Dick Harpootlian gives the defense opening. He says it's his honor to represent #AlexMurdaugh. He says Murdaugh or Murdock, however you choose to pronounce it.
Harpootlian asks #AlexMurdaugh to stand up and tells the jury he was the loving father of Paul and the loving husband of Maggie. Defense opening.
Harpootlian tells the jury they will see a Snapchat video Paul Murdaugh took earlier that evening. #AlexMurdaugh and Paul were driving around looking at trees they had planted and they were laughing.
Defense: Paul and Maggie were slaughtered. He says the first shot was as if Paul had his hands up. The second shot entered his skull cavity and then describes Paul's head as exploding "like a watermelon hit with a sledge hammer."
Defense: In order to believe #AlexMurdaugh murdered his family you'd have to believe he did that when not just an hour earlier he was a having a bonding moment with his that you'll see on Snapchat.
As Harpootlian describes Maggie being shot and killed, #AlexMurdaugh appears to wipe away tears.
