Fear not, all doubters!!!
Sean Penn is helping....

Sean Penn
@SeanPenn

I JUST got off a call with President Zelensky’s Chief of staff, Andriy Yermak. Somewhere in the bureaucratic chain between our White House & the Polish Gov., the desperately NEEDED jets are not yet delivered to Ukraine. Public outcry may find the bottleneck.

Goodness...
The planes are a NATO decision. We are in this under NATO. Congress has granted no authority to the US military to participate in actions, other than assisting NATO. Russia considers the planes an attack on Russia.

Its not a bureaucratic chain problem. A Senator or House representative would need to create/draft a Bill authorizing the purchase and redistribution of the planes. Then it goes to an oversite committee for approval, then the House and Senate will vote.

He needs to find a Senator to sponsor a Bill, its not the WH.

Congress runs the United States, the most power the President has is Executive Orders and there are limits/ parameters on these.

Moo...

This is what distinguishes the persona of Putin from the persona of Zelenskyy. Putin will destroy anyone---his own people, children, his neighboring country. He doesn't care what the world thinks, in his appetite for complete annihilation.

Zelenskyy will save anyone, his own people, children---he had no interest in troubling anyone in Russia before this. He also doesn't care what the world thinks, in his determination to shelter his people.

Two men who won't back down, for exactly opposite purposes.

IMO Putin was fomenting plans for WWIII long ago. If not, he would not have commissioned this nuclear special-purpose submarine. He is on the offense, the Western world is on the defense.

IMO

it's terrifying for us ... I can't imagine what it's like for Ukrainians

Russia sends warplanes to Syria for huge naval drills in Med

The Russian military on Tuesday deployed long-range nuclear-capable bombers and fighter jets carrying state-of-the-art hypersonic missiles to its air base in Syria for massive naval drills in the region amid soaring tensions with the West over Ukraine.
Long-range, nuclear-capable Tu-22M3 bombers and MiG-31 fighter jets carrying the latest Kinzhal hypersonic cruise missiles landed at the Russian air base of Hemeimeem in Syria’s coastal province of Latakia as part of the drills. The military says the Kinzhal has a range of up to 2,000 kilometers (about 1,250 miles) and flies at 10 times the speed of sound, making it hard to intercept.

Maybe this is not about money, but about a joined effort to try to help a country and her civilians from destruction, without making it worse?....a WWIII

ok so any particular reason they have different stats?

The site notes the difference in stats but doesn't have an explanation. The site does offer the following information on the Global Firepower rankings. The GFPs rankings are for 2021.
The rankings are also combined totals and do not take into account each submarines' type, size, age, military function, or construction quality.

The IISS stats are for 2022. I am wading through the IISS site to try to find what information was used for their results

On a slightly lighter note..

''Russian president Vladimir Putin’s superyacht took off from a port in Germany, heading home to Russia. Experts say moving the $125 million vessel is an effort to prevent it from being seized by the west, should Russia invade Ukraine. The ship has been docked at a boatyard in Germany since December for refurbishment, but made a hurried exit upon completion. Putin’s official salary as president of Russia is $135,000 but he has reportedly amassed a fortune of $225 billion.

This is certainly true. But we NATO countries are just first getting hit by the outer bands of Hurricane Putin. At the moment, it's chiefly economically.

Putin has been on the world stage now for 22 years. He has had contempt for the West for every minute of that time. Among his own people, he has been responsible for the murders or attempted murders of anyone who spoke out against him. Even now, people will be imprisoned for 15 years, just for saying the word "war" regarding Ukraine.

Putin does not play nicely. He has been a troublemaker from the start. Although Zelenskyy is new on the world stage, I never even heard of him until he was on the receiving end of Trump's phone call, the one that ended up with Trump being impeached. Never heard of Zelenskyy again until now. He seemed to be minding his own business governing Ukraine.

I don't want to see WWIII. I know there are complicated rules governing NATO. But I wish we or any country had indeed gotten planes to Ukraine or issued a no-fly zone order. Of course to save Ukraine, but ultimately to have stopped Hurricane Putin before it lands on us, too.

IMO not throwing everything at Putin has been a mistake and the repercussions will only grow worldwide.

I hope I'm wrong.

Honestly, I'm horrified at the amount of nukes Russia and the United States possess. But someone has to counter balance Russia.

Or the other way round - the US was the first to amass nuclear weapons, and the first to use atomic bombs (Hiroshima & Nagasaki). See Oppenheimer.

this has a paywall for me but maybe not for others - can anyone give us a bit more info than the headline?

Russian tourists in Indonesia without cash as sanctions bite

When Russian tourist Konstantin Ivanov tried to withdraw money from his home bank account at a cash machine on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, the transaction was blocked.

Unprecedented sanctions against Russia's banks over its invasion of Ukraine are taking a toll on its citizens overseas, who have been left scrambling to find cash or turn to crypto transactions to get by.

Rifki Saldi Yanto, the manager of a local cafe, said he had noticed a decline in Russian customers in recent days and many now pay with cash instead of credit card.

Russia's embassy in Jakarta said it was providing information and assistance to any citizen who faced problems.

