After the second retrial, wasn't it indicated to the DT that they had to start preparing their client for an inevitable sentence of "natural life" instead of "possibility of parole"? I wonder who had the "preparation" task? Willmott? Nurmi? I wonder what that scene was like, how many visits to the jail it took, what their strategy was? Or did they just convey it to Jodi in passing at the courthouse, order her to "get over it", and consider it done?

I imagine Maria was sent to hold her hand. And to discuss whatever necessary business arrangements with Killer Inc.

I'd forgotten this or never really heard it--- JM said in closing that her premeditation began on May 19, the day Travis and Regan were IM'ing, talking about her, mocking her, the day Travis told Regan she shouldn't be surprised if her tires were slashed or if she received hate mail anonymously, because that's what the killer did.

But here's what's really interesting. This is closing during the guilt phase trial, before JM ever discussed manufactured Helio evidence, etc.

Sounds to me like he already KNEW the killer was listening in to T's online communications. And Nurmi must have known too because he didn't object as to foundation when JM said the psycho started planning his murder on that day.

Interesting. Can't wait for his book!

No. Still waiting. But....all of the texts through June are there already between TA and : the killer, the Hughes, Deanna, CL, and Maria.

It's just the full text record for May and the first week of June that's yet to be posted.

I'll ask Beth Karas whether or not she's trying to obtain other trial records. She perhaps is already asking for some jail call recordings to be released?

Personally, what I'm most interested in seeing are all the emails and IM's available between Travis and (at least) Regan, the killer, Lisa, and Taylor, and at least between March through June 2008.

Hahahaha!! Just keep telling yourself as a "Trial Watcher" we must fill in the tweet gaps and have a full mental record of the proceedings (and try not to throw a shoe at the screen, there will be times that will be difficult to resist but we are..uhh..professionals). lol

In the interrogation with EF. A 28-something with "affairs" to get in order? Bwahaha! Twitly pomposity! I mean, it's not like she inherited millions. I think she said Matt M was going to be in charge.

Other than financial "affairs", I suppose we could elaborate with some other possibilities:
1) she was referring to destroying her hard drive; she had "taken care of it" so to speak
2) she was referring to the money she stole from Travis that she wanted Matt to put in her commissary account
3) she was referring to romantic "affairs", including the guy she met on the plane, Edgar, and Gus S
4) she was referring to the money in her "safe", which she seemed to think was "a lot" IIRC
5) she was referring to her plan to claim TA's car as hers.

I have been, re-watching Flores interro tapes, and I keep wondering when she decided to change her story to was not there -> intruder ninja attack.

I think it's after the first physical interview with Flores, and she is booked for the night, before they give her one more chance to explain.

What gets me is why did not claim self defence from the get-go? Because she looked like a fool leaving the scene.

My favorite commentary during Trial 1, was at EggTreeNews, she of the "Stabby Einstein" eponym. Unfortunately, her stuff, including the nickname, was plagiarized by ReallyBigMeanDog. I always hate to see that kind of thing. Egg Trees stuff was creative and well-written: no one had any business ripping it off, IMO.

Now I'm looking at Egg Tree's blogs, I am thrilled to discover I haven't read them all! Yippee!

FYI...

Beth Karas tried to get jail calls but couldn't. They're sealed. May texts will supposedly be posted in a week or so, and the mod over there will ask Beth about trying to obtain emails, etc.

Perryville has a Big Bertha for a warden. All business! The world could use a few more like her. Upstate NY would be a good place for a clone.

Jodi is sentenced to max for natural life. She wasn't sentenced yet in Estrella, so there were limits on how hard- they could be.
Sheriff Joe advised Perryville about JA's manipulations. Evidently there was a lengthy report. Perryville was forewarned and prepared.
From early on, Perryville clamped down on any communication Jodi had with the outside world. She got her ventmate in trouble for giving the public an update.
IIRC, Jodi was only allowed one phone call a week, and that was after the person she wanted to call had approval to be on her visitor list.
Jodi is allowed to write letters, but she may not have enough paper, since this is probably limited.
Evidently, several of her letters out didn't pass muster and were not put in the mail. I believe posters here assumed she was asking for money in these, which is expressly forbidden.
There's no access to media of any kind except print media that is ordered directly from e.g. Amazon.
She's been in isolation.
She's too busy eating Hershey's chocolate bars paid for by the "trust" fund that has been entrusted to someone who loves to send her money in large batches.
She was required to demonstrate obedience to the rules before she could move up the incentive ladder. No pain, no gain.
She now has to wear orange instead of pink; this makes her nauseous every moment of every day. Indeed, she is even more nauseous to look at than she ever was.
She spends her days preening herself in the wonky mirror provided by the metal on her ensuite toilet. In said wonky mirror, her lazy eye has vanished, so she can for the first time in her life "look like a princess".
She is required to have her hair tied back except when in the shower; this puts her in a chronic snit, since she can no longer use it as a weapon.
