Hypothetically... if I were to totally lose control and harm a young girl who might be messing around with my husband, well, I would of course take the battery out of her cell phone. But, I think, at some point later... I would put that battery back later to read all the text messages and phone calls they exchanged. I'm very sleuthy that way.

I checked the Horry County arrests. Saw my ex-husband's name on there. OMG!

edit: just to clarify... not my REAL ex's name, just someone with the same name lol

I am not a 20 year old and my phone is RARELY shut all the way off. Unless she didn't want to be contacted on purpose I highly doubt she turned her phone off. The battery may have died or if she were a victim someone else may have removed battery/ shut off/ threw in lake etc. JMO of course but a 20 year old girl these days is rarely without cell/internet access.

IMO Heather's phone is in the Waccamaw River at PTL.

new member, first post.

First, i have a son a bit younger than he. It is not unusual for him to be on his phone/sm at 2 or 3 am, especially if he doesn't have work or school the next day.

Second, my phone records show in and outgoing. Also, if someone had my phone, they would have immediate access to all my social media, as i have it set up so i don't have to log in to every account each time i use them.

I had another point, but it escapes me. You are all amazing. I'm feeling a bit out of my league.

welcome !!!!!!!

This cell phone is very important to this case. Either HE had it with her when she was separated from her car OR the perp took it. Now if the perp took it and later decided to check some info out on it, then there will be pings, right?

So...if the police do know her last communication...which I assume they would...wouldn't that person be considered a POI unless otherwise cleared? Have they even stated they have a POI? Sure, they may choose not to state it, but wouldn't stating we have a POI without stating who the POI actually is cause more of a possible adverse reaction from the one behind her disappearance?

Certainly, the one truly guilty would know it could be themselves rather than rumored possibilities even if the rumors are true.

I don't think you would because you would want that person to basically hang themselves. That's just my theory

I agree you would, but here is what my thoughts are and saying as much as I can. They announce HE talked to the roommate immediately. If she talked to someone else after, I am sleuthing she did because of the quote, then my assumption is they don't know who it was, meaning they have no proof. So why wouldn't they want the publics help to find out who it was then. I do on the flip side, see your point that they would want someone to hang themselves, but how do they even know where to look?

CJ,

Don't ever be too intimidated to post. We're not out of your league; we are all in the same league here, the "justice league" :) A lot of times the freshest eyes are the widest.

Correct, pings OR if the sim card was removed…IP addresses of the signal they were using

Also, cross checking pings on any of the people mentioned in the PR to see if they were at the same locations

Re; phone being off...what if someone who she wanted to "walk away from" was repeatedly calling her, or maybe someone close to that person was...maybe she would turn it off to stop that...at least for the time being.

I agree with you. IMO, it was either one of the first things done that early morning (soon after HE got there) or one of the last things (when car was dropped off). For my money, I'm going with one of the first things. JMO

Good theory but wouldn't that mean He passwords would have been stored in her phone. I know nothing about tumblr. Is tumblr even popular I thought it was twitter and instagram.

That's interesting! This also brings to mind someone could have discovered the passwords to her accounts. Many times people keep their info on their phone. I wonder if she had her phone password protected? The reason I say this, is LE would have the phone records and know when her phone was last used, however if someone were logging in from their pc to these accounts there would be access records. So these accounts could be very important, especially if someone were making changes.

If that was the case ,the perp is one smart cookie to plan that out in advance and to know her passwords(there are passwords to tumblr,right?)..so then you would say this was an "event" that wasn't spontaneous? or that HE's actions with this person at the time they met really played no role in her disappearance because things were set in motion?

Here is EXACTLY what I did: I made a tumblr acct on my computer this morning around 11. I downloaded the app on my phone right afterward. Now that I have signed in on my phone it is in my acct. I don't have to sign in every time I tumblr on my phone.

Here is a link to the acct I made, so you can see the posts: http://carolinaash.tumblr.com/

You'll note that one of those posts is dated yesterday.

Additionally, using the app on my phone someone could find out what e-mail I used to sign up, have a forgotten password e-mail sent, retrieve the e-mail from my phone and reset the password to something they picked. Then they could play on my tumblr on their computer all they wanted to.

Regarding the reward, my family and I went to two restaurants yesterday in NMB, and both had older reward posters with 1k reward listed. While one would hope that people who know something would be compelled end to come forward regardless if the reward, there is quite a difference between 1k and 25-30k.

With so many people looking to volunteer, perhaps they should take a stack of new posters around to replace the old ones.

The "newness" of the posters will also generate more chatter and refresh Heather's disappearance in patrons' minds, IMO, even if only subconsciously.

I think they dont want that person to get rid of evidence or create an albi. Also they might still be investigating that person. Truthfully I agree with you but I am sure Le has their reasons.

If that were the case, her phone records would not show who or where the call came from. There has to be something FROM Heather's phone because all they have to go on are her phone records, and they are specific only as to who she texts and calls, not who texts and calls her.

I'm confused: phone records will show incoming or outgoing... no matter how short the communication, if any!

Questions, I hope this allowed. Have they ever said if it was possible for her to have runway, end her life etc or was foul play the only option explored? I don't necessarily think it would change the investigation other than there wouldn't be a poI, but in my area this happens so often. I was late to this case. I hope this isn't out of line.

Has TE or LE commented on her phone activity before or during her date?
