I think it partly depends if crime was planned or spur of the moment...if planned, they may have thought about these things and not brought their phone, or taken a different phone, or removed battery. JMO if not planned, more likely to forget about phone and pings.

There's another point I had not considered till now. I have an older cell which does not have a camera or internet and I can go 4-5 days w/o charging. (In my job I may go places where a camera is not permitted, so that is why I carry this one.) My son who works with them tells me that with most smartphones if they last from the time you get up in the morning till when you go to bed at night without charging that is about the best you can expect with a few exceptions. HE was out for 7 hours on a date, came home and started using her phone and we don't know much about her day before the date. She simply could left the condo and shortly afterward the battery died. I have had co-workers who forgot to their chargers and have the battery die while at work. She was out for quite some time with her phone. What are the chances that the battery died BEFORE anything might have happened to her. That would make it difficult for LE to find the actual crime scene. Most folks wouldn't forget something like that, but if something stressful or emotional is going on, who knows.

Was playing with my phone. Just "checked in" at a hotel 2300 miles away. So your check ins aren't always reality.

yes, I've done this, too. but im sure le can determine where the phone really was at the time of the check in.

just curious about something. let's assume LE has an individual (or more) that they are interested in. what do they have to have to secure a search warrant... like, say they wanted cell phone .records, can they get them just bc someone says a victim talked to the poi?

Imamaze asked me to take a look at this case. Is there a timeline or cliff notes version of the 9 threads? Otherwise it might take me a while to catch up.

If someone has a Google earth view with notes, I can make some educated guesses for search areas.

Welcome to the thread, Trackergd. Your theories, perception, and input as a SAR mgr, as well as your prior law enforcement experience may provide some additional insight to guide us to HE's location.

With almost a half million views and virtually 10,000 posts on this thread, coupled with the silence by investigators, with the one exception of the redacted HCPD incident report. Well, it should not be too difficult for you to catch up.
With the limited available info, we have come a very long way covering the many possible scenarios in HE's disappearance, imo.

The many locals(3 verified) on this thread have been a tremendous help providing their invaluable geographical and cultural insight, etc., imo.

Good point. I would guess they might not be as concerned with where it last pinged but who her last correspondence was with. MOO

Who her last correspondence was with is very important. Where she might have gone after that correspondence would be very important to. moo

What is that? What is HE holding? Is that a person? I'm serious, I'm freaking out.

What are you referring to? I've had to wait all night to ask! :scared:

I need to know, too!:waitasec:

Please, what are you talking about?

I guess I missed something???

It was in reference to a picture posted of HE late last night. Salem asked for it to be removed because it wasn't authorized by the family or directly sourced to HE (I believe it was an old FB photo). It was completely innocuous, a group shot cropped so it showed only Heather, but apparently someone thought it was odd. I looked at it very carefully and there was nothing amiss other than you couldn't really see where Heather's left arm was and the person in front of her had their head cut off :dunno:

ETA-Head cut off of THE PICTURE, just to be clear, lol

I know locals took video of peach tree landing, tidewater rd, and also Heather's condo complex. Maybe these would help trackergd also. I just don't know where to find them.

I'm very interested in what the dogs have said...have they been asked to follow a scent trail from HE's condo, perhaps uncovering the last place she went? I know they were used at PTL, so what did they indicate there?
If/when LE names a POI, I'm waiting with bated breath to see what the dogs indicate once they search that person's property, vehicle, land. (I'm talking about both tracking dogs & recovery dogs.)
I really have a lot of faith in well trained dogs & their handlers. Have any been invited to work on HE's case?

I'm going off topic.
Since it's MLK day I thought I'd post this:
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

It somehow seems appropriate.
So let's all shine our light into the darkness and bring Heather home.

Found this article which was allowed here

It is still unclear just who may have seen Heather Elvis last. Her last confirmed whereabouts was in the Carolina Forest area (about ten miles from where he car, a dark green 2001 Dodge Intrepid, was found) on Tuesday. The last time her cell phone pinged was about 2 a.m. the following morning. To make matters more worrisome, she didn't show up for her scheduled shift at her

If I had just heard about this case the first thing I would do is go to her social media. I would want to get a feel for who this girl is and probably who her friends are. That's as far as I'll go with that thought.

Past phone records from HE would be a big help. Not just the records we've heard about on and around the 17th and 18th.

What patterns were there in terms of call times, length, and frequency. Incoming vs. outgoing. Text vs. voice. Known vs. unknown numbers.

All of this would be a huge help to determine HE's phone habits.

What about calls/text messages during the date? Nothing was ever mentioned about that so far. You can't tell me that there were none. I get calls and texts all times of the day and night no matter what I am doing. And, typically reply back right away.

Another unknown by all of us is what HE would typically do when she got off of work. Would she go directly home and go straight to bed or would she go home and go out again?

I know when I worked 2nd and 3rd shifts, I would go straight to a friend's house after work or hit a bar with some coworkers or go straight home and straight to bed. Speaking to her close friends and roomate(s) could answer this simple question and shed some light on things.

I'm also still having a hard time understanding the timeline on the 17th from the time the "Date" says he dropped HE off. There are discrepancies IMO.
  1. If Date dropped HE off between 2-2:30AM then, how did HE post on Tumblr at 1:53:05? Tumblr posts are not included of @CarolinaAsh's timeline even though it is fact. ?
  2. How long and when exactly did HE talk to BW? Originally, it was known as 1:44AM on 12/18. Then it is published as "around 2AM". Whatever, close enough. But, how long was the call? And from that call, what was HE's demeanor? Some say happy.
  3. Based on the current info (or lack thereof) from LE, it seems (IMO) that we (the public) are only hearing the times that they want us to hear. Info on ping times and locations are not specific!
So, while HE was talking to BW on the phone, what was the conversation about? And again, how long was the call? If HE spoke to BW from 1:44AM until 1:53AM, would 9 minutes be long enough to discuss the date in full detail? What do some of the past call lengths look like between HE and BW?

It's certainly possible that HE was posting on Tumblr while talking to BW. The first post is fun and friendly in nature but, the 9 subsequent posts are introspective and speak of relationships. And, since there are so many back to back posts with similar sentiments, I think she was blasting out the feelings she had at that exact moment in time. Typically, there would be some lull in time before posting something IMO. HE was making a statement, IMHO. Which is why I keep asking myself the question, "How could HE have a happy conversation then post 9 times in a row with feelings of love and despair all within a 25 minute time span? Then... disappear?"

I have a negative feeling that unless she is found, there will be no arrest(s); that this will be old style no body, no crime law enforcement.

Didn't include tumblr posts because those can be queued and without access to tumblr's back room info we can't know for sure if that is something she did live or if she had it already lined up. Does anyone with a tumblr know if you can alter the date/time BACKWARDS too?

I teared up when I read, this STL, one of my favorite quotes. Truly appropriate. Thank you for posting. :loveyou: Another quote I have on my email siggy line (but still forgive me if I mess it up) The time is always right to do what is right...Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
