Incidentally I keep reading that America have finished in this war and not contributing anything else but it appears that if some sort of path is agreed that the help may be reinstated
A path made of money or minerals maybe...

Sánchez: Spain will raise defence spending to reach Nato target faster

Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez said his country would raise defence spending to reach Nato’s target faster than previously committed. The eurozone’s fourth-largest economy, Spain ranked last in the 32-nation military alliance last year for the share of GDP that it contributed to the military, estimated at 1.28%.

Nato members pledged in 2014 to spend at least 2% of GDP on defense, a target that 23 countries were expected to meet last year amid concerns about the war in Ukraine. Spain previously said it would reach the target by 2029.

“We all have to make an effort and an expedited effort with respect to what we had previously set for the year 2029,” Sánchez told reporters.

US preparing to shut down consulates in Europe

The US state department is preparing to shut down a number of consulates that are mainly in western Europe in the coming months and looking to reduce its workforce globally, multiple US officials said on Thursday.

The state department is also looking into potentially merging a number of its expert bureaus at its headquarters in Washington that are working in areas such as human rights, refugees, global criminal justice, women’s issues and efforts to counter human trafficking, the officials said.

Reuters reported last month that US missions around the world had been asked to look into reducing US and locally employed staff by at least 10% as Donald Trump and his billionaire aide Elon Musk have unleashed an unprecedented cost-cutting effort across the US federal workforce.

Shutting down consulates in Europe, and re-appointing a Russian ambassador in DC. Hmm.

imo

(paraphrased)

The NY Times states that it will be a dozen consulates in Europe that are closed by this summer.
And that the US is considering shutting down many more missions.
It will be laying off 2/3 of its local citizens on those missions.
Those citizens form the foundation of U.S. diplomats’ knowledge of their environments.

The embassies (for those who don't understand, and as per this NY Times article) have officers from the military, intelligence, law enforcement, health, commerce, trade, treasury and other agencies. These officers monitor developments in the host nation and work with the local officials to counter everything from terrorism to infectious disease to collapsing currencies.

American officials, including in the C.I.A., are concerned about mass closures hampering national security work. And China has overtaken the United States in global diplomatic footprint.

Speaking at a press conference in Berlin earlier, Rustem Umerov told reporters that: "We did not get the detail yet on how it will be restricted, but we already working for the alternatives."

UK company to supply Ukraine with advanced attack drones as deal reached

The British government has struck a deal with a defence company, allowing Ukraine armed forces to use more advanced attack drones in the Black Sea.

In a Ministry of Defence statement, it says contracts amounting to almost £30m will see Anduril UK supplying Ukraine with drones designed to monitor an area before striking targets that enter it.

Defence Secretary John Healey met staff from the company at its Washington DC facility ahead of the deal.

The deal follows a meeting of world leaders in London last week, when the prime minister and allies agreed to help support Ukraine militarily.

Ukraine’s armed forces will take delivery of the drones, launchers and spare parts over the coming months.

Zelensky is all over the place and speaks out of both sides of his mouth. I think the U.S. needs more clarity and assurance before they make any decisions to go down this road again with Zelensky before he blindsides us again.
We are down this road because the US was vague and did not offer clarity or assurance about the security guarantees.

EU commission chief says Europe will scale up defence at scale and speed amid 'clear and present danger'

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said Europe is facing a “clear and present danger” and that she presented a plan on Thursday to EU leaders in which they take on more responsibility for its security.

“Today, history is being written,” she told reporters in Brussels.

We are coming out of this European Council very determined to ensure Europe’s security and to act with the scale, the speed and the resolve that this situation demands. We are determined to invest more, to invest better and to invest faster.
The urgency is “real”, she said.

<modsnip> I'm sorry, I must have missed them. Please summarize what intelligence tracking the other nations have and if they have it, why is it a disaster if the US cuts intelligence sharing when they have their own? Thank you.

Britain will continue to supply intelligence to Ukraine, though the more limited capabilities on offer from London and other European countries will make it difficult to replace the flow halted from the US earlier this week.

The UK will also continue to supply its analysis of the raw data, sources said on Thursday, though in line with normal intelligence practice it will not simply pass on US information obtained via long-established sharing arrangements between the two countries. A former Whitehall insider said":

They are not as far reaching as US capabilities, not at the same scale and not able to take their place.
But they will allow Ukraine to maintain some early warning from attack and a degree of deep strike capability into Russia.

