I think there has been a lot of misunderstanding with fighter jets. I was curious to listen to Polish side because they did what they did for a reason and USA is not the only one who can be right..
According to news resources from Poland USA was pressuring Poland to give away jets and Poland from the beginning said clear no and then agreed but said if you want okay but you do that.

snipped from news using google translation

In Washington, there is pressure on the administration to get things done. They wanted to do this by shifting the decision to us. And yet this is something that the Russians can respond to, and something that comes at a cost. (...) I can see the fluctuations in this matter - continued the PO politician. - I hope that it can be agreed alliedly. Poland should not be left alone with this matter, he concluded.”

I don’t think its fair to jump on Poland like that they are doing so much for refugees and are so close to Russian border in case of aggression. There is two side of the story always..

Yep. Indeed it was the USofA that offered Ukraine Polish jets.

Waiting a valid link from US officials. The first link is not in English and the second doesn't work.

Russian Shelling Continues As Ukrainians Seek To Flee; Zelenskiy Says It's The 'Duty' Of The World To Respond (rferl.org)
Thousands tried to flee cities around the country on March 8 through humanitarian corridors with limited success as continued Russian bombardment cut off some of the exit routes.

In a televised address on March 9, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that unless a no-fly zone is declared to protect Ukraine, the international community would be responsible for a mass humanitarian catastrophe.

Britain unveiled new aviation sanctions on March 9 under which any Russian plane can be detained, while exports of aviation or space-related goods to Russia can also be banned.

Ukraine Demands Cease-Fire At Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Amid Power Outage After Russian Takeover (rferl.org)
"Chernobyl has lost power. I call on the entire international community to immediately call on Russia to cease fire and allow repair crews to restore the electricity supply as soon as possible," he said, noting reserve diesel generators had a 48-hour capacity to power the plant, after which the cooling systems will stop, "making radiation leaks imminent."

Am not sure , if this was posted in this thread..but I sure, saw some footage about a young boy crying when he entered the Polish border.
Just an update - he was not alone when the video was taken!

"Polish border guard: 4-year-old boy was not alone In the same broadcast, images were also shown of the crying boy about which there is so much to do on Twitter. "But luckily he is not alone," it was already said in the broadcast. According to the journalists of the Reuters news agency who filmed him, his mother is walking ahead of him. The video was shot on Saturday 5 March"

If I recall correctly and tell me if I’m wrong but don’t the US want to get their hands on one so that they can disassemble and get valuable information from it ?
Nope, they are junk, our planes far out weight the capabilities of these planes. Moo...

Important info regarding Chernobyl

#Ukraine has informed IAEA of power loss at #Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, @rafaelmgrossi says development violates key safety pillar on ensuring uninterrupted power supply; in this case IAEA sees no critical impact on safety.

IAEA says heat load of spent fuel storage pool and volume of cooling water at #Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant sufficient for effective heat removal without need for electrical supply. IAEA update from March 3: Update 8 – IAEA Director General Statement on Situation in Ukraine | IAEA

Well thank God it's not as bleak, right now.

"...SNRIU reported that power from one of the two off-site power transmission lines supplying electricity to the site was lost overnight. This power line does not provide power to safety-related equipment. Neverthless, due to this loss of power, there were difficulties in carrying out routine maintenance and repair of some safety-critical equipment, SNRIU said..."

"The event highlights once again why Director General Grossi has repeatedly stressed that any military or other action that could threaten the safety or security of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants must be avoided.

“I remain gravely concerned about the deteriorating situation in Ukraine, especially about the country’s nuclear power plants, which must be able to continue operating without any safety or security threats,” he said. “Any accident caused as a result of the military conflict could have extremely serious consequences for people and the environment, in Ukraine and beyond.”

Kinda of says it all, IMO. The power line severed this time, it's ok. Still no necessary off-site monitoring connection restored. Still gravely concerned. Still waiting to hear about the supposed torture of the workers onsite by their captors. Hopefully the Russians and their mercenaries will agree to allow a much needed shift change.

I pray the people in charge there, the captors, realize what they're in charge of and how precarious they're making things. Where's the UN's voice on all this? UN should be shouting from the rooftops. I'm guessing ALL the Russian people are being kept in the dark? Where's the top scientific mind's of Russia voices? Only getting propaganda not the truth?

Edit: A bit of a rant, NOT directed at you, apologies if it seems that way.

Someone has to ask it, and it’d better be me. I understand why the sanctions.

Is there any fear that it might backfire, in the simplest way.

