Just came from the @AP wire: Okla. State Medical Examiner's office confirmed at 37 dead and the death toll is expected to rise. #okwx

If this is really coming from the ME then this does NOT count the ones still in the school. :please:

The ME only counts those AT the ME's office. That would put us at 60-70 counting the school.

leading edges of the storms (the green rain part getting close to Spfld, IL. Time to get the kids inside and hunker down. BRB

Be safe Tlcya! Green rain part is NOT a good sign. Green skies are tornadic or terrible powerful storms.

Folks, please do not bring information from the Scanner forum to this thread. You may link to the Scanner forum, but all information needs to stay there. We're especially concerned about names of the victims of this horrific tragedy.

I must have missed something, but just to clarify for my own posts:
I'm not in the scanner thread... ANYTHING I post is coming from mainstream media.
Any names I do post are because they are unharmed and trying to reunite with family.

Please report back when it has passed. Stay safe!!!

Now we are back down to a tornado watch...possible tornado just to the north of us. Lots of trees down, lots of folks without power. Hail and lots of rain. There are also tornado warnings to the south of us now. But knock on wood, so far so good.

I grew up in a small town north of Dallas (20) miles, McKinney Tx. Many people had storm cellars. I have so many funny stories about storm cellars but also so many scary and serious stories. My grandmother insisted we go to the cellar with the first sign of a storm. Very minimal sirens back then.

My mother was a nurse so she was always at the hosptal or on call. I had an aunt and uncle who actually had their cellar stocked. Had a bed, a recliner, and a radio and t.v. down there. Sometimes they would spend hours in it. But, in Tornado Alley you take these things very seriously.

Reporter on CNN just said that the 24 children are MISSING and that's does NOT mean they are aren't alive!!!

Praying at least some of these babies are found alive. Praying for their families too.

She lives in an apt complex. No basement, (much to her mothers disappointment). She resently graduated college and she is on her own for the first time. She knows to get in the bathtub, I'm hoping the complex has a shelter as it is rather large and new. She has told me previously she can hear sirens. I just wish I would here something from her. I will continue to have faith.....and pray.

It looks like the threat of tornadoes has moved east, away from Springdale now.

Thanks! Yours, too, in mine.

Here's a link to live streaming weather reporting in the Northwest Arkansas area.

I don't think there's a reported tornado in or very near Springdale. Benton and Washington counties are pretty huge.

I finally heard from my daughter. She says they are in the middle of a storm but are okay and she will let me know when it passes. It was a text message with no time stamp.
Thanks Steadfast for the link. It's very helpful. Have you heard from your daughter?

They don't bring in excavators to look for missing children. :tears:
They specifically said there was 24 bodies in the pool of water in the school.
They have turned to a recovery mission at the school.

Hopefully they were wrong, but that is what they said.
(And I'm watching LOCAL news... not CNN. The reporter was near tears.)

I have every intention of staying safe. My storm chasing days are behind me for now, til these kids are teens ;)

Seen many a green sky, I agree, its a bad bad sign.

Very fortunate to have a full unfinished basement and live in a home that was built in 1867 three bricks deep all the way round. My main worry is the dogs, they freak in weather like this.

From press conference:

Our hearts are broken for the parents who are wondering about children.
We are working on search and rescue right now to make sure we look under every piece of debris.
We appreciate everyone helping.

From Press Conference:

Called in all resources possible, out of state Search and Rescue.
Please stay away from the area... lots of LE and ER personnel.
Communication is hard with cell phone towers and power lines down.
Asking the public to be as patient as possible.

From the Press Conference:

Thanks to the media, they have done a wonderful job.
Many people say that because of the media they were able to get to the storm shelter and save a lot of lives.

We do know there are fatalities. We do not have a number count yet.
There are a lot of injuries and we've lost a lot of structures.

Everyone is working to help find and identify loved ones.
For those who don't know their loved ones status... especially the children.
St Andrews Church has a reunification center set up.

You got that right! You are lucky to have a decked out storm cellar.

Went down to grandparents root/storm cellar during one tornado. (So many yummy foods canned on the shelves.) But still scary 'cause spiders might be in there, no tv, chairs or radios.

From the Press Conference:

Please know we are working as quickly as we can.
We will be continuously updating you.
Tomorrow I will take an aerial tour with our national guard.

We are working with our charities to get food, water and emergency shelters out.

That was all the Governor.

They said there were 7 bodies in the pool of water. There are 24 additional children still missing.

I'm listening to CNN on my TV, and KFOR local livestream.

I will pray for these babies, and I will hope for them, and for their families.

I don't think they are going to confirm any numbers we are hearing during this press conference. :twocents:
