Yes, as a person who still (unfortunately despite many attempts at quitting ) smokes, (and also outside) I can say that if you’re upset or despairing you are definitely going to need that cigarette, even that “one last cigarette”.

My sense is that she died at the hands of another. I would wish she would be found alive, but it really doesn’t look good. I hope there is some kind of break soon. It’s sad that she left her dog, too. Just sad all around.
I agree with what you and Steve are saying about the cigarettes, but I’d also consider that even though she left cigarettes at home it’s entirely possible she had a second pack that she took with her. Just food for thought.

Some of the things she didn’t take with her concern me to varying degrees, but the smokes aren’t high on that list.

I'm a smoker, that's a good point. If I'm going out for a few hours and have a pack with say four left, I'll either top the pack up from another pack or take the other pack and leave the four pack at home. So someone might think I had left mine at home too.

Yeah when I smoked I’d do that too.

Or sometimes I’d misplace a pack and then when I wanted a smoke I’d just open a new one rather than going to the trouble of finding the misplaced one at that moment.

There are a number of logical ways she could have ended up with two open packs at the same time, and a number of reasons she’d only take one with her when she left.

Yes, I guess you’re right. I suppose it’s just another thing to question.

My main concern is how much surveillance the area where she was has, in terms of camera footage, because it would certainly clear certain questions up.

It’s been over a week now, though, actually 10 days. I hope that doesn’t mean there there isn’t any footage…

What if she walked away?

I don't know anything about the body of water nearby but it should be checked if it hasn't been MOO

Yes, hopefully LE is exploring that possibility and water as well as land. She’s been gone 10 days and as she didn’t take car, wallet, cell phone, etc. it’s very worrisome about self-harm as a possible scenario.

Hi everyone - seeing some familiar names here as I just learned about this case and thought I'd catch up.

These things never end well, do they?

<modsnip - all quotes must be linked to the post quoted AND the post referred to has been removed for TOS violations>

I don't have much to add at this point without knowing more, as if often the case. How did she normally spend her time? Did she have a job? Is there an ex-husband still somewhat in the picture?

...in the 200 block of Mitchell Drive...

Shana Alison DiMambro, 45, was last seen July 19th at her home in the 100 block of Mitchell Drive, close to where the body was found. [snip] No arrests have been made, and investigators haven’t said whether or not they suspect foul play was involved.

Comal County Sheriff’s Office units on Friday night were dispatched to the scene of where a body was discovered a block away from where a 45-year-old Spring Branch woman was last seen more than a week ago, but authorities aren’t saying if the body found is the missing woman.

Jennifer Smith, CCSO public information officer, said detectives arrived in the 200 block of Mitchell Drive around 7:50 p.m. — a few yards away from Shana Allison DiMambro’s home in the nearby RV Park and where her husband, Chris Antos, reported her missing on July 19.

A few yards away from the home, and it took 10 days to find her?? Again, as in the Chrissy Powell case, it has been 100 degrees daily down there. Shouldn't someone have smelled something??

a few yards away from Shana Allison DiMambro’s home in the nearby RV Park

Does this mean yards as in plots (like front/back yards) ? Or yards, meaning the unit of measurement, I wonder?

Oh no! Tragic news ... hard to believe it took so long to find her when she was so close to home. Godspeed Shana, prayers of comfort for all who loved you and for your precious puppy. So sad. Moo

Good question. I assumed it meant yards, as in plots of land, but not sure. Another article said she was found about a block away from the home.

I’m sorry to hear this.

I know it has been hot, especially in TX, but hot enough to be unrecognizable after 10 days? I’m sure it’s possible just seems like a short time. Do we know when the last person to see Shana was other than her husband on 7/19?

“Authorities said the body is badly decomposed, and they aren’t able to identify it as of yet.”
Investigators working to ID body found in Comal County, not far from where woman disappeared
I would assume buzzards are also a factor in the condition of the body found.

These are private properties, some of them large plots of land covering many acres, where the owners do not live on the property itself, so it’s not always as simple as knocking on front doors and asking for permission to search the property. And of course search parties, with or without the police, cannot search private property without permission, or in the case of police, without permission or a search warrant.
