GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (AP) - An investigation has begun after police discovered two bodies in a shallow grave in the backyard of a residence in Goose Creek.

An investigation is underway after Goose Creek Police discovered a shallow grave in the back yard of a residence on Pandora Dr. in Goose Creek.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, unearthing two unidentified bodies from the gravesite.

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office was notified by the Goose Creek Police Department of a possible death earlier this morning.

Coroner Salisbury and the Deputy Coroner responded to an address on Pandora Drive in the city of Goose Creek.

James Edward Loftis, of Goose Creek, is charged with two counts of murder, said Lt. JS Crafton.

Goose Creek Police media release, an officer met with a woman Saturday night at the station who said her husband was suicidal and had claimed to have killed and buried two people in the backyard while she was out of town.

Loftis was expected to post $250,000 bail and be freed sometime this week...

Authorities have said Loftis’ account of the episode has varied, but his attorney insisted that one aspect has remained constant: the two people he shot had confronted him in his own home. He did, though, call his client’s actions afterward “heinous.”
