They are saying Saddam is a POW of the US. "We" handed him over to the Iraq authorities today so the lawyer is asking the US to step in as it is against the laws of war to hand a prisoner over to the enemy. Which is BS because WE are his enemy.

Fox is reporting that they believe the body will be quietly buried somewhere in Iraq and the spot not reported for many years.

I heard that he will be given to his wife in Yemen, but that they hope one day to be able to return him to Iraq to be buried.

I heard it was his daughter, not his wife, who wants him buried in Yemen but Fox is saying that the request will not be honored. There would be more of a danger of people trying to get to the body if it was in transit. It has to be buried within 24 hours. They are reporting that it will be quietly buried close by in Iraq from what I understand.

I'm watching Larry King and the a caption came up saying "US judge denying Saddam stay of execution" What does the US judge have to do with this? I thought the Iraq courts tried him? I feel like a :loser: ....I should have watched more Court TV!!

They filed an appeal in the Federal Court because Saddam is a defendant in a Alien Torts Act civil lawsuit brought by an American for monetary damages. They're trying to say that if he's executed, the American plaintiff's right to face him in court is not honored. That was rejected by the Federal Court. The plain fact is that the US is holding money that belongs to him and that can be placed in the registry of the court to use to pay any damages awarded. Saddam would most likely not have testified in that case even if we brought him to the US to face that action, which wasn't very likely.

They must have left Syria. That was the last place I remember the family being. They will probably quietly bury in an unmarked grave for now. They don't want anyone making a shrine of his burial place from what I heard on the news.
