Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said his office was called to a home on Milliken Street in Pacolet Saturday night, about possible remains being found, WYFF reported.
Clevenger said the remains were discovered while the home was undergoing renovations.
The remains will be submitted to a forensic anthropologist for more information, Clevenger said.
“Based on our limited information, it is believed the remains have been concealed for a long period of time,” Clevenger said in a release. He told reporters the investigation is in its early stages, adding it is possible the remains may have been there for decades.
He said anthropology exams take much longer than pathology exams, so it could take several months to get the report back.
