Am I the only person waiting for AM to have a head injury delaying trial soon?

I hadn't thought of that...lots of Cousin Eddie types living in his house now...it could be arranged, IMO

Sounds like he "finalized" the powerpoint yesterday. Interesting and he said that was common in trials to finalized it the day before testifying. I wish the lawyer would have asked him why that is common.. perhaps you need to change things based on what the previous witnesses have said? I don't like it at all.

Also what I don't like is that this man worked on the boat case.
Ohhhh, I didn't know that. Missed that part. Those of us working from home and trying to keep up have a terrible challenge!

So, this "expert" must have also been willing to offer his expert opinion that Paul wasn't driving the boat. Now that Alex wasn't shooting the gun. I guess he's the "Murdaugh didn't do ___" expert.

Do you know any professional engineers? They know everything.

I do! And at university, it was so amusing to hear an engineer try to give instructions on how to get some place near campus. Human variables didn't enter in.

Or, weigh in on how to do hand surgery (I'll never forget it, the other person was a surgery resident - but the engineer had better ideas, it was quite memorable as they were both quite certain they knew best - the surgeon, however, was disinterested in discussing civil engineering with the engineer).

Some of the best social scientists are people who quit engineering and went into another field, though. The pressure some math-competent people feel about becoming an engineer (from their families especially) is amazing. "There are no jobs" in social science, they are told. Be an engineer! Every time there are big lay-offs in the engineering sector, I always think about how quickly an engineer's expertise goes out of favor - or is taken up in very specific problems for a corporation, which cannot be applied elsewhere. It's a brutal job market, imo.

We're having a very hard time finding doctoral level engineers to instruct in any of our college's engineering programs. So, most of the instructors are fairly young and have a Master's. This is not considered optimal, but we do turn out quite a few engineers. Some of them become instructors in the program fairly soon after they get their Master's. There's very high turnover, though - they are mostly seeking jobs with the government, as engineers.

If I had been a consultant for the prosecution, I'd have asked more about this guy's schooling - but the cross-examiner is doing a pretty good job.

ALL IMO.

(This guy's idea that a very short person, still on a knee, did this is really odd). I guess we have to recalibrate for someone who was actually lying down when they fired. Interesting.

Fernandez: How far off from the ground is that weapon in the hands of that 12 year old.
DH: Objection! There's been no mention of a 12 year old.
Judge: overruled.

I am dying here. This is beyond parody.

It’s the return of the ninjas
The "expert" witness' insistence that the shooters were only 5ft 2" tall clearly demonstrates to the jury the absurdity of nearly everything else he has claimed.

I think this witness is no doubt good at his job, examining accidents and creating crime scene exhibits. But this is a murder trial, just really seems out of his scope. What was the defense thinking. Makes me think the defense really doesn't have much.

To me, it's beyond My Cousin Vinny in terms of courtroom behavior. Now I'm not a criminal lawyer and I've only practiced in NY & MA but the idea of a defense attorney joking WITH a GUN in hand about shooting the prosecutors in a double homicide case is so beyond the pale I'm honestly shocked. Even more so because the prosecutors laughed too! It's just completely bizarro world to me.
ESPECIALLY with the case involving Alex Baldwin in the news. Completely lacking in caution where much is warranted.

The 12 year old, the youth, the little guy...haha. I love Fernandez.

Fernandez: and the shooter...the little youth there...is how far away from that?
Sutton: 8'
F: and how high is the muzzle off the ground, in the little guy's hands.

The look on AM’s face with 47.4 inches was priceless.

This is the bizarre moment Alex Murdaugh's defense attorney pointed a rifle at the prosecution bench and said 'tempting' as the courtroom erupted with laughter.

He grinned as he pointed the gun at the prosecution table and said, 'tempting', prompting a chorus of laughter. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson laughed but others at the prosecution table like Creighton Waters were not amused.

Emphasis mine.

I get it.
Gallows humor.
I've used it myself on occasion, where the subject matter in some cases have been particularly overwhelming and difficult to bear.
Sometimes poking a bit of fun at a perp whose self-aggrandizing was noxious and ridiculous.

But this 'joke' ..... was not funny.
And Harpootlian should be ashamed of himself.
M00.
I agree. And quite frankly I'm rather shocked that the judge allowed this behavior.