Reconnaissance data collected from satellites, ground stations, surveillance aircraft such as Rivet Joint, and even covertly deployed ground forces is accumulated and shared with Ukraine in conjunction with open source material to enable damaging deep missile and drone strikes into Russia.

As we reported earlier, France also said publicly that it would continue to provide intelligence to Ukraine. Sébastien Lecornu, the country’s armed forces minister, said that while the US decision would have a “significant operational impact” Paris would continue to help with its “sovereign intelligence”.

It is a disaster because more people will die.

This is following Haltbakk Bunkers ceasing to supply US Naval vessels in Norwegian ports.

(from the archived Le Monde article)

.... the movement calling for boycotting American brands is on the rise. In recent weeks, a number of groups have sprung up on Facebook, listing products and services to be blacklisted. While the impact of this action is still difficult to assess, the participants hope to inspire a broader movement at the European level ....

Haltbakk Bunkers CEO Gunnar Gran defended a "moral" decision and pointed out that his company stopped supplying Russian ships as soon as the large-scale invasion of Ukraine began. "Today, the United States is excluded because of its behavior toward the Ukrainians"

"Buying American products in this day and age amounts to supporting Russia's attempt to crush its European brother"
"By boycotting American products, we can put a few cards in Zelensky's hands"

Fortunately, it is not all one-sided. Except the Ukraine military is not targeting civilians.

This article speaks of how the Russians are sending in scouts on motorcycles, who are then followed by tanks and troops once the all-clear is ascertained.

Ukrainian Drones Followed Russian Bike Troops Back To Their Dugout—And Then The Drone Operators Called In Artillery

And this article speaks for itself, detailing what is spoken of in the headline.

Ukrainian Drones Blew Up 14 Russian Vehicles In One Morning Outside Pokrovsk - Russian field armies no longer have the initiative around the city.

There is some very explicit drone footage in both articles, showing what Ukraine is able to achieve.

Today was a very productive day in Brussels for Ukraine and all of Europe at the European Council summit at the leaders’ level. I had good meetings with @eucopresident and @vonderleyen. Met with @EmmanuelMacron, @Bart_DeWever, and @_CStocker on the sidelines of the summit. Also had a substantive meeting with
@SecGenNATO. We managed to discuss many details. I’m grateful for the support from all the leaders.

I presented the vision that swift progress toward peace is possible, and together with our partners, we understand what steps can stop the war, guarantee security, and ensure a just and lasting peace. We are preparing practical proposals. The first priority could be to establish and fully control a ceasefire in the sky (stopping missile, long-range drone, and bomb strikes on energy and other civilian infrastructure), as well as a ceasefire at sea, meaning halting all military operations in the Black Sea, which will ensure peaceful and safe navigation.

We consider these initial steps as a prologue to a broader and comprehensive settlement. The war must end as soon as possible, and Ukraine is ready to work 24/7 with our partners in the United States and Europe for peace.

Next Monday, I have a visit planned to Saudi Arabia for a meeting with the Crown Prince. After that, my team will stay in Saudi Arabia to work with our American partners. Ukraine is most interested in peace. As we told @POTUS, Ukraine is working and will continue to work constructively for a swift and reliable peace.

Interesting information @Simply Southern ….. but unfortunately and respectfully need to agree with @BayouBelle_LA and the post #879 this thread. There is so much redacted in that source it is difficult to conclude many things from it. MOO

I am grateful to His Majesty King Philippe of the Belgians for the audience.

We discussed Belgium’s involvement in preparing the first steps toward ending the war. I look forward to His Majesty’s support in facilitating the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported and displaced by Russia.

I thank Belgium for the support throughout the three years of full-scale Russian aggression and for its position on achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

I spoke with Norwegian Prime Minister @jonasgahrstore. I thanked him for today’s unanimous decision by the Norwegian parliament @Stortinget to increase Norway’s aid to Ukraine this year from $3.2 billion to $7.7 billion.

This is a timely and necessary decision that should serve as an example for all our partners. The funds will be partly directed towards weapons production in Ukraine and strengthening our energy security. Thus, Ukraine’s negotiating positions on the path to a just and lasting peace will become even stronger.

I am grateful to Norway for demonstrating responsibility and readiness to increase its contribution to peace and stability in Europe.
