Today has been a day full of diplomacy and negotiations that could bring us closer to peace. Now on the table is the U.S. proposal for unconditional ceasefire in the sky, at sea, and on the frontlines. Ukraine accepts this proposal, and from here, we can begin a swift move towards guaranteed security, the end of this war and a reliable peace.

Our teams worked very well at the meeting in Saudi Arabia, and contacts with the American side are ongoing. We are committed to a constructive approach. And it is still crucial to pressure Russia into being constructive, to put an end all these Russian manipulations that could only prolong the war.

I am grateful to everyone who is supporting Ukraine now and our efforts toward peace.Today, I heard many right words about the need to end the war. I heard a lot of approval for Ukraine’s position. We continue our work to unite everyone who can truly help, who can strengthen diplomacy and bring peace closer.

Today we mark the Ukrainian Military Volunteer Day—the day of thousands of Ukrainians who have carried our state and independence on their shoulders.

The very desire to defend Ukraine, the motivation to be a warrior and defender, the strength of our army, and the results achieved in the battles for Ukraine—all of this is the most important security guarantee for Ukraine, the strongest pillar of our statehood.

I am proud of all Ukrainian warriors. I thank everyone who defends Ukraine. We must always honor, and will continue to honor, all Ukrainian heroes from different times who fought for Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, discussions of the territories were not part of the meeting's agenda. He reiterated that Ukraine will not recognize any occupied territories as part of Russia under a potential future peace agreement with Moscow.

"The American side goes into details. For example, the city of Enerhodar... You can't just say: here's the (Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power) Plant, and the city is separate. I believe that the issue of territories is the most difficult one after the issue of establishing a ceasefire," Zelensky said.

Russian forces currently occupy roughly 20% of Ukraine, from where reports of systematic repression, torture, and forced deportations regularly emerge.

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Russia to accept a proposed 30-day ceasefire deal put forward by the United States and Ukraine.

Ukraine has started assembling a team to develop monitoring mechanisms for a potential 30-day ceasefire, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced on March 14.

On March 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was open to accepting the ceasefire but insisted that Ukraine suspend mobilization, military training, and foreign military aid deliveries for the duration of the truce.

U.S. President Donald Trump responded to Putin’s remarks, calling them "very promising" but "not complete," and indicated a willingness to meet with the Russian leader.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 14 that Ukrainian soldiers must surrender in Kursk Oblast after U.S. President Donald Trump's request to "spare" the troops he claimed are surrounded.

Neither Trump nor Putin provided evidence that Ukrainian troops are currently surrounded at any location.

The Russian president claimed that Moscow "will guarantee life and decent treatment in accordance with international law" to captured Ukrainian soldiers.

As of mid-December 2024, Kyiv has also found that 177 captured Ukrainian soldiers were executed on the spot while attempting to surrender. Instances of summary executions have been reported in Kursk Oblast as well.

Ukraine's General Staff on March 14 denied claims that Ukrainian troops were encircled in Kursk Oblast amid Russia's ongoing offensive in the region.

The General Staff said that Russia had been reporting an alleged encirclement of Ukrainian forces in Kursk Oblast "for political purposes and to put pressure on Ukraine and its partners."

"The units have regrouped, moved to more favorable defense lines and are completing their assigned tasks in Kursk Oblast," the General Staff said. "There is no threat of encirclement of our units."

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host a virtual meeting of world leaders Saturday to discuss peacekeeping in Ukraine and urge them to make "concrete commitments," according to Downing Street.

Starmer will urge allies to step up military support for Ukraine, increase economic pressure on Russia in the short term and be ready to back a future peace deal if one is reached.

Downing Street confirmed that participants will include several European nations, the EU Commission, NATO, Canada, Ukraine, Australia and New Zealand.

"If Russia finally comes to the table, then we must be ready to monitor a ceasefire to ensure it is a serious and enduring peace, if they don't, then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war," Starmer noted in a statement.

He accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of stalling by insisting on a "painstaking study" before agreeing to a ceasefire.

"The encrypted messaging app Signal has stopped responding to requests from Ukrainian law enforcement regarding Russian cyberthreats, a Ukrainian official claimed, warning that the shift is aiding Moscow’s intelligence efforts.

“With its inaction, Signal is helping Russians gather information, target our soldiers and compromise government officials”

Signal, a U.S.-based nonprofit platform known for its commitment to privacy, did not respond to a request for comment."

A retired US general charged with helping sell the Trump administration’s Ukraine peace plan wrote a string of op-eds and reports for a rightwing thinktank in which he repeatedly questioned whether Ukraine had a legitimate part to play in peace negotiations.

Keith Kellogg also blamed the war on the machinations of a US “military-industrial complex” and “[Joe] Biden’s national security incompetence” rather than Russia’s 2022 invasion, which has been condemned across the globe and resulted in a war that has cost hundreds of thousands of lives.

More more at link. This is the last guy who should involved in negotiations, imo.

I received a report from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi. Defense of our positions in the Donetsk region and other frontline areas. I am grateful to all Ukrainian units for their resilience and effectiveness in destroying the occupier. The situation in the Pokrovsk direction has been stabilized.

A separate note on the Kursk region. The operation of our forces in the designated areas of the Kursk region continues. The units are carrying out their tasks exactly as required. Thanks to the Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, a significant number of Russian forces were withdrawn from other directions. Our troops continue to hold back Russian and North Korean groupings in the Kursk region. There is no encirclement of our troops.

We are also observing directions along our eastern border of Ukraine, where the Russian army is building up forces. This indicates an intention to attack our Sumy region. We are aware of this, and will counter it. I would like all partners to understand exactly what Putin is planning, what he is preparing for, and what he will be ignoring.

