“Legal hunting time for deer is the time between one hour before official sunrise until one hour after official sunset (50-11-710).”

Deer Rules & Regulations | eRegulations

  • “On registered properties, feral hogs, coyotes, or armadillos may be hunted at night with artificial lights and nightvision devices using any legal firearm, bow, or crossbow.”
SCDNR - Night Hunting

Maybe I missed this, but sunset on June 7, 2021 in Colleton County was at 8:29PM EDT.

SLED spokesperson Tommy Crosby declined to discuss the case further on Monday, except to say SLED is “in contact” with the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office and that it’s “not unheard of that (the agency) would be communicating” with the solicitor.

Prosecutor dies just days after 2 relatives are found dead

A longtime prosecutor in South Carolina has died just days after his grandson and daughter-in-law were found dead on the family’s land in Colleton County in a shooting investigators have said little about.

The firm didn’t give a cause of death, but Democratic state Sen. Margie Bright Matthews of Colleton County said Murdaugh, 81, was in intensive care when she asked for prayers for the family Tuesday on the Senate floor.

The boating accident would have fallen under a different policy. It was at a different home they owned
Are you talking about a policy for the Edisto Beach house? I'm confused, the article clearly stated a claim was filed on a policy for "hunting operations and associated accidents", which had a marine exclusion?

I just wanted to remind folks of this resource posted by Knox. I see there was a new arrest today. I wonder if there is any connection.

You can sort by newest arrest by clicking arrest date twice.

Very interesting! I wonder how many people get arrested there each day/week. Doesn’t seem like many from browsing the site. IMO

ETA: 2 arrests today of white 20 something males. Interesting

Nothing new on details, but Murdaugh’s Attorney offers a perspective as it relates to keeping the boat crash file from being released:

Excerpt:
After Murdaugh’s death, the Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette newspapers asked the Attorney General’s Office — the agency prosecuting the case — for the boat crash file, citing the Freedom of Information Act.

“We had every intention of moving forward with Paul Murdaugh’s prosecution,” spokesperson RK wrote in an email Monday. “While the charges against him will be dismissed, the case has not been closed because the investigation is not finished.”

K would not answer questions about why the case is still under investigation more than two years after the boat crash and after Murdaugh’s death.

JG, a Columbia-based attorney, represented Murdaugh in preliminary hearings on his boating under the influence charges.

He said he could not think of a reason — except for one — that the attorney general’s office would keep the case open.

“I can understand that they would not want to open the investigative file to disclosure because there may be information related to the murder investigation,” G said on Monday afternoon.

Information about the current murder investigation into Paul and Maggie Murdaugh’s deaths has been limited and secretive from every agency involved.

Investigators have not said whether the murder is connected to the boat crash investigation in any way.

That person also has a very recent drug possession charge and a pretty lengthy arrest history for a 20 yo. Likely not related, IMO.

Okay…weird thought but totally supposition, guesswork. What if someone lied for Paul regarding the crash…or hid some evidence? And Paul was going to give him up for a lighter sentence?

What if someone found out that Paul was going to accuse him of being the driver instead as his defense?

With the trial looming, that could certainly push someone over the edge.

Very.

I was thinking today that when the family is so quiet, and the cops say the public’s not in danger, an arrest should be imminent. Fingers crossed they have their men.

The timing of the trial for something that happened over 2 years ago (I know covid likely caused delays) but it was going to start so soon, very weird timing to me! IMO

I haven't seen anything that indicates a trial was going to happen soon, or that a trial date was even set.

IIRC from the depositions... several thought Paul hit the throttle (speeding up the boat) but did any of the witnesses state that definitively. If not, this could certainly leave the door ever so slightly open for blaming someone else.

JMO, but I don't think this has anything to do with the boating accident. I would venture to guess they have many enemies. I'm getting a disgruntled past or present employee vibe. IMO JOM

Has it been made clear if this property on Moselle Rd. was their primary residence, or was this a 2nd home/another property they owned?

ETA: I see @MajorHoople ‘s post now just above mine.

Her FB says she lived in Edisto Beach. Looks like Christmases and other fun times were spent at Moselle.
