If he had a better offer from a European nation, he would take that instead. There is nothing better. imo
Moo..yes I do not understand Europe. USA does not get to rule the world. But if Europe lets him. I guess that is that...or it is what it is....moo

Practical question: if they turn Canada into 51st state, they'll have to give all Canadians US citizenship. Canada will be larger than Texas.

Do you know how most Canadians end up voting? What is the breakdown? ;)
Hear me out - what if we borrow Canada, giving millions of Canadians U.S. citizenship and voting rights. They can help us vote out the crazies and then we give them their country back after they save ours. Send a thank-you card and some Tim Hortons gift cards? Just a short-term lease situation.

(Just kidding of course)

Treasury secretary Scott Bessent said a rare earths minerals deal with Ukraine was not on the table, despite reports that Donald Trump is preparing to announce the signing of the deal tonight.

Asked if the deal was still on the table, Bessent told CBS “not at present”.

Meanwhile, the UK’s ministry of defense said defense minister John Healey will meet his US counterpart, defense secretary Pete Hegseth, in Washington on Thursday to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine.

Donald Trump, in remarks released by the White House, will pledged to take “historic action to dramatically expand production of critical minerals and rare earths” in the US.

The president is expected to say that he is working “tirelessly” to end the “savage conflict in Ukraine”.

UK MPs condemn ‘deeply disrespectful’ JD Vance comments

US vice-president’s comments on proposed Anglo-French deployment to Ukraine prompt outrage

I don't expect much from a neo-Nazi.

He's an extremely damaged, mentally ill person. Severe personality disorders of all kinds. He had a horrific upbringing with a bunch of toxic narcissist adults, all of whom were severely addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. He's full of hate for others and self-loathing. He hates everyone and everything.

Meanwhile, Britain’s foreign secretary has reiterated European allies’ determination to strike a peace deal for Ukraine.

In a post on X on Tuesday, David Lammy said he had spoken to his counterparts in France, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain about Ukraine and that their support was unwavering:

His post comes as late on Tuesday, both Ukraine and the US appeared to be once again close to signing a critical minerals deal that the White House has indicated is a precursor to peace talks. Reuters has reported that US president Donald Trump could announce such an agreement in a speech to both houses of Congress on Tuesday night.

Coming just hours after the US halted military aid for Ukraine, the latest developments underline the chaotic nature of the relationship between Kyiv and Washington under Trump.

Cool! So UK, France, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Spain have agreed to take the Crimea and Donbas border region back from Russia and give it to Ukraine - and then provide forever military security and a “genuine secured peace” - a complete and total “military backstop” for Ukraine along its very long border with Russia till the end of time. This is fantastic news!

That is not the intention. That should be the intention of the negotiator to try and arrange.

Trump to tease an announcement on critical mineral extraction - in the US

Trump will also address the major issues of the day - aid to Ukraine and the growing trade war with US allies, according to excerpts of his speech.

"Later this week, I will also take historic action to dramatically expand production of critical minerals and rare earths here in USA," he is expected to say.

It comes as he demands a deal with Ukraine to extract minerals from their country in exchange for the resumption of suspended shipments of US aid.

I am pretty sure that Zelensky has strongly indicated that it would it not be enough just to try. He wants the guarantee first, in writing, before he starts negotiating for peace.

For the long term, they have no other choice. They have to defend the EU against further invasions and attacks from Russia. It's inevitable. Peace has been destroyed by Putin and the current leader of the US has chosen to abandon our European allies.

They will do fine. They've done this before. Many times. Hopefully, democracy will prevail in the US and sane leadership will return. Either way, most Americans still consider Europe, Canada, etc. our allies.

I spoke with Prime Minister of Croatia @AndrejPlenkovic and shared the details of the London summit—agenda topics and decisions. It is important for us that the partners who were not present are kept informed.

We are working on a plan of action that will bring us closer to sustainable peace and security guarantees. This should be a coordinated vision for all of Europe and all partners. The document will be ready soon, and we will share it with each ally.

A just and honest peace is our shared goal.Thank you for the support and everything the Croatian people are doing for Ukraine.

I spoke with UK Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer. We discussed the current developments and exchanged views on the next steps.

We are coordinating our positions and doing everything to achieve guaranteed peace as soon as possible and bring an end to this war.

Peace is needed for all of us. A just peace with clear security guarantees. Together with the leadership of the United States and all of Europe, this is absolutely achievable.I am grateful for the advice and support during this challenging time. We will always remember everything the British people have done for Ukrainians and our shared security.