The buildup of Russian forces indicates that Moscow intends to keep ignoring diplomacy. It is clear that Russia is prolonging the war. We are ready to provide our partners with all the real information on the situation at the front, in the Kursk region, and along our border.

Today there were also reports on our missile program. We have tangible results. The long Neptune missile was tested and successfully used in combat. A new Ukrainian missile, precise strike. The range of one thousand kilometers. I thank our Ukrainian developers, manufacturers and military personnel. We continue our work to ensure the security of Ukraine.

Also today, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine delivered a report on new support packages from our partners. We are securing artillery supplies. I am grateful to all the partners who are helping.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a decree on March 15 creating a new delegation for international peace negotiations.

The delegation will be led by Andriy Yermak, the head of Zelensky's office, the decree, published on the president's website, says. Other members include Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Yermak's deputy, Pavlo Palisa.

Late last year, Politico included Yermak among the finalists for the "dreamers" category as part of its yearly list of the most influential people in Europe.

The former television producer became Zelensky’s chief of staff in 2020, becoming an indispensable gatekeeper for the Ukrainian president, dubbed "The Fixer" by Politico.

The US should butt out. We are obviously biased and have no business anywhere near the negotiation table! IMO

Budapest has a series of demands for the European Union, including the exclusion of Ukraine from membership in the bloc, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on March 15.

Orban, widely regarded as the EU's most pro-Russian leader, has repeatedly opposed military aid for Ukraine and warned that Ukraine's EU membership would "destroy" Hungary.

At an emergency summit on security for Europe and Ukraine held on March 6, 26 EU member states denounced Russian aggression and pledged continued support for Kyiv, while Hungary was the lone dissenting nation.

The sanctions list, renewed for another six months, includes Putin, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, as well as members of the Russian State Duma and individuals responsible for sham elections and referenda in occupied Ukrainian territories.

Individuals involved in the kidnapping and forced adoption of Ukrainian children, the atrocities in Bucha and Mariupol, as well as high-ranking officials, military personnel and Wagner group commanders are also among the 2,400 individuals and entities on the list.

"Sooner or later, Putin will have to come to the table" — The UK Prime Minister

Starmer held a virtual summit of the "coalition of the willing" on Ukraine, inviting European leaders as well as the heads of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The UK Prime Minister stated that he is determined to do everything possible to bring peace closer.

"I believe that sooner or later, Putin will have to come to the negotiating table and start serious discussions. But— this is a big ‘but’ for us this morning at our meeting — we cannot sit back and simply wait for that to happen," Starmer told leaders while sitting in front of a screen in his office at 10 Downing Street.

"I think this means strengthening Ukraine so it can defend itself — strengthening its military capabilities, its financial standing, and providing further support from all of us," Starmer said, passionately backing Ukraine.

If Zelensky doesn't want to negotiate with us, that's his choice. I don't particularly like this General myself, but he's only one member of the negotiating team. I have full trust in our Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, Secretary Rubio, and other members of our negotiation team.

Why? Putin has stated his ridiculous demands. I'm pretty sure that's it from him! IMO

I have HUGE respect for Zelensky for having to endure through all the BS dealth with by previous allies and new enemies.

He is operating without his family, without the massive creature comforts that the bigmouth shouty ones have, and yet he perseveres against massive powers.

I addressed the meeting of European leaders stating that the path to peace must begin unconditionally. And if Russia doesn’t want this, then strong pressure must be applied until they do. Moscow understands one language.

Since Tuesday, a proposal for a ceasefire has been on the table — a silence from war in the air, at sea, and on the frontlines. This is an American proposal — a full, unconditional ceasefire for 30 days. In that time, without killings, it would truly be possible to negotiate all aspects of a real peace.

We talked about who would delay peace and slow everything down — and now we see it clearly. A ceasefire could have already happened, but Russia is doing everything to prevent it.

Putin is lying to everyone about the situation on the ground, especially about what’s happening in the Kursk region, where our Ukrainian forces continue their operations. Our troops have also stabilized the situation on the front in Donetsk region — specifically Pokrovsk.

Putin is also lying about how a ceasefire is supposedly too complicated. In reality, everything can be controlled, and we have discussed this with the Americans. The truth is, Putin has already dragged out the war for nearly a week after the talks in Jeddah. And he will keep dragging it out.

This is Russia’s war — more than three years of full-scale fighting and destruction. To stop this, active pressure is needed, not just talks. Pressure on Russia. Strong measures are needed to take even the first steps toward ending the war.

(continued from above)

This includes sanctions against Russia that must not only be maintained but continuously strengthened. I ask you to take these steps and to work with your partners on this.

We must define a clear position on security guarantees. Security is key to making peace reliable and lasting. We need to continue working on the contingents that will form the foundation of Europe’s future Armed Forces. Peace will be more reliable with European contingents on the ground and the American side as a backstop. There must be clear commitments on how this will function.

The same applies to investments in defense production – both in Ukraine, where it is currently growing the fastest, and in European countries. Europe needs its own arsenals and the capability to produce the most advanced weapons. It shouldn’t take 3 to 5 years to produce ammunition when it’s about your defense and security. Please, do it as soon as possible.

I also ask you not to forget about strengthening air defense – both in Ukraine and, in the future, in your countries. We all need protection. I thank each of you who is helping us with this.

This is a very bad signal – taking Russia’s opinion into account regarding the contingent. The contingent must be stationed on Ukrainian soil. This is a security guarantee for Ukraine and a security guarantee for Europe. If Putin wants to bring some foreign contingent onto Russia’s territory, that’s his business. But it is not his business to decide anything about Ukraine’s and Europe’s security.
