Musk is saying...get ready for it...it's IP addresses in Ukraine that did it, the "terrorist" attack on X. Still trying to figure out how that qualifies as a "terrorist" attack. Could be true. If so I say...do it again! If it's Russia doing it and making it look like it's Ukraine I say...do it again!! Either way maybe it will distract Musk enough that he'll leave the VA, FAA, CDC and Medicare alone for a hot minute.

I hope it was Anonymous, but, I wouldn't rule out that Russian Asset Elon did it in an attempt to rile people up against Ukraine.

I am actually wondering why Uk newspapers are publishing reports from Moscow, which are dubious as to correctness IMO. MOO

If they have to, to be balanced, then they should temper those reports with the reports from Ukraine. JMO
I'm dubious about both sources - Ukraine and Russian media.

This happened yesterday, Caution it's the brit press.

A senior White House official told the maritime website Captain.com that foul play had not been ruled out. There was speculation the Solong might have been hacked by Russia or other hostile states and turned into a 'spear'.

what a long article (informative however) for the Daily mail....

UK state department spokesperson Tammy Bruce posted a short video update from Jeddah on her social media accounts.

The bottom line there is that it is:

A very exciting day. A day that could mean a lot for all people around the world.
Halfway through the update, there is an amusing moment when she got distracted while marvelling at the beauty of a decorated pillar in the lobby – “Isn’t that fantastic?” – only to then skillfully use it as a segue to this upbeat conclusion:

So other fantastic news with humanity might emerge, so we are very optimistic, and I know the secretary is, because we know what is at stake."

As we await further updates from Jeddah, that’s all from me, Jakub Krupa, as I hand the blog over to Leonie Chao-Fong in Washington to guide you through the evening, with the latest on US-Ukraine talks."

So no news - still JMO

Both sides launched big drone attacks last night. Ukraines was the biggest drone attack there has ever been during the war apparently and does seem to have caused a lot of disruption. MOO based on article below.

"Following the strikes, flight restrictions were imposed on Moscow's four major airports - Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo and Zhukovsky - as well as airports in the Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod regions. These are major transport hubs used by millions of passengers every year."

"Officials in Kyiv said the scale of the attack was intended as a signal to push Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a ceasefire in the air and sea."

"Overnight, Ukrainian officials reported Russian drone attacks on the capital Kyiv and several other regions.

Ukraine's air force said it had shot down 79 of 126 drones launched by Russia, as well as an Iskander-M ballistic missile.

It added that another 35 drones had probably failed to reach their targets due to electronic warfare countermeasures, though it was unclear whether the other 12 hit their targets.

Says the White House. I'm sorry to be so cynical, but, I'll need to hear that from someone else.

Of course it is, considering Russia has 20% of Ukraine under his control.

Over 30 nations to join Paris talks on Ukraine security.

Representatives will meet in person and virtually on March 11, coinciding with a meeting between Ukrainian and U.S. officials on the same day in Saudi Arabia.

MAR 11, 2025
The reported trip to Moscow will follow the March 11 discussions between Ukrainian and U.S. officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Witkoff will join U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz on the American side.

There is an "expectation" that the two sides will make "substantial progress" during the talks, Witkoff told Fox News in an interview on March 10.

"What's on the table, what's important to discuss are obviously security protocols for the Ukrainians, they care about that," Witkoff said.
I wonder if he'll demean Putin, saying he has no cards, and wag his fingers in front of his face? This is just theatre. Putin knows he isn't budging and he's playing a cat and mouse game with the US. Friend of Trump or not, his stand will not change, keep all of Crimea and the occupied oblasts or zones. Putin has already started building hastily built apartment buildings or patching up devastated ones to show how quickly he is creating a Russian society enjoyed by all. It's a mirage.

I remember my oldest sister touring eastern Europe in a WV bus with several other people in the early 70s and they went across the border to Russia and the guards were using mirrors on poles to see if someone was hanging underneath the bus. One of the guards opened every Tampax that was in a box because they didn't know what they were and none of the women were going to mime what their purpose was. She said you were limited to different areas of cities and knew they were being watched and even those areas had very limited choices as to what to eat and where to stay; specific restaurants that were supposed to be geared to European travelers with very limited menus. She said once they drove outside of an area they were supposed to stay and it was just like time stood still from the war with rusted out farm equipment and destroyed buildings. She couldn't wait to get out of there. Sure things are different now but thousands of Western businesses have already pulled up roots and written off whatever profits they could possibly make. I posted a list of companies last week who still have vestiges of business in Russia.

US and Ukraine agree to conclude minerals deal 'as soon as possible'

The presidents of Ukraine and the US have agreed to “conclude as soon as possible” a comprehensive agreement for “developing Ukraine’s critical mineral resources to expand Ukraine’s economy, offset the cost of American assistance, and guarantee Ukraine’s long-term prosperity and security,” according to a joint statement by the US and Ukrainian delegations.

Ukraine agrees to accept immediate 30-day ceasefire

Ukraine has agreed to accept a US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire and to take steps toward restoring a durable peace after Russia’s invasion, according to a joint statement by US and Ukrainian delegations meeting in Jeddah.

Kyiv and Washington “took important steps toward restoring durable peace for Ukraine” on Tuesday, the statement reads.

Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the US proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace.
The US will “immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and resume security assistance to Ukraine,” it says.

Both delegations agreed to immediately “begin negotiations toward an enduring peace that provides for Ukraine’s long-term security”, it says.

The US committed to discussing these proposals with representatives from Russia, while the Ukrainian delegation reiterated that European partners shall be involved in the peace process, it says.

So it sounds like all they've agreed is

1) To sign the minerals deal asap (sounds like no further aid until that happens)
2) Agreed to a 30 day ceasefire IF RUSSIA agrees.
3) US will share intelligence again.

And that's it by the sound of it. JMO

It was like that in the 1970s when I visited Cuba, and also in the 1970s when we drove from Istanbul to Paris and had to drive through eastern European countries that used similar methods to see if we were smuggling anything in our vehicle.

So that suggests US are still witholding aid and weapons, at least until the minerals deal is signed and at least until Putin agrees to a 30 day ceasefire. Which he probably won't JMO

In which case Ukraine is still dependant on Europe for aid but does have intelligence sharing. MOO

Sounds to me like Rubio and Musk have trauma bonding after their Oval Office kerfuffle.
Most likely there's some kind of trauma happening within the WH. I just can't believe our SOS basically saying to an ally, oh be quiet, be thankful Russia isn't on your doorstep right now, because Elon is da man! I don't know...what koolaid is it we're suppose to be drinking? The one where Russia wants peace or the one where Poland should be thankful to Musk because Russia is an aggressor also looking at their borders? What's the message? It can't be both...or can it?

I disagree with your opinion on No. 1

What do you think it means when the United States says that “we will restore security assistance to Ukraine”
