Am I the only person waiting for AM to have a head injury delaying trial soon?

moo
I thought for a second that there was going to be a magic bullet in the gun when DH picked it up and someone was going to get hurt.

I respected the defense witnesses education and experience as well as his mostly avoiding being put into a corner during questioning but I don’t think the offering was strong enough.
The Witness stayed calm, cool and professional, while the Prosecutor was snarky and offensive frankly. I'm sure the Jury noted this as well. Such a shame, all the antics from both sides, which takes away from Facts, and I just hope the Jury will be able to sift through the junk to get to the evidence and decide Guilt. Please. MOO

Perfect question to end with.

Being a small town, rural area, a good guess that there’s people on the jury having the same thoughts as me -that they can hear gunshots that are not close while in their house. This guy was also wrong when he said it did not matter what type of ammo you used that it would not affect the sound -that’s completely wrong. Any hunters/gun enthusiasts on the jury, they’ll know that that info is wrong too.
I take several trips a year down to MO. and Dad's spread and one of my childhood haunt's and to this day still hear shots from Ranches miles away. Comes in like a wave that rides the wind and using that you can actually get an idea of how far away depending on wind working in its favor or not. Thinking of it as how you can get a reading on how far a thunder and lightning storm is from you. Count seconds between the light show and boom and anything 30 seconds or less is about 6mi. away. find some cover.

I think the point was well made that his expertise was not firearms nor ballistics involving shots fired through victim's bodies. The man should not have been testifying about this case, other cases involving cars, trucks, boats or ships, yes but not this case. AJMO
agreed. Im not sure what the relevance was concerning hearing or not hearing a shot within distance of inside of the house...no one was there. and the property sits on over 1700 acres. IMO also ridiculous time spent on the velocity of an item (phone) being tossed, thrown, backward or forward or straight down while in a moving vehicle... this was their 'expert'? 'green line, sound guy' who ignores variables? ugh.

And the icing on the cake is that the judge overruled the objection. :p

Who remembers when the Court made an Objection this afternoon when the Prosecution had made no objection to Dick for leading the witness?

Judge Newman: Sustained.
Defense: There was no objection.
Judge Newman: The Court objects!

Someone on Law&Crime said their bells went off when BM said he never saw a replacement gun for PM, that PM just used BM's Blackout AR. They think maybe AM never gave that replacement gun to PM. It could be the murder weapon used on MM and that the prosection may use that in their closing. That's why prosecutor didn't ask BM about saying that he'd never seen PM with it.

Edit: Reminded by Smelly Squirrel that Will Loving did testify his saw the replacement Blackout AR and shot targets near the hoyse with PM using it, putting a sight on it.

DH made a Horrible, criminal even, move when he pointed the gun at the Prosecutor table. What a total 🤬🤬🤬! I can't believe the Judge, or a Guard didn't chastise him or pull the gun away from him. I can't stand him.

I’m glad State got in that this guy was involved/helped with the boat accident.
So he’s got a permanent place at the DH dinner table.
Why the heck did the dogs not bark if short guys were looking around the kennels for some guns to ambush MM and PM? A dog has 300 million olfactory receptors to detect a stranger… or an owner.

I can’t believe DH threw his clerk under the bus like that. Not a child, a lovely little assassin just like this. Yeah, okay. Moo

This is the bizarre moment Alex Murdaugh's defense attorney pointed a rifle at the prosecution bench and said 'tempting' as the courtroom erupted with laughter.

He grinned as he pointed the gun at the prosecution table and said, 'tempting', prompting a chorus of laughter. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson laughed but others at the prosecution table like Creighton Waters were not amused.

Emphasis mine.

I get it.
Gallows humor.
I've used it myself on occasion, where the subject matter in some cases have been particularly overwhelming and difficult to bear.
Sometimes poking a bit of fun at a perp whose self-aggrandizing was noxious and ridiculous.

But this 'joke' ..... was not funny.
And Harpootlian should be ashamed of himself.
M00.
DH is posing. He knows the cards that he is holding. Aces and 8s.

Fair enough.
I was enjoying the snark, but you are right. There should have been a bit more respect.

Having said that, other than the comments about the youths, I think everything else was fair game. The witness was 'guessing' and calling it a definite. He was calling himself an expert (in many things) yet he had no formal training.

I was surprised by that testimony. I'm sure AM's attorneys knew that's what he'd say. Maybe they will claim that Paul probably lost the replacement gun. JMO.

When we are in VT cabin, with all the hills all around, it can sound scary close when it's not. My hubby is always my interpreter on just how far away it really is or isn't. That's just so and so way down the road and over the brook but it sounded like right outside!

JMM or RM to testify about that? They're up this week right?

This man is on the Defense Witness List. Expert in crime scene analysis. I think he was involved in the Michael Peterson/The Staircase documentary but not sure. Just saw some Twitter rumblings.