Denis Tetiushin, an embassy spokesperson, said Russia's Pochta Bank was now offering a virtual card using China's UnionPay system instead of Visa or Mastercard.

Meanwhile more than 7,000 Russians were stranded in Thailand, another popular beach destination because of flight cancellations, a rouble currency in free-fall and payment issues.

We invented them, yes. So you're saying it's the other way around that Russia needs their nuclear weapons to stop the US? I'm not understanding.

And it ended WW2. No one wants to see a repeat of that. Anywhere. JMO

Twitter unveils version of site that can bypass Russia block | AP News
Twitter has launched a privacy-protected version of its site to bypass surveillance and censorship after Russia restricted access to its service in the country.

Russia has blocked access to Facebook and has limited Twitter in an attempt to try to restrict the flow of information about its war in Ukraine. Both companies have said they are working on restoring access to people inside Russia even as they restrict the country’s state media from their services.

Known as an “onion” service, users can access this version of Twitter if they download the Tor browser, which allows people to access sites on what is also referred to as the “dark web.” Instead of .com, onion sites have a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 suffix. Regular websites, including Twitter.com, are also accessible on Tor, but the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 versions are made specifically for Tor and prevent the site from being spoofed by malicious actors.

Blinken says NATO countries have "green light" to send fighter jets to Ukraine - CBS News

Saturday: (from Sunday's MSM sources)
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky participated in a Zoom call with U.S. lawmakers on Saturday, during which he urged them to provide his country with military planes and impose an embargo on Russian oil. He also reiterated to lawmakers it could be the final time they see him alive, echoing a warning he has issued to European leaders.
Ukraine has made a ‘desperate’ plea for warplanes amid Russian invasion. Here’s why - National | Globalnews.ca

In a private video call with American lawmakers over the weekend, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a “desperate” plea to the United States to help Kyiv get more warplanes to fight Russia’s invasion and retain control of its airspace.
...
...
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken says Washington has given a “green light” to the idea and is currently “very, very actively” looking at a proposal under which Ukraine’s neighbour Poland would supply Kyiv with Soviet-era fighters and in turn receive American F-16s to make up for their loss.

However, the proposition is fraught with uncertainty and Poland has been less than enthusiastic about it in public, largely because Russia has warned that supporting Ukraine’s air force would be seen in Moscow as participating in the conflict and open up suppliers to possible retaliation. Official comment from NATO and European Union member Poland has been only to confirm continuing talks on the subject.

Also on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made a "desperate plea" to U.S. senators to send more planes. Zelensky made the request on a call joined by more than 300 people, including U.S. senators, some House lawmakers and aides.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, said in a statement he will do "all I can to help the administration to facilitate their transfer."
Schumer told Zelensky the U.S. lawmakers are inspired by him and by the strength and courage of the Ukrainian people, according to another person on the call who was granted anonymity to discuss it.
The U.S. Congress is also working on a $10-billion US package of military and humanitarian aid, and Schumer told Zelensky that lawmakers hope to send it to Ukraine quickly, the person on the call said.
Zelensky told senators he needs planes and drones more than other security tools, according to a senior Senate aide granted anonymity to discuss the private meeting.
Putin likens sanctions to 'declaring war,' warns Ukrainian statehood in jeopardy | CBC News
Blame that anonymous US Aide for making this story public - not Poland.

"That gets a green-light," Blinken said in an interview with "Face the Nation" when asked whether the Polish government, a member of NATO, could send fighter planes to Ukraine. "In fact, we're talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to backfill their needs if in fact they choose to provide these fighter jets to the Ukrainians. What can we do? How can we help to make sure that they get something to backfill the planes that they are handing over to the Ukrainians?"
...
...

The first public mention of fighter jets going from Poland to Ukraine ... came from an official US sources (Mr. Blinken - the US Secretary of State), despite that a "anonymous Senator's Aide" leaked it first, it was confirmed by an official representative of your nation.

Sunday:
The stories hit the news. Thanks US, but hey, at least they included the fact that Poland wasn't all for this plan (due to that threat from Russia about their provision).

Yet, the US insisted all week that it was planned for Poland to hand over planes, the US would backfill and it was a green-lighted deal by the US.

Now, because it became public (by a US source) and the US was insistent on the deal being "green-lighted" as "go ahead and give them to them Poland and we will backfill you" while actually showing much wavering back in the USofA about actually living up to it's International NATO agreements and helping to defend Poland should Russia treat this as an act of war, Poland says, "fine US, we'll exchange them through you then".

Oooops. And, seeing today's statements coming out of the US about the jets "not being a good idea" - Poland made the right call. The US was all for it and green-lighting it even after Putin said it would be considered an act of war as long as Poland did the deed and the US could claim clean hands .... until it's NATO partner, Poland, said "you hand them over then".

We indeed live in interesting times. The wavering continues. As does the genocide ...

Meanwhile, the same crew in the US government who'd brush off their NATO partner here was screaming at Obama to get his butt in to Syria a few years ago. Hmmmm. The irony indeed.

Oh, and one of those links actually has Mr. Blinken on video discussing; give it a watch.

threaten nuclear war knowing it could mean destruction of
Russia as well as other countries---

The frightenng thing is if he is backed against the wall
he may feel since Russia is doomed anyway, he might
