Contradictory reports. Rubio - in Sky News link above - says intelligence has already been restarted. Elsewhere it's reported as "dependent" on what happens at talks tomorrow. Also above in Sky News - Starmer has talked to Trump about it getting restarted. So has it restarted or not?! MOO

I think the concern is what is it actually going to cost him to finally get a seat at that negotiation table for his nation's "Peace" (with no security guarantee)?

50% of his nation's mineral resources and 500 billion for generations to come?

What's T's current offer for the seat? Something like:

"We'll consider turning your satellites and intelligence back on if you sign the deal. Without the deal, you're not ready to sit at the table?" ??

Earlier on the flight from the US, Rubio insisted that both Ukraine and Russia would need to make concessions to reach a ceasefire deal.

“I think both sides need to come to an understanding that there’s no military solution to this situation,” Rubio told reporters.

“The Russians can’t conquer all of Ukraine, and obviously it’ll be very difficult for Ukraine in any reasonable time period to sort of force the Russians back all the way to where they were in 2014.”

He added that the US had yet to determine what Russia was willing to concede. “We don’t know how far apart they truly are,” he said.

Based on that Rubio's comment, these talks might just not achieve anything ..... JMO Moldova is right next to Ukraine. This is how Russia started in Ukraine I seem to remember - Russian infiltration to destabilise things MOO

Sir Keir Starmer is to host a second leaders’ meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing” as he pushes ahead with plans for British, French and other troops to be sent to Ukraine as peacekeepers.

Britain is stepping up action this week for Europe to provide a peace-keeping force if Vladimir Putin agrees to end his three-year war.

Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the Chief of the Defence Staff, will on Tuesday host with his French counterpart a military meeting in Paris of the “Coalition of the Willing”.

Apparently the Saudi's have been involved with exchange of prisoners before. But I can't see this meeting can achieve anything if, as Rubio says above, they don't even know how far apart the two parties are - considering Us is supposed to be doing the negotiations with both! JMO

I think it's all ready been shown that the US now sucks at diplomacy. The world now needs countries that know how to lead with diplomacy and unfortunately that's no longer the US. IMO.

And I think most countries recognise that diplomacy doesn't work with Putin, who is just a warmonger who wants to invade other countries. I don't think it was anything to do with fear of Ukraine joining Nato (one reason given) because they had been told No to that anyway. That was just an excuse. The irony being Nato are now talking about making Ukraine a member! Which they hadn't planned to before. MOO

The United States is leading with diplomacy. Ukraine can reject all of it if they choose. I’m not sure what that leaves for Ukraine other than never-ending war in that region of the world.

I would be interested to see how US diplomacy works with Putin. He's already been reported to have rejected all proposals by Europe, Uk and Ukraine. MOO
