And it appears I was wrong; they should have waited even longer. I’m not impressed by what SLED did here, especially with the biological testing. The defense was smart to not request a delay, and appears to have caught the prosecution on their heels. I just hope the worst case scenario is a hung jury.

Ugh, I know. I’m not feeling good about a conviction at this point. The state has not done well with taking advantage of points made by the defence and witnesses. They haven’t personalized their position enough with the exception of AM being a liar.

For one, almost all of DH questions are leading. I haven’t heard the prosecution object on any of them.

Leaving guns out in the open over night, on side x sides, golf carts, in unlocked vehicles ( keys left in them). This does not seem the behavior of a person or persons who feel their lives are being targeted by shady individuals over the past year . This behavior seems indicative of people who feel safe and secure in their surroundings, and untouchable from even the most mundane crime that occurs in small towns.

They hired people to feed the dogs, to feed them, to work in the garden, to fix the cars, but not a word about hiring a bodyguard for Paul who was a small guy and supposedly received threats to his life. I agree, think defense did this on purpose…they want Cousin Eddie up there...to try to blame the murders on him, along with other things imo.

I don’t think the prosecution will call him though…just too much of a gamble.

Newman said he reversed his ruling and will allow all of it pursuant to the doctrine of fairness after the defense questioned the witness about skimming by Smith, gangs, drug sales, etc.

Thank you! I am trying to find it now. So far all I see is a statement about confronting Alex, but he received a phone call.. then conversation turned to more of a friend to friend one. She assumed he would be leaving for the day, but later in the afternoon he called her on the office line saying he was going over things for the upcoming hearing on the boat case that was later that week.. he wanted info on his 401K balances. She was surprised because she thought he went home.

No time given for the conversation, but doesn't sound super early in the day and it doesn't sound like it was just before he left. I'll dig more tonight to see if an exact time he talked to Maggie or Paul is given. I'm just curious if he called them to come out before or after the call about his dad and the conversation about the money.

The defense fought like pit bulls to keep the roadside shooting info out. It conflicts with their narrative that AM is a saintly family man because 1) there is plenty of evidence that it was all AM’s idea and 2) it connects AM to CE, a man that can testify to AM being involved with some super shady people.
If they did this on purpose, as some have suggested, the defense has given up, wants the trial over with, so they can get on with the appeals.

As the defense lawyer self-proclaimed, “we all make mistakes.”

Has there been any investigations by anyone, civilian or MSM, into which criminal cases AM either prosecuted or was on the prosecution team that had any situations similar to June 7th? Is it possible he took bits and pieces from cases he worked and created his own crime? Any cases where the murder scene was outdoor, or on a rainy night or 2 different weapons used; clothing never found; usage of circumstantial evidence that wasn't believed by the jury, etc.

I believe AM when he told MP that he thought the person who did this had planned it for a long time. I'm just thinking of places where he could have obtained some ideas of what works and what doesn't when it comes to murder.

There was no gun at the scene and forensic pathologist reported that suicide was not possible from that angle. They're being silly and grasping at straws.

It seems that hinting in this direction can only hurt the defense.

When they were originally arguing about admissibility I think (but I'm not sure) Waters said he would have Owen testify about it because he was the one who took AM's statement about the purported failed suicide/killing. I'm not sure they can call Owen back, unless it's on rebuttal. Presumably someone else was was present for AM's statement and can testify.

As is the norm, the defense has sought to discredit prosecution experts and investigators. They wish to portray them as stupid, lazy, biased, incompetent, or whatever. It worked for OJ. The prosecution has the task of keeping the jurors eyes on the ball. Narrow the focus on the essentials. It’s all there. Don’t let the defense take the jury on a bird walk.
