We are currently out of the area, so wanted to check in and make sure flyers got up along Hwy 17 S, and also at the Walmarts, Broadway at the Beach, all the ice cream places, the ABC stores, and all the tee shirt shops, and truck stops (in addition to all of the shops already discussed.) Also- Pawleys Island and all of their resort places?

If anyone who is currently local can confirm for me, I would most appreciate it. If there is an area lacking, please let me know and I will contact someone to make it happen. TIA ya'll.

Praying, praying praying...left MB early today and so sad that Johnny wasn' t found while I was there. Keep checking my phone waiting for the words "Found Safe"to appear. Praying it will happen before I make it back to my home. God bless MissJames for bringing this to our attention and really getting everything started as well as OLG, NonnaB, peekerfoo and all those who have put their hearts minds and prayerful intent toward getting Johnny home where he belongs.

Johnny's mom, Rubypop just called. They haven't found Johnny, but have had some leads. They have 1 SAR and have picked up 2 scents one leading to Denny's Restaurant, an one to the Flea Market. They searched extensively at the flea mkt last night and no sighting, also checked at Denny's with no luck. They are gonna switch dogs, as the one they are using now has only been trained to search for a week, but the new one they are getting has been trained to search 2 wks. I'm not sure what that means, just relaying what Ms Ruby said. 5 family members went to MB and a friend. Julie and the rest are coming home tomorrow but Mr. and Mrs. Brown are staying another week. She said that MB LE are very good, informed them of everything that they are doing. They are also doing a lot of TV interviews for the Carolinas, but can't seem to get help from the Atlanta stations Ch 2,5,11. If any of you have cnotacts with NBC, ABC, Fox for atlanta area, maybe you could call in some favors. I will email a news tip to them. Ruby also said that a bus driver there has seen Johnny and he had said he wanted to go to Atlanta. He he told Johnny his bus doesn't go to Atla. so didn't pick Johnny up. LE is aware of this lead.I asked if the bus was local transit or Trailways, Greyhound? she said it was local. She said they got to MB about 7pm last night and met with the search team immediately, who had been searching all day. She helped search till about 10pm and had to rest, but the others continued to search till about 2am. She said if we get leads or important info MB said we can fax info to them. she didn't have their fax no. but we can call on the info line we have for them. she is pleased with the assistance MB LE is giving them, and showing them all the leads they have been receiving.
I tried to remember all the questions we all had, hope I didn't leave out anything. I was just so darn glad to hear from her. She said she will stay in touch, and we can call her anytime. I think that's about all I got. I tried to write it all down, hope I didn't leave out anything. It's so good to get the update...

Excellent news!

Did someone say they have a list of sightings? Please let me know how to get a copy of that and I'll map them and post a link here. Sometimes maps can show patterns, etc, that aren't noticeable otherwise.

This morning I went to the Sewee Center (wolves, etc) and the Ranger was very kind . The flyer is on the front door and she was going to take more to some of their other facilities to post .
Sewee Outpost has one on their bulletin board by the coffee and food .Tractor Supply has one on the bulletin board by their bathroom .Most places will not allow it on the front window or door : (
In a parking lot I saw a truck for Cox Tree Service. There was a poster of Britanee Drexel laminated on the back of the truck so I taped a flyer onto the drivers window.

NONNI BRENDA,
That is such good news . Publicity it key .So many near misses .We just need that one person who knows Johnny is a missing person and take the extra step to help him .

I'm very encouraged they are now using SAR dogs .We had all those sightings at the flea market and the frontage Rd near Denny's .Now we have confirmation by the dog that it WAS Johnny .
If only he would go back there .
He is obviously trying to get home .
I suppose it's possible someone gave him a ride .

Johnny needs some billboards and some national attention in case he has left Myrtle Beach area.

I know! Any idea how many CUE folks are searching? I so wish I lived closer! It's so wonderful that y'all are helping so much with health problems and all.

MissJames, Do you have access to a list of sightings? I have some time to work on a map for the thread and a list is much easier than reading through the posts!

The first on Aug 4 was the BBQ HOUSE in Surfside Beach .Then the Surfside Beach Resort ,15 S. Ocean Blvd.and the bar and grill across the street .Hudson's Flea Market ,Denny's and a MacDonalds that sits in front of Old Towne Pottery .These are all in Surfside Beach ,SC .
When the family first started searching they were told of a sighting at Whispering Surf Motel in Myrtle Beach .He was seen with a man named Roger who has since been kicked out .OLG and I spoke with the manager .She said Roger was staying in a neighborhood nicknamed "the hill" .It's about 7 streets total and is right behind the police station .
If I can think of anything else I'll post it .
Oh ! The family saw a surveillance video of Johnny at a tourist shop but I don't know where.

