GUILTY SC - HT, 4, Johns Island, 13 Feb 2018 *Arrest*

  • #441

Thank you for this link to the latest presser.

According to that the Suspect gave his real name and SS # to the police chief when he was found in the car with H. (Thank God for a dumb criminal!)

They tracked the car to the MS line where they took him into custody.

Police knew it was H minutes after getting her back to the police station.

She was wearing adult size hoodie and adult pajamas when found (and this was something the chief thought suspicious)

Suspect lead MS police on a long chase before being apprehended.

He was arrested in Lauderdale County, MS.

The FBI is handling the rest of the investigation (and expediting suspect back to SC) because of the crime crossing state lines.

Suspect had JUST been released from prison in SC on Feb 1st.

H is being checked out at a hospital and her father is flying in to reunite with her.

The vehicle was stolen out of GA sometime on Tuesday. He had ditched a vehicle in GA, stolen this one there and drove to AL in it.

Railroad workers were the one's who reported the strange parking location of the car and those workers took pictures of the chief talking to the suspect. They uploaded pics and used them to check the ID of the guy (already had him ID'd through the social but the pics helped confirm).

Suspect told the chief they came from SC and appeared nervous. Chief smelled alcohol and decided to pull him out of the car to be checked out.

Reporter recaps that they have arrested the suspect in MS. Great news out of AL!

They (LE) may have taken her clothes for evidence. Don't know but throwing it out there.

If its true that the Mom was brutally beat in the face, typically is a very personal assault.

Agreed that we will hear more about a connection.

According to various articles the family moved S.C. in the summer because the husband is with the Coast Guard. Before that they were in AK. Both families seem to originally be from CO. If Evans has been incarcerated in S.C. from 2010 until this month and local to the area, I can’t see how they have any type of connection.

Evans has various drug charges. Could he have been high and thought H’s mom was someone else? I am baffled. I would be surprised if there was a personal connection between the two.

Good, now lock him up forever and throw away the key!

Just where in the heck was this man going to take her? I see shades of Jessica Lunsford in my head......
Going? I'm still trying to piece together where they were for 17 hours. It only takes 7 hours to get to Riverside, AL. They were missing for almost 24 hours.

So where are the clothes she had on originally, I wonder?

(Live Presser Update) The Chief who responded to the suspicious vehicle in the woods stated that is how she was dressed when he found perp & HT in the car

Agree,I don't understand why some think there is a connection between them.

Because it doesn't make any sense....there are missing pieces. The rest of the story will come to light in time.

Well, we know he slept for a bit anyway. Who knows for how long.

I agree, I'm worried about those other 17 hours myself, especially where she had adult pajamas and an adult hoodie on. I don't want to let my mind wander any further now. Praying nothing God awful happened to her while she was with him. The police said she was coloring, eating snacks, drinking chocolate milk and watching cartoons and was real good. Perhaps he didn't do anything to her- we can only hope, right?

It's because they kept referring to him as an uninvited guest instead of a stranger as most normal people think of it.

He had it together well enough to:
Get out of Charleston
Ditch a car in Georgia
Steal another car in Georgia
Drive 7 hours to AL
And get away from a couple of cops in AL

No small feat. I don't think he was high.

No, that is what she was wearing. I just got done summarizing the video presser up above in post #514. The chief said what she was wearing was one of the clues that something was suspicious about the situation right away. Also the suspect smelled like alcohol and acted nervous.

What may I ask are your thoughts, Henry?

  • #458
He was recently released from prison.

Maybe she or another adult family member was a witness against him, or on the jury, etc., and he figured taking a child was payback. Something made them look for him.

True, but maybe he was at the time. The LE in Alabama stated he had a strong smell of alcohol on him so it isn’t so far fetched that he could have used other substances. He was found prior to his last arrest asleep in a car with a needle sticking out of his arm. My point is that there are a number of scenarios other than a prior relationship.

I just watched some of the presser on the Live 5 site with the AL police chief who rescued H,

He seems such a lovely man, and I am so grateful he found her!

I noticed he said that he had a feeling Evans would run, but getting H safe was the main priority. I think that was a very wise choice.

I hope H has a wonderful reunion with her daddy, and I hope her mommy will recover fast from her injuries.
