Judge Newman, because of legal issues that are beyond my expertise, declines to grant the prosecution's motion to admit Murdaugh's financial crimes as evidence. Doesn't mean prosecutors won't be able to present it. It just couldn't be approved via that specific type of motion.

SLED ballistics analyst Paul Greer is now testifying regarding the firearms ID analysis.
They're going to wait until it comes up at trial. If prosecution calls their expert to testify they'll have a hearing then.Where are we at with the blood spatter evidence? Did Judge Newman rule on this?
ETA- Or are these the motions he's hearing now?
SLED agent Paul Greer - firearms & tool examiner - is now testifying at this motion hearing. State wants testimony that casings found at the scene are CONSISTENT with a firearm #AlexMurdaugh/family owned/owns. One problem is that firearm is unaccounted for. #murdaughtrial
They seem to be increasing as these motion hearings continue.Just noticing as he's in court, Alex has some tics, fidgets.
I'm rather shocked that the defendant is allowed to address potential jury members at all.
Buster as well as some of Maggie's family and also AM's brother are on the witness list so I don't know if they will be allowed in the courtroom prior to their testimony (if they testify). Will Buster and/or any of Maggie's family be there for the trial? What about others (AM's brothers, extended family)? Has anyone said or speculated on this? Have they been seen so far? Are they likely to be there tomorrow if the trial does get underway at some point tomorrow?
My heart goes out to them.
MOO.
In other words, the hearings today are to qualify the witnesses as "expert" witnesses to be called at trial, correct? They're going to wait until it comes up at trial. If prosecution calls their expert to testify they'll have a hearing then.