That is great news Nonni Brenda! Thanks for letting us know what's going on!

I drove my usual route through Surfside this morning around 11:30, but didn't see anything going on. I am so happy to hear that my sighting of Johnny was a valid one according to the dog!!!! PEOPLE, ALWAYS TRUST YOUR FIRST INSTINCT- JEANS OR NO JEANS!!!

I have not heard anything from Julie, but it sounds like they've been quite busy. I also checked the local news sites, but haven't seen anything about Johnny yet. Maybe the 11:00 newscast or perhaps the 6pm one hasn't been posted yet.

Today,I put up flyers at condos in the Garden City area and a few in the Burgess community, which is a little more inland (about 2 miles from the beach), but someone from that community may have be-friended Johnny. I wanted to go farther south, but my family needed me to help my daughter move into to her new apartment. She has a birdsye view of Ocean Blvd in Surfside and has promised to keep looking.

This all so encouraging!! I was having a bad day yesterday. I was confused by many things and discouraged. I feel much better now.

You said between Jiffy Lube and Denny's ! I'm so glad you listened to your gut and called .
At that time we were only about 24 hours behind Johnny .I just hope he's sticking to some kind of routine so those who now know he's missing will get the opportunity to see him again .
C'mon Johnny !

MissJames, Do you have access to a list of sightings? I have some time to work on a map for the thread and a list is much easier than reading through the posts!

I got a map of Surfside for Julie and made a mark on every spot where there was a sighting. Basically he was in town limts from the beginning of Surfside to near the end at the Flea Market. The other way he went was a direct line to the beach from the middle of those two points. Up and down the frontage road and near the Pier. It's about a half mile from the frontage road to the pier, with many cross streets and homes between 17business and Ocean Blvd in Surfside. The fronatge road runs parallel with 17 business (and is a traffic nightmare!!). Dennys is across the street from the Bar-BQ house. I saw Johnny just south of Dennys, right before the Jiffy Lube. There is also a defunct Taco Bell right before The JL, and behind there is where I was told a homeless man (not Johnny) has lived for years. It was all around there that I put up flyers in the woods.

Miss James did a good job of giving you the addresses, I just wanted to give you an idea of the lay-out.

Thanks Miss James. I wonder why Roger was in Surfside to begin with? He sure took a nose dive in residency by moving to the Hill. :what:

I wonder if Roger or perhaps a homeless person showed Johnny places where he could use the facilities. There are restrooms at the beach access about a block north of the pier (also an outdoor shower), at the playground (near the library on Surfside drive-- there is also a grill in the little park next to the library) and the library itself. I wonder if I should spend some time in those places? I would think that he'd want to wash up once in awhile. Obviously there are plenty of restaurants and stores where he could do that.

I saw a couple of guys hanging around the small pavillion where the grill is the other day and it made me wonder if homeless people ever use that grill for cooking and the bathrooms nearby for washing etc.

edited to add: I don't mean I'd actually hang out IN the men's room or anything...just observe from afar.

Hi Writer 7, Sorry I didn't answer your post sooner. I don't know if anyone there has a compiled list of all the sightings or not. There were 2 new ones given to me by Ruby, Denny's and Flea Market. I'm sure LE has them. Probably would be good if someone could start one from all your posts, then we can add to that next time someone calls us. I will write that down to ask. If anyone else has questions you feel we need to know about, let me know.
Here's hoping the next call from them is to tell us they have Johnny with them and are on their way home...:waiting:

I had not read all the posts above when I answered you Writer. Thanks to MissJames and Peekerfoo for more detail on the sightings and locations.

Nonni Brenda I was wondering if maybe we should designate one person from our group to give info to the family? Maybe you if you'd like the job? If everyone else agrees then it might make it easier for the family to get one call with our info/questions rather than several. You are local to them, so perhaps you would be the best choice.

If you should decide to take on this mission,I would like you to ask Julie if she wants or needs the packet of information and coupons I have gathered for her for family. If she does, please tell her to call me.

We're at the point where we don't really know what we should be doing or how much. I'm having trouble getting past the "undermining" thing, but my goal and everyone else's here is to get Johnny HOME. I don't know exactly what the police liason does, but she must have resources to help the family in ways we can't. I don't want to interfere with that, I just want to help in any way that I can. Since you are from their hometown you wouldn't be "undermining", but rather just a good and caring "neighbor".

(I know I'm new here, and I don't want to overstep my bounds by suggesting this idea, so please forgive me if you feel that I have. I come in peace.)
