More from Zelenskiy’s latest address, in which he also claims that Russia has lost more troops in Ukraine than it did in two Chechen wars. “What for?” he asks.

[In Ukrainian]: Our brave defenders continue causing the Russian forces devastating losses. Very soon, the number of downed Russian helicopters will reach 100. They have already lost 80 military places, hundreds of tanks, thousands of other military vehicles and equipment. In 19 days, the Russian army had more soldiers killed than in two bloody wars in Chechnya. What for?

[In Russian] I’m thankful to those Russians who don’t stop trying to deliver the truth, who are fighting against disinformation and tell real facts to their friends and families, and personally to that woman who went in the studio of Channel One with an anti-war poster. Those who aren’t afraid to protest. As long as your country isn’t completely closed from the rest of the world, turning into a huge North Korea, you have to fight, you don’t have to miss your chance.

[In Ukrainian] The EU has approved the fourth package of sanctions against Russia. I’m sure it’s not the last one. We are working with partners on new restrictions that will be imposed against Russia. Every person who is responsible for the war, who is responsible for destroying a democracy and repressions against people. Everyone will get a retaliation from the world. And it’s only the beginning. Accountability for war crimes is inevitable. Accountability for deliberately manufactured humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine is inevitable. The whole world is seeing what’s happening in Mariupol, Kharkiv, Sumy, Okhtyrka, Hostomel, Irpin. All our partners are informed about crimes of the occupants against civilians and local governments in Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

Ukraine peace talks resume as Russian ex-foreign minister calls for ceasefire – latest news | World news | The Guardian

The final part of Zelensky’s address, in which he updates Ukrainians on his diplomatic efforts and says talks continue on Tuesday:

On March 14, we managed to evacuate 3,806 Ukrainians from [encircled] cities and towns. Our convoy of trucks with 100 tons of much needed humanitarian aid for Mariupol is still held up in Berdyansk. For a third day. However, we will keep trying to deliver food, water, and medication to the people of Mariupol. Every aggressive action of the invaders only pushes the world for more sanctions. I spoke to Ursula von der Leyen, Andrzej Duda, Xavier Bettel. There’s 100% of mutual understanding. I spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Bennett as part of negotiations effort to finish this war as soon as possible with honest peace. Our delegation has also worked on it at the talks with the Russian side. Pretty well, as it was reported to me. But we will see. They will continue tomorrow.

Cabinet of ministers approved a support package for the economy and businesses so that people had work where it is safe. We are launching a fiscal reform. Instead of an added-value tax and income tax, we will introduce a 2% turnover tax and simplified accounting. For small businesses, individual entrepreneurs, we make the payment of the unified tax voluntary. If you can, pay. You can’t, no questions. Secondly, maximum deregulation of business. We cancel all state inspections for all businesses so that they keep working and everyplace where there is no fighting continued to live. We have only on condition: You have to ensure your business operates within the Ukrainian law. And it’s only the beginning of our fiscal reform.

[In the end he said he signed an order to award Ukrainian soldiers]

Reporter Benjamin Hall, injured in Kyiv, says the media has not been manipulated to garner more emotional impact with it's coverage of Ukraine's war.

"This is not the media trying to drum up some emotional response. This is absolutely what's happening," Hall told Fox News...

The cities "are being absolutely flattened," he said. "From all corners of this country, people are fleeing for safety."

Hall added that people from Mariupol are drinking water from puddles because they can't get out of the city...

"It's an absolute catastrophe. The people caught in the middle are the ones who are really suffering,"...

"It is a tragic, tragic thing happening in this country," Hall concluded. 'But it is only set to get worse."

War should be over by May when Russia runs out of troops – Zelenskiy adviser

The war in Ukraine should be over by May because Russia will run out of resources to keep the invasion going, Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to the Ukrainian president’s chief of staff, has claimed.

Citing a video published by several Ukrainian media outlets, Reuters reports that Arestovich said the exact timing would depend on how much resources the Kremlin was willing to commit to the campaign.