With Ukraine, we know what is happening inside. With Russia, with the rush to cut it off the Internet outlets, soon there will be no way to understand what is going inside the country.

What will happen, 1) protesters will be crushed and jailed

2) Russia, having no outlets for its raw materials, will turn into a raw appendage for China. China can barter its oil, it might even widen yuan zone.

Is there any concern that China will be the ultimate winner in this game?

Yes.

Am I the only one getting really frustrated with the amount of misinformation and downright propaganda being tossed around? I know it's been bad for years but this is a whole new level.

The Red Cross issue - the OMG the Red Cross won't allow their symbol to be used "however". And the whole world had to learn where and how it can be used (and why).

UN misinformation - the OMG they won't say war, everyone lost their mind, and it wasn't true.

This Poland jet thing.

We're now gonna learn about spent nuclear rods.

Oh well. Knowledge is power. Yes?

Pentagon rejects Polish plan to give fighter jets to U.S. to supply Ukraine

Pentagon rejects Polish plan to give fighter jets to U.S. to supply Ukraine

Between the lines: After Poland's announcement, which appeared to shift responsibility for making the deal happen to the U.S., a top State Department official said the Biden administration was not consulted.

"To my knowledge, it wasn't pre-consulted with us that they planned to give these planes to us," Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland testified to the Senate.
Russia's Defense Ministry had warned on Sunday that any country that allows Ukrainian-operated airplanes to use their soil to attack the Russian military could be considered a participant in the conflict.

….

I was listening to this yesterday and heard Nuland say she heard about on her way to testify.

.Why couldnt they have done this secretly instead of blabbing it to the
entire world???
My thoughts exactly but I do think that it’s so overtly stupid in broadcasting it to the world that there must be a strategic plan here and the broadcasting of it to the world is part of that plan, maybe to sideswipe Russia- I don’t know, it’s just my thoughts
All MOO

Rutte wants discrimination against Russians in the Netherlands to stop

Prime Minister Mark Rutte called on Tuesday to stop the harassment against Russians in the Netherlands. "We are not helping anyone with this at all and it is not civilized," said the prime minister.

Rutte said he heard increasing reports of "verbal abuse or even worse" against Russian people, organizations and companies in the Netherlands. "I strongly reject it," he says. "We are in conflict with Putin and his government, not with Russians and certainly not with Russians in the Netherlands."

According to the prime minister, individual Russians cannot do anything about what is currently happening in Ukraine. The prime minister notes that many of them are turning away from this "terrible violence".

I agree on this.

Kudos to the PM of the Netherlands.

Ukrainians of occupied towns protest against Russian invasion | Euromaidan Press
Ukraine has been resisting the Russian invasion for almost two weeks. As Russia has been obliterating many Ukrainian cities where it faced military resistance, including Mariupol, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, the cities it managed to occupy in the first days of war continue peaceful protests against the Russian occupation.

For several days now, starting from 5 March, Ukrainian civilians are taking to the streets of Russian-occupied cities and towns. The unarmed citizens keep protesting under Ukrainian flags to show that the Russian troops aren’t welcome in Ukraine despite at least two cases when Putin’s soldiers opened fire on the protesters, killing one and wounding several more people.

The anti-occupation rallies have been taking place in the oblasts of Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson, earlier considered rather pro-Russian by many in Ukraine. Now, with incredible bravery, the unarmed locals show the unity of these regions with the rest of the country.

The name of the yacht is Scheherazade

Definition of Scheherazade
: the fictional wife of a sultan and the narrator of the tales in the Arabian Nights' Entertainments

Definition of SCHEHERAZADE

….

Not sure it’s a russian yacht. Jmo

"In Marina di Carrara, a small Italian town on the Tuscan coast, one of the world’s biggest, newest and most expensive superyachts — called the Scheherazade — is under scrutiny by the Italian police. Almost as long as a U.S. guided-missile destroyer, it dominates the waterfront.

The yacht, estimated by the website SuperYachtFan to cost about $700 million, has two helicopter decks and is studded with satellite domes. Inside, photos supplied by a former crew member show, is a swimming pool with a retractable cover that converts to a dance floor. Then there’s the fully equipped gym and the gold-plated fixtures in the bathrooms"

The ship’s captain, Guy Bennett-Pearce, a British national, denied that Mr. Putin owned or had ever been on the yacht. “I have never seen him. I have never met him,” he said. He added, in a phone interview from the yacht, that its owner was not on any sanctions list"
