I may be alone in this but I'm not convinced Alec planned on murder that day. He certainly didn't plan it well.

Perhaps it was a Hail Mary move, hoping to accomplish what he does best -- talk his wife out of her money. Beg for money, beg for time, beg for a pause on divorce, backed with all kinds of promises.

I'm struggling to see how this could've been pre-planned, prior to 7:50pm. Botched in just about every way possible. His own weapons. His phone with him. Gunshot residue on his seatbelt and on the raincoat. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. I see no evidence of prior alibi, just a feeble attempt to build one after.

Speculating he tried to lovebomb Maggie, didn't expect Paul to buttress her, followed Paul to the kennel to "reason" with him, Maggie followed in her car, to hold tempers back.... and the desperate, panicked crashinghouseofcard swindler started shooting.

Plenty of premeditation in those minutes.

2 counts, Murder 1. LWOP.

Alex Murdaugh CRIES during opening statements at his double murder trial as prosecutor says a 'family weapon' was used to kill his wife and gunshot residue was found on his seatbelt

  • Murdaugh, 54, is accused of shooting his wife, Maggie, 52, and younger son Paul, 22, at their hunting lodge in South Carolina's Lowcountry on June 7, 2021
  • Prosecutor Creighton Waters opened the case describing how Murdaugh first killed son with buckshot, before turning an AR-15-style rifle on his wife
  • He cited evidence from gunshot residue found a raincoat that was discovered at Murdaugh's mother's home. He also said residue was discovered on his seat belt
  • Murdaugh appeared distraught as his lawyer Dick Harpootlian described how Murdaugh arrived home to 'find his son ... with his brains lying at his feet'
This sentence of the article cannot be correct as Buster is a witness for the defense to my understanding.

"Murdaugh's surviving son, Richard, known as Buster, who is expected to testify against his father, is sitting behind him in the courtroom."

I can't imagine what went through defense, when LE finally were able to unlock Paul's phone and found that video.

Here's an excellent link as for reminders on all the lies AM told in the beginning.

(Also I forgot about the texts on MM's phone about not wanting to meet AM at Moselle. )

Buster and other family members are on the State's Witness List
<snipped>

Among those on the list are Alex's family members including his surviving son, Buster, his brothers, RM and JM, his sister-in-law, LM, and members of Maggie's family, including her sister, The State, WCBD and The Greenville News report.

Look at these numbers.

Numbers don't lie. (Unlike AM who said he was NEVER there).

8:49 and 31 seconds Maggie's phone locks.

AM has maintained that he was visiting his ill father at the time of the murders. Lol!

Evidence then shows Murdaugh “firing up” his car and leaving at 9:06 p.m.

(AM did not call 911 to report the deaths until 10:06 p.m. Alibi building).

Since he was there on the video.
And he was there at 9:06 pm
If someone else did the shooting, was AM deaf??
Did he have plugs in his ears??

Because he doesn't say anything about hearing weapons being fired. Ugh!

Not that I believe it but he could have been there at that time and left

Edited- "Prosecutors specify that Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and Paul Murdaugh, 22, were murdered between 8:30 p.m. and 10:06 p.m"

Interesting Dick pretends every murder must have a witness to be true.

I'm not sure what shocked me most this morning, (Australian), Buster being in the court, or Alex's tears during the opening statements.
I feel really sad for Buster.

I doubt if his mother would testify or if it would even be able to be admitted because she is diagnosed with Dementia. IDK maybe one of our legal eagles can answer that.

She wouldn't need to.

I only saw fake crying from Alex not a real tear. JMO

Just have to say…I always feel terrible for a child attending their parent’s murder trial of their other parent.

And sibling

Prosecutors Detail How Son's Cell Phone Video Allegedly Places Alex Murdaugh at Murder Scene

Alex Murdaugh is charged with the killings of his wife and son

Opening statements have begun in the trial of Alex Murdaugh, the once-prominent South Carolina attorney accused of fatally shooting his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul.

In court on Wednesday afternoon, Prosecutor Creighton Waters told jurors that cellphone evidence will play a vital role in the trial — and will prove that Murdaugh, 54, was present at the scene of the murders.

Specifically, Waters claimed that Paul Murdaugh had sent a cellphone video to a friend at 8:44:55 on the evening of June 7, 2021. That video, taken near the dog kennels on the family's 1,100-acre hunting ranch, picked up the voices of Paul, Maggie and Alex Murdaugh. Three minutes later, Paul Murdaugh's cell phone was locked and wasn't used again that night.

According to Waters, the video is significant because Alex Murdaugh had previously denied being near the dog kennels — which appears to be directly contradicted by the video.

I loved this:

He was the storm,” Waters said of Murdaugh, raising his voice. “The storm was coming for them.”

He urged the jury to remember that they didn’t need to step outside to know if a storm had passed. Getting rained on would be like having direct evidence. But Waters said someone could also stay inside, hear the clap of thunder and the sound of water pounding the roof, and draw the same conclusion. That would be akin to using circumstantial evidence.

I’m expecting convenient explanations (excuses) for this and the gsr but much like I don’t think the jury will by some sketchy case from the state, I think they will see thru any lame attempts to fool them.

I tried this reply several times as I’m having a time with the site today.

I love how many women are on the jury. They won’t ignore that nonsense.

Do we know the make up of the jury? I was just going to see if I could find that out.

Judge: "Are you a true crime junkie?"
Potential juror: "Yes."
Judge: "Excused."
LOL, it surely would not go over very well in the courtroom if one of us objected......
