I'm still waiting for the phrases "butchered" and "he's innocent" to be said 20 more times.

News a9 WLTX is not showing AM on video while defense attorney is speaking. Law & Crime is. IMO, AM is having a hard time as attorney speaking about the murders.

Poots testifying as to what a witness will say. That it was a tarp the witness saw...not a raincoat.
Objection sustained.
Yup! Objection to Dick was sustained.

That ending was ridiculous. Defense rests. Jury break. Judge is going to discuss scheduling issues.

Defense opening statement is disjointed. I feel all scrambled. Not regarding MOO, though. For those on the jury, maybe that’s the point. The horrible description of wounds (particularly in regard to PM) was profoundly disrespectful, I feel.

video problems, so first witness (first responder bodycam) is being put off until tomorrow. Court adjourned.

MOO - The theory about there being 2 shooters because 2 separate guns were used - I believe it was possible for there to be one shooter who used two guns because it was faster to use two guns that were already loaded instead of taking the time to reload one gun. JMO.
Yes, however I believe AM used two different guns to trick police into believing there must have been two shooters, so it couldn't have been AM alone.

It worked on here, I recall: many posters speculated about who was the other shooter.

Looks like the jury will be excused until 9:30 AM EST on 1/26.

That's an excellent point!

DH: Fact that if AM was down at the dog kennels that night didn't really matter.
That's like a little kid saying no no I didn't eat the cookies. I know I just walked out of the kitchen, I know I got chocolate all over my face, and cookie crumbs down my shirt.
Just because I was in the kitchen that really doesn't matter. Ugh!!!

Bet we speculated in it. Over and over. Glad you brought it back up.

Let the theatrics begin…..
You know, DH isn't looking as sharp as he used to be, he's aged a lot. I bet this trial is taking a real toll on him, but hey, like he said himself "It's an Honor of mine to represent Alex". Good luck with that.

I was not impressed with the defense opening statement. It came down to

1) This honorable man is INNOCENT so you must find him not guilty...it's the law!
2) Paul and Maggie were BUTCHERED, BRUTALIZED, BUTCHERED!! Oh, did I tell you that they were BUTCHERED and Paul's brains were all over the place? A loving father couldn't do that.
3) OK, so he was at the kennels around the time they were killed. So what? He was being friendly. And he had to hustle back up to the house (before the murderers arrived, I presume)
4) phone records aren't necessarily reliable
5) it was a tarp, not a raincoat. (ignore the GSR, I presume?)
5) They were BUTCHERED, I tell ya!
6) He is INNOCENT so you must find him not guilty. It's the law!

Recess until 9:30 am ET tomorrow.

Omgeee Harpo has said Paul's brain laying on the ground at least 3 times. Why, why?
Yup. And Harpo also loves to interject the word "butcher" -- as if there was ever a knife introduced?!!

Liar, liar pants on fire -- way to bring on the drama, Dick!:rolleyes:

Murdaugh Murders trial: In his opening statement, defense attorney Dick Harpootlian is giving super gruesome details of the murders of Maggie and Paul. I think the strategy here is the more horrific the crime, the less likely the jury would believe Alex killed his wife and son.

However, the true crime fans were specifically excluded from the jury, so this idea of a father doing such a thing might be incomprehensible to some, still innocent, minds.
