Also feeling conflicted about the poisoned food and drink... although understandable from the Ukrainian point of view, it is sad that they have to resort to the dirty methods of the evil ones, hopefully it will not be ''reciprocated'' in kind by P, imo, speculation.

I'm afraid it will.

This is (again) not a very comforting situation for peace talks...No.... you shoot civilians just like that....starving people in Mariupol...raping women...steal jewelry from people...etc. etc...very inconvenient...I'm so fed up with it....it's sooooo wrong.

Orthodox Easter is on April 24th. I have been wondering if they might negotiate an Easter truce. But as I look back on the news from April 2021 and the fighting between Ukraine and Russia that was going on in the eastern part of the country at that time, I see that an Easter truce did not take place, they weren't able to negotiate that from either side.

Nonetheless, hoping and praying that an Easter truce will be agreed upon this year and better yet, a peace negotiation before then.

While a pause at Easter may be short-lived, it would be a good sign that both sides can agree on something, and continue to move forward with negotiations from there.

Perhaps Orthodox leaders can play a role in this, somehow exert pressure on the negotiations, perhaps as it gets closer to Holy Week.

I'm confused....this is not a war crime because given by civilians.....and they took it.....I totally do understand them......I will never ever say I wouldn't have done it....but why am I feeling sad for this guys and their families too?

I personally am not conflicted. I would protect my family any way possible. Perhaps, that's what happened here. JMO

You never know where you're capable off...when you have to decide....Some reflection here is needed...I'm a woman...and I always said...when certain people harm my folks really bad...I hire somebody....would I, could I....I hear my macho papa ringing in my ears...Same, but another question I can't finger out...what would I have done when they deported the Jews.....

Live updates | Zelenskyy: Troops shell retreating Russians | AP News
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian troops retaking areas around Kyiv and Chernihiv are not allowing Russians to retreat without a fight, but are “shelling them. They are destroying everyone they can.”

Zelenskyy, in his Saturday night video address to the nation, said Ukraine knows Russia has the forces to put even more pressure on the east and south of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy has been speaking on the US political talkshow Face the Nation, accusing Russia of trying to wipe out Ukraine and its people, and calling for the Russian president Vladimir Putin and his military commanders to be held accountable for atrocities allegedly committed by withdrawing Russian troops.

[...]

When we find people with hands tied behind their back and decapitated, such things I don’t understand. I don’t comprehend the kids who were killed and tortured. It wasn’t enough just to kill, for those criminals? Maybe they wanted to take gold, or washing machines as they were killing, but they were also torturing them as they did this.”

About holding the perpetrators accountable for war crimes, Zelenskiy added: “It wouldn’t be fair to take only [Putin]. All the military commanders, everyone who gave instructions and orders should be punished adequately.

This is this morning's interview done by CNN's Fareed Zakaria with Mikhail Khodorkovsky, at one time the richest man in Russia. He was a Putin ally, then critic and was thrown in jail for 10 years. He now lives outside Russia under threats still from Putin's Russia.

It's a very clarifying perspective on the monster that is Putin. I hope this is the full interview.

I read in Russian press that Moscow holding cells are overfilled.

At some point...like in America's history of No Taxation Without Representation and the Boston Tea Party...you'd think the majority will say, "NO MORE!!".

If the jails are full to brimming you know they will just bus them elsewhere. When family members start disappearing maybe the doubting Thomases and Putin worshippers will finally start to see and BELIEVE the horror Putin and his "Igors" have done.

At some point doesn't it, the lies, all just have to crumble and the clouds of deception part? Can a whole country truly be kept in the dark, in 2022, to the horrors we're seeing as the Russians leave areas they've occupied? It's revolting enough that it should cause revolt.

I assume he is referring to the use of nukes to deter Russian aggression against Poland, and not Ukraine?

Very good read, thanks Charot123.

Someone telling it like it is...people just need to live, to think and feel freely <3

“I was born in the Soviet Union,” Karina, a 50-year-old art director, told me. “It’s all coming back now. The army is all over Moscow. If you say something out of line they will stop and arrest you. There is fear everywhere.

The problem is that there are many Russians who cannot admit our mistakes, cannot realize that we are trapped in a nightmare. Russians are very sensitive to criticism. They can criticize ourselves, but if it’s coming from outside, they take it very personally. People don’t want to admit mistakes. It’s much easier to watch TV and absorb the government propaganda. It’s easier to not think.

