Article with a lot of the same information as his Doenet listing. It mentions that there was a man named Jeffrey Daniel who lived near the address our John Doe gave:

"And during previous weeks, he had given the name Jeffrey Daniel and a New York address as he was checked into Aiken Regional Hospital and the state hospital after a previous suicide attempt.

The address didn't pan out. And a Jeffrey Daniel who lives at a nearby address was alive when Aiken County coroners talked to him less than two weeks ago."

Does anybody know which of several Augusta's in the country the t-shirt is talking about? I'm not finding a Fleming Park in any of them.

How come this fellow is not on NamUs? I thought maybe he had been identified, but found him on South Carolina Unidentified site. sam spade I searched the Canadian missing site and had thought Mr. Churney bore resemblance.

I know that the circumstances don't line up, but the man found in the motel looks sort of like Michael Beaudoin (IMO). Their vital statistics are close and Mr. Beaudoin has a scar near his left eye (no mention of the scar on his right cheek or a cyst on his hip). Both also sound like they may have a history of drug use.

I noticed that sometimes discount stores (Dollar Tree, 99 cents Only Stores, etc.) sometimes sell products intended for other countries; I wonder if the "Canadian Deodorant" that they found in the room was something like that or they are certain it came from Canada?

I don't know if this website has the most accurate listing of SC UID's. I checked to see what the most recent updates were because I recognized one of the Doe's listed.

I actually wasn't wrong about my quick impression.
http://www.sc-coroners.org/Unknown3.htm is still on the site despite being identified way back in 1999 (as Jackie Council).

I checked to see if it is just an old site that hadn't been updated in years. Their "upcoming events" page has things from this year. I just wonder why the page about Council is still there with no mention that she was identified.

I found a Fleming Park in Augusta, GA 1941 Lumpkin Rd, 30 minutes from Aiken. I wonder why he kept going back to Aiken? Why not a different town the next attempt around?
Watertown NY is right by a large base, Fort Drum. Could he be a serviceman who was suffering PTSD or something? An hour or so north is a somewhat well known sex offender treatment program at Potsdam's St Lawrence Psychiatric Center... Just something that came to mind, especially if no one is looking for him.
And then there's the possibility that the items he had were from a thrift store or give to him at hospital, and have no connection to his actual identity?

I am from Augusta, Ga and was about to post where Fleming Park is, ya beat me to it. It's in South Augusta, I live in Aiken, SC now.

I hope he is identified one day.

Thanks for the bump U2forever. This UID is still not on NamUs, so I sent Aiken SC ME office a quick e-mail to see if he is still unidentified. Hope to hear back soon.

Oops, I didn't know reddit links were not allowed. Thanks for the reply, I found it and also the link for Doe Network.
He did accomplish what he originally set out to do, how sad.
Godspeed 'Jeffery Daniel'. You are not forgotten, who ever you may be.

My OCD is in overdrive this weekend, so I thought I'd try to put it to good use and found this guy...

Timothy Clayton Crissman (Charley Project)
Timothy Clayton Crissman (NamUS)

He was about the same size/age as this fellow (39-y/o, 5'10", 200-lbs), had both brown hair/eyes and was "possibly suicidal" when he was last seen.
NamUS lists him as coming up missing on 8/10/1996. For some reason, Charley gives a timeframe (8/10-11/3/1996) as his date of last contact.

He went missing from his farm in Armstrong County, PA (not sure of the location in the county). That is a little NE of Pittsburgh (adjoining county). Taking the Canadian/French items into consideration, it's about a couple hundred miles from Buffalo (NY) and Niagara Falls. I couldn't find anything about him having (or not having) access to a vehicle, but he was apparently in a car wreck shortly before his disappearance was noted (so sometime in early-8/1996).

Watertown, NY (where the duffel bag was from) is around the "next eastward" main crossing point (from the Niagara Falls area) to Canada. By that, I mean where a river serves as the border (not one of the Great Lakes). The victim was way too old for the "Class of '94" on the duffel bag, but he could have either found it or got it at a flea market or Goodwill store in that general area.

The main things I see that point to this not being Crissman are a few physical things. His legs are a couple inches different in length and have burn scars from a prior motorcycle accident.
He also may have had MS, which I thought would have been noted for the UID. I said "may" about the MS because Charley mentions it and NamUS doesn't.
The timing for Crissman may also seem off, but if he really was suicidal (or had some kind of "mental breakdown") he could have wandered or traveled around afterward. We at least know that the UID was a wanderer for a little while before he died.

I also thought of a couple things to ponder regarding the UID. Forgive me if they've already been brought up and I missed them...

He probably had GERD or an ulcer or something of that nature due to all of the TUMS found. I don't know if many people would have known about him having such, as TUMS (or Rolaids, Gaviscon, etc) were just about the only "heartburn" meds you could get easily back then. Pepcid, Prevacid and other meds like that all still required doctors back then and there were fewer of them available Many of them are OTC now, at least in smaller doses.

Also, what kind of antidepressants did he OD on if that's what killed him? He likely got them from a doctor somewhere. I don't know of a "black market" for antidepressants (i.e. patients selling or trading pain/nerve pills).
...Unless some drugs like Xanax or Valium were generically called "antidepressants" due to them being used for mental (rather than physical) health. I've seen that happen before.

Hmm, I did not see the two facial scars that the UID has, as well as a receding hairline.
Thanks for the links and the help bflocket.
