Moselle Property Where Maggie and Paul Murdaugh Were Murdered Listed For $3.9 Million

https://www.fitsnews.com/2022/02/14...were-murdered-might-be-sold-soon-sources-say/

It is not known what Moselle’s appraised value is, but according to an online listing — that wasn’t available at the time this story originally published Monday morning — the property is listed at $3.9 million by Crosby Land Company in Walterboro.

The property also appears to have been rebranded as ”Cross Swamp Farm.” See the listing here.

Cross Swamp Farm | Colleton County | Walterboro, SC

Wow, that place is absolutely stunning!

If only the walls of the house at Moselle could talk.

Timeline: See Alex Murdaugh’s Ties To Alleged Drug Smuggler Who Owned Moselle

https://www.fitsnews.com/2022/02/09...s-to-alleged-drug-smuggler-who-owned-moselle/

Below is a timeline of events — by our researcher Jenn Wood that shows the Boulwares’ relationship with the Murdaughs.

January 1949: Thomas M. Boulware and Randolph “Buster” Murdaugh II worked on the same civil case on behalf of the plaintiffs in Ridgeland Box Mfg. vs Sinclair. Buster Murdaugh was the solicitor at the time.

December 1951: In Beaufort County vs Jasper County, Buster Murdaugh and Thomas M. Boulware worked together for the respondents in the SC Supreme Court case.

August 1977: Barrett Boulware marries Jeannine Morris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin S. Morris of Allendale

January 1980: Island City Boat Sinking (see article below)

According to The State newspaper:

11 Miami area men were rescued 50 to 60 miles off the coast near St. Helena Sound.
The men claimed to have been rescued by The Waterworld and Miss Kathy boats. The Waterworld was taking on water. The men claimed to have been traveling from Miami to New York.
The Miss Kathy was owned by Joel E. Morris of Beaufort and operated by Edward E. Legree (who was later arrested in another drug bust).
The Waterworld was owned by Barrett Boulware of Allendale and operated by Johnny Morris.
Apparently no one was arrested.

March 23, 2000: Boulware purchases 4157 Moselle Road property from Don Houck for $257.000.

....

The above property is the home out by the road where the entrance to the kennels are located. Other tracts are listed as add ons.

Always love reading about the Boulwares. These families fascinate the heck out of me. ;)

I’m feeling fairly poignant about Moselle being on the market. Somehow it seems so indifferent to almost hallowed ground where two people lost their lives — at their homeplace — so brutally and cruelly, and perhaps caused by someone they knew.

I’m think about what we have imagined — Maggie loving the dogs and perhaps down at the kennels exchanging affection with beloved animals and in a split second the mood turning to absolute terror and pain. The same with Paul — alleged feelings of love and courage in perhaps trying to defend his mother, then unbelievable vulnerability and fright.

No, it doesn’t feel like enough time has passed for this horror story to fade from memories and grief to heal. JMHO.

Wow.

That is not, at all, what I imagined the staircase (that lead to a death) to look like!

Doesn’t seem like it, but I will admit the as a 4-5 yr old I was going in the home of a friend and when I opened the screen door to go in the wind caught the door, whacked me in the head and sent me backwards down the 5 steps to the sidewalk. Fractured skull. My Mother said the bump I had was as big as a soft ball.

I’ve used that as an excuse for some silly stuff I say.

Lol

I so agree, it seems like the murder has taken a backseat to the misdeeds of AM. It's a shame, but I have to believe that LE has their case against him and are just dotting the i's and crossing their t's.

They aren't in a rush considering he isn't going to be out as a free man for a long, long time.

I wonder what is up with Cousin E? Do you think he's turned States witness possibly?

"staircase: a set of stairs and its surrounding walls or structure."

The surprise may be due to the improper term "staircase" being used. A staircase typically has walls on either side or a wall with rails or side rails on both sides of the stairs. A staircase is typically found on the interior of a home.

What this precious lady fell down were brick steps. It's a shame the dirty deeds AM put her family through. He's a dirty rotten scoundrel who should never possess another Ben Franklin in his future.

It is a nice piece of property but why the rush to put it up for sale if all the proceeds would be frozen for the law suit? I wonder who wants the property so bad? An insider or someone else?

Lawyer Mike Tinsley said an offer was made on the property before it was listed for sale. The 1,772-acre property is currently listed by the Crosby Land Company for $3.9 million.

You know, I think that’s it. If they had announced and arrested a suspect, or better yet, had him convicted and sentenced, it might feel less disrespectful to be selling. It’s all about the money, which seems to be what drives that family. :( MOO

Yes, Cuz’n Eddie has dropped out of sight. I wonder, too.

I wish something worth discussing would arise. I miss all the cross talk among our members! So many interesting comments!

I just wonder is there is some devious motive or underhanders wanting to purchase this Moselle property and use the proceeds to help Alex in whatever way they can. MOO

I wonder if Todd Crosby of Crosby Land Company is related to Ronnie Crosby of PMPED?

IIRC, this is about settling Maggie's estate, and there are large debts on the land. Debts must be cleared before an estate can be settled/finalized, other people can't inherit anything until your debts are paid off.

Today’s episode of the “Impact of Influence” podcast was very interesting IMO.
It features John Snyder, legal analyst and Riley Benson, who was the first reporter on the scene of the murders.

‎The Murdaugh Family Murders: Impact of Influence: 43: Episode 43: More Lawsuits, And Moselle For Sale on Apple Podcasts

Of note:

*Many of the motions on the court docket were not heard Monday. Bland worked out some deals over the weekend for the Satterfields, and the gag order against Bland was withdrawn, as well as Bland’s lis pendens on Moselle removed. Tinsley’s still remains in place.

*Victims’ attorneys agreed in January to list Moselle. Money will go to the receivers who will pay the mortgage first, then dole money out to victims.

*The lawsuits against Maggie’s estate were discussed. Snyder believes these will face an uphill battle and outlines why.

*Riley Benson commented on the scene, which was quiet with the exception of the dogs barking in the kennels. JMM was walking and talking with LE.

This article has good coverage of the Moselle property sale and the complexities that surround it.

Sale of Murdaugh family home complicated by lawsuits, criminal charges
I would say yes and no.

Much of the information has been supplied by the lawyer for the multiple Mallory Beach lawsuits, and he certainly has his own hopes for what will happen with any Murdaugh assets. However, as far as I can tell, his claims - for eg, against Maggie Murdaugh for being responsible for the death of Mallory Beach - have not yet been proven in court.

IMO that's why everything is so complicated, the Mallory Beach wrongful death lawsuits are hanging over everything, and yet it's unknown when they will actually proceed in court and what the judgements will be.

I think this is ironic, considering that Alex Murdough was a lawyer for personal injury claims. Just my opinion, but I think it likely this potentially ruinous lawsuit has been hanging over AM's head since March 2019 and must have had consequences we don't yet understand.

Wonder if they have any of the islands for sale — the ones AM owned with BB? They probably aren’t worth much unless you are in same alleged business as … you know who.

I will be interested to see who ends up buying Moselle — how close they are related to the M family — because I’ve wondered if there is cash hidden, buried, or sunken in the swamps or pond at Moselle. I know it sounds crazy, but all the unlawful gains have to be somewhere. o_O MOO.
