A judge in South Carolina has approved a partial settlement of more than $1 million for a newlywed husband turned widower who lost his wife on a South Carolina beach road just hours after their wedding in April 2023.

[...]

In May 2023, Hutchinson filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against Komoroski, local bars and businesses, and 20 Doe defendants. Some businesses reached a tentative settlement with the grieving groom last October; a court signed off on that agreement on Thursday.

While Hutchinson accused Komoroski of “bar hopping” that night, he accused The Crab Shack, Taco Boy, The Drop In/Folly Deli, Snapper Jacks, and El Gallo of overserving her — allowing the alleged drunk driver to continue purchasing alcohol when they knew she was drunk.

The court ordered The Crab Shack to pay $640,000, The Folly Deli to pay $320,000, Snapper Jacks to pay $320,000, Progressive Northern Insurance Company to pay $75,000, and Enterprise Rent-a-Car to pay $24,000. In sum, the settlement amounts to some $1.379 million, according to a report by CBS News.

I haven’t thought of this but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I still don't know what her trial date is...probably doing everything to stall it. Must be nice to have wealthy parents. She is literally living at home like a little princess in a castle.

Good grief! Look at her Instagram account! Party lifestyle. First page, "Did someone say tequila?". Read the comments. Surprised her page is still active.

I’m thinking that as she may live it up now, there is a hard awaken on the way and this will make it harder to swallow.

All of her Instagram posts are from before the crimes - I highly doubt she is living it up with an ankle monitor but you never know.

"The woman accused of reckless homicide and driving drunk in the death of a Folly Beach bride may go to trial this year, a new court record shows."

"The 9th Circuit's Chief Administrative Judge, Deadra Jefferson, signed an order Oct. 30 to summon 300 additional jurors for jury selection in the case against Jamie Lee Komoroski during the first week of December."

"Komoroski's case is currently in the seventh position on the docket for the week beginning Dec. 2. This is the first time a date for this case has been made public, according to an attorney close to the matter."

Finally. Holidays are so hard for the victims families.

I am surprised she hasn't worked out a settlement or plea deal yet. Probably dragging it out for as long as possible. Wouldn't be surprised if she shows up pregnant or front and center with a new baby.

Is she out on bail while awaiting trial?? I didn't realize they had allowed her bail if so.

Yes. She has been on "house arrest" with an ankle monitor.

Surprised she didn't take her Instagram account private - comments in all of her posts are brutal.

I know!!!! I noticed that before too! TEQUILA!!! Seriously?!

The victim has severe medical problems and brain damage. In addition to his wife being killed within literal minutes of being married. There is no compensation for that type of dramatic life change. The money the victim received is nothing in comparison to the injuries received.

Just have to say, it is rare that I hate a Defendant as much as I hate JK. I think Michelle Troconis comes close, but this Komoroski chick makes my blood boil.

If you read about the victim, the mother of the victim tried to get the money from her daughter's estate, as she said that the marriage was not valid as it had not been consummated. Therefore, the husband was not entitled to any of the money from the settlement, as it was for her daughter's estate.

This article has not been posted. I am glad AH received a settlement, but it seems such a small amount.
So sorry for his loss. No amount of money will ever replace his bride. He's lost so much, and also has his own physical injuries. Very tragic case.

A South Carolina judge approved just over $1.3 million in a partial settlement in the wrongful death case of a bride killed by a suspected drunk driver just hours after being married.

@CourtTV

#NextLiveTrial: #JamieKomoroski faces up to 85 years in prison if convicted of killing a bride on her wedding night. Prosecutors say the 27-year-old was driving drunk, having a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit, when she hit the newlyweds.

Seeing her face makes me very rage-y… ugh I really despise her and her attitude and I hope she gets the harshest punishment possible

I vaguely followed this case, so not familiar w/her attitude but most drunks have attitude and entitlement issues. Been around too many of them. I cant support any drunk driver, especially when the evidence is there.

In addition, no one needs to be a drunk driver, there are always options. Utilize those options!

All my own opinions.

I can’t believe she will go to a trial with all of the digital evidence they have. Her statements about thinking somebody hit her and the quote about “this happening to her” just seems hard to beat. Maybe they have a plan?

Yeah I'm surprised they didn't offer a plea deal considering it's a slam dunk. Is there anything controversial? Like maybe golf carts are not allowed on that road or something? It still wont absolve you even if that were the case. MOO

I think that the defense is just letting this play out for as long as possible, and we will probably see a deal prior to trial. After all, JK has no reason to go for a deal now, it just puts her in prison that much faster.

We saw the same strategy with the "Long Island Cesspool Socialite".
