I expected this to be an open and shut case, with a verdict the same day.
Now I'm not so sure.

There were 1000's of photos of her and her daughter.
I’m assuming you mean 1000s of photos depicting csa. Do you have an LE source confirming this? IMO, there are so many wild allegations flying around, deliberate smear campaigns, and other assorted crimes. This may well be true but I would like to see legitimate confirmation if such confirmation exists.

ZH killed CP. It was a violent crime up close and personal. So the defense has to come up with a creative way where he pleads guilty and they can get him a not guilty verdict. Reminds me of the Candace Montgomery story. She pled guilty and claimed her mother abused her. She snapped and hacked Betty Gore a lot of times. Overkill.

Same thing here except ZH didn't snap. He goes the high road and becomes the little girl's redeemer by saving her from further abuse. He's a martyr who for some reason is JM’s fall guy. Most fathers if they found their little girl was being abused would not hire a classical pianist to kill the abuser. He'd do it himself.

It doesn't add up. And Lutina Parcel! That is a lot of rage at that man. I've got my thoughts. Sheesh. What a mess.

This is what a fav attorney of mine stated:

When a jury has this many questions, it usually means the parties did a poor job articulating the instructions during closing arguments."

THIRD QUESTION FROM JURY:
The judge reentered the court room and read the question aloud.

Jury question: Explain the difference between first degree conspiracy to commit harassment and second degree conspiracy to commit harassment

Oh my word. If not malice, that's a whole heck of a lot of (righteous?!?!) energy to stab and slash over 30 times /s. If no conviction, what a precedent. All IMO.

I think CP fought hard for her life, IIRC that was described, she was probably pretty fit and agile, this maybe means there was an extra level of violence involved in him trying to overpower her as opposed to 'overkill' but all the same it's likely over a sustained amount of time where anyone could stop and come to their senses a bit or reconsider. The judge will re-charge them on conspiracy & also direct them to the verdict form.

I’m with you!
His testimony was very disturbing I thought.
After hearing him describe the murder my first thought was this guy is everything he accused his adopted sister of being. He’s wanted to do this type of thing for a long time but managed to control it. Mello’s situation presented his opportunity.
Lucky for us, they arrested him, because I think he would have done it again. And again. And again.
Frightening to think he might be back on the street.
I'm just now starting to listen to his testimony from yesterday. Ready to buckle in.

"I just kept striking her and striking her until finally, we fell on the floor, and at this point, I had just tried to take my mind out of it and just try to get through this and finish it as quickly as possible," Hughes said

Guilty on all counts. The jury opted for second degree on both the harassment and conspiracy charges.