We did it for the 70 years of the Soviet Union and now it’s the same psychology again. Anti-Putin people are probably in the minority. You have this vast country with many people who are poor and who have never travelled abroad. They are very isolated, with no communication, only their television. They work hard all day, come home exhausted and the TV is their only source.

But the world needs to know that not all Russians are for Putin. I love my country. It’s a great country. I am proud to speak Russian, to be Russian. But now I must leave my country and not come back.

My poor 81-year-old mother dreamed all her life for her country to be free. At the train station this morning she was crying as she said goodbye to me with the saddest words I’ve ever heard in my life.”

“I was born behind this wall,” her mother said, “and now I will die behind it as well."

Disturbing video at link..
Ukraine documents alleged atrocities by retreating Russians - CBS News
''Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said scores of killed civilians were found on the streets of Bucha and the Kyiv suburbs of Irpin and Hostomel in what looked like a "scene from a horror movie."

Arestovych said some people were shot in the head and had their hands bound, and some bodies showed signs of torture, rape and burning.''

''The capital city's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said civilians were "shot with joined hands" and told German newspaper Bild that "what happened in Bucha and other suburbs of Kyiv can only be described as genocide."

A day earlier, AP journalists witnessed Ukrainian soldiers gingerly removing at least six bodies from a street in Bucha with cables in case the Russians had booby-trapped corpses with explosives before their withdrawal. Local residents said the dead people were civilians killed without provocation, a claim that could not be independently verified.

Klitschko called on other nations to immediately end Russian gas imports, saying they were funding the invasion of Ukraine, now in its 39th day.''

Oleh’s younger brother, Denys Fedko, spoke with his mother Anna as the family was driving by the column of Russian troops.

“I was talking with my mother when I heard her begging them to stop shooting, shouting that there were children in the car. I heard little Ivan crying loudly; he was only a month and a half old. Then I heard shots… and silence, and then shots again. There were three rounds of two to three shots. I understood that it was all over… They killed my family in cold blood!”

The three adults died on the spot – Oleh Fedko Senior, his wife Hanna and his daughter-in-law Iryna. The first car returned and took away the children, who were still alive, but barely breathing. The relatives drove them to the hospital in Nova Kakhovka, where the children died in the operating room.

Not all is black or white..Today, I saw a Russian mass car rally rally in Berlin.

Some social media are posting: “ that pro Putin’s protesters gathered in 5000 cars in Berlin to show support for Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Many of them waved Soviet and “Z symbol”- flags.”

That isn’t correct :
“About 900 people took part in a motorcade with Russian flags in Berlin on Sunday. The move with several hundred vehicles was registered as an event entitled "No propaganda in the school - protection for Russian-speaking people, no discrimination", according to the Berlin police. A sign read: "Stop hating Russians" (stop hating Russians). A number of cars carried flags in the Russian national colors of white, blue and red.”

Russian troops near Kharkiv died after eating poisoned stuffed buns given to them as 'gifts' by Ukrainian citizens, a Ukrainian intelligence agency has claimed.

Two soldiers from the 3rd Motor Rifle Division died immediately after eating the delicacies served by the citizens of Izium, a Facebook post by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine announced on Saturday.

Another 28 Russian troops are in intensive care after the poisoning with several hundred others also suffering from 'severe illnesses' after drinking poisoned alcohol given to them by civilians.

I think Anonymous ought to send these pictures and more to every email and phone number they manage to acquire. I think they should keep on hacking the state tv signals and broadcast these pictures. That emergency weather station that now asks for people to snitch on neighbors talking truths about the WAR in Ukraine, send the truth through that if possible. Maybe some brave souls can photocopy fliers with these photos and drop them from tall buildings on a windy day, all over Russia. Sorry, a bit of a rant and AJMO

I honestly, think that Russians are in denial, but it must be due to psychological shock. They have to absorb deaths of their own young people in Ukraine, for nothing. They have to absorb monumental sanctions. The iron curtain again. If they see this, they will simply lose their mind.

Because they didn't ask for this war...

Between Russia and Ukraine, things will be as horrible as possible till at least one more generation. Maybe more.

4 mln displaced is a lot. It is a catastrophe of its own.

Now as the war is close to its end, hopefully, the attention is drawn towards Russia...