“I think that no later than in May, early May, we should have a peace agreement, maybe much earlier, we will see, I am talking about the latest possible dates,” Arestovich said.

“We are at a fork in the road now: there will either be a peace deal struck very quickly, within a week or two, with troop withdrawal and everything, or there will be an attempt to scrape together some, say, Syrians for a round two and, when we grind them too, an agreement by mid-April or late April.”

“Today we seized – the technical term is provisionally immobilised – a yacht belonging to one of the principal oligarchs,” Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez said on La Sexta television on Monday. “We are talking about a yacht that we estimate is worth $140m.”

“There will be more,” he added, without elaborating. Monitoring site Marine Traffic has said that yachts linked to two other oligarchs who are not yet sanctioned were also docked in Barcelona.

The 85-metre (279ft) superyacht Valerie belongs to Sergei Chemezov, a former KGB officer who heads state conglomerate Rostec, two sources told Reuters.

Zelensky praises Russian TV editor for 'telling the truth' after she was arrested for protest on state television against Putin's war and said 'they can't put us all in prison'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has praised the Russian TV editor who ran onto a live state TV news with a sign protesting Moscow's invasion of Ukraine that read: 'Stop the war... They can't put us all in prison'.

'I am grateful to those Russians who do not stop trying to convey the truth. To those who fight disinformation and tell the truth, real facts to their friends and loved ones,' Zelensky said in a Telegram video uploaded Tuesday, CNN reported.

The president also spoke directly to Marina Ovsyannikova, an editor on the Russian TV channel Pervyi Kanal (Channel One) who held up a sign on the broadcaster's main evening news show, Vremya, that said: 'Stop the war! Don't believe propaganda! They're lying to you here! Russians against war.'

EU leaders travel to Ukraine to show support

Leaders of NATO countries Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia intend on Tuesday to travel to Kyiv in a joint EU mission to show their support for Ukraine, reports AP.

"The purpose of the visit is to show the EU's support for Ukraine and its freedom and independence," Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala wrote on Twitter.

He will be accompanied by Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski.

During the visit, it is stated that a concrete emergency package will be presented by the ministers, who will also speak in their capacity as EU representatives.

The visit is made as a result of Russian troops' advance and approaches to the capital Kyiv, which on Tuesday morning has been subjected to several bombings.

Ukrainian President Volodmyr Zelensky's staff confirms that the visit will take place during the day, reports Reuters.

Delegation is said to have crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border early in the morning.”

EU adopts fourth set of sanctions against Russia
The EU has adopted the fourth round of sanctions against Russia, banning the export of luxury goods and import of steel products, as well as targeting new oligarchs.

The EU imposed a new set of sanctions against Russia “in response to its brutal aggression against Ukraine and its people,” the European Commission announced in a statement welcoming the decision of EU member states.

“These sanctions will further contribute to ramping up economic pressure on the Kremlin and cripple its ability to finance its invasion of Ukraine,” the statement said.

BNR | Oligarchen hebben vliegtuigen op Aruba geregistreerd
Russische oligarchen registreerden zeker tien vliegtuigen op Aruba | NU - Het laatste nieuws het eerst op NU.nl

At least ten aircraft registered in Aruba <an autonomous country and as such part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and a member of the EU> are in the hands of Russian oligarchs against whom international sanctions have been declared. These include Roman Abramovich and Viktor Vekselberg. That is what Minister of Transport Ursell Arends said to Aruban media.

Arends confirms that the aircraft are in the aviation register of his country, but for the time being no action has been taken against this. According to him, Aruba is on the same line as the Netherlands and the European Union when it comes to international sanctions. The sanctions were imposed to punish Russia and wealthy businessmen around President Putin for the war in Ukraine.

'Measures if necessary'
According to Minister Arends, Aruba will take measures against the Russian owners 'if necessary'. In the aviation register, which is a lucrative source of income for Aruba, more aircraft are registered in the name of persons from the former Soviet Union.

Aruban media report that the Russian billionaires have registered large aircraft. Abramovich is said to have registered a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and a Boeing 767 Extended Range and Vekselberg an Airbus A319-100 ACJ.
