I know the B&B you are speaking of but I don't know how the quality of the service is.
I am not sure which restaurant you are speaking of. (I guess it depends on which way you are coming into town) - but there is not much here nowadays for eating out.
We do have a nice Mexican Restaurant up in the small strip plaza next to the grocery store.

What type of food do they serve?
Is it an old building that sits on the river edge called the Landmark/Captain's Table? (if so that has new owners and the place is not doing so good now.)

Now Sparta (20 miles out) has a great new restaurant called Southside Ribs - If you come down here you really have to eat there. It is on the south end of town (on South Rt 4) towards the Steelville T that links to 150 that comes into Chester.

Do you know where the Grace Church sits in Chester? (It sits next to the Best Western Hotel near Wal-Mart)

Grace Church sits on State St (Rt 150) and Murphysboro Rd (aka Rt 2)
The only Hill near the Church is across from the Church's right side (along Murphysboro Rd) and there are home up on the hill there. The reporter probably walked through the back yard of the home that had the big tree down so she could watch what was going on at the Church since they were not allowed to be on the Church property and there are no sidewalks in that area of Chester.

I am just wary now on B and B's - we stayed at one a couple years back in another town that sounded nice, but, was way beyond tacky!

The restaurant serves all kinds of food -good, and I can't think of the name as it has been almost a year since we were there, and it has in my lifetime changed names a few times - it is on the way in if you are coming from Red Bud, etc.

That is a shame about the Landmark, I have been there but it has been a few years.

And, now I do know exactly where Grace Church is thanks to your saying it is near the BW. Thanks!

And thanks for the tip about Sparta - another small town I just love. Did you know a lot of the outdoor stuff for the movie In the Heat of the Night was filmed there (and other areas around these parts)? Just some old trivia. And we love BBQ.

If not a little getaway, I am feeling a Sunday drive coming on.

But if they were taken down by someone who knew it/they were there its possible that they only would have caught the killer's hand. And if the killer was a stranger/stalker and they saw one camera, how would they know it was the only camera?

We also don't know if the camera was recording to a tape in the camera or to a remote location in the house. I wish I knew more about video cameras!
Maybe its just me but I don't know how they can prevent crime like an alarm system, all they can do is tape the crime as it happens. It does not make sense to me that they did not have alarms on the house.

I Totally Agree!

Hiya Analytical,

Gads, I wasn't assuming -- I'm just an old paranoid WSr :) I was just scratching my head and thinking -- anything goes in this sleuthing thing, you know kinda "What the heck is up?," and some of the people that have hit this site during major sleuthing events, woah wowza we have seen some doozies -- well it has been interesting. Didn't mean to offend -- I had hoped you would catch that :)

But your criminal defense neighbor next door -- were you able to ask them the question you had suggested you would? It was in reference to this from Mikey'sMomMom:

>>I would agree with you if this was the first 24 hrs after the murders being it has been days I disagree. Also Im sure with his line of work they already had his prints.IMO its either a palm or hand print to exclude him if innocent why need it ordered by the courts. The quicker LE can rule him out the sooner they would be able to look at others. If innocent wouldnt he want the killer found as soon as possible?<<

You were going to ask your neighbor about this. I know people are busy -- but might you ask your neighbor and let us know?

Also...you were asking ArtieGumshoe about the mail boxes:

>>Artie ... you can clear this up. With reports that the mailbox had been "tampered" with .. that could mean several things .. it was physically damaged or it was "tampered" with by the depositing of the threats.

Are your mailboxes on the curb? Are they keyed or open? Just thinking if the boxes were locked, one would have to "tamper" with it to place something inside other than what was deposited by US Postal Service.<<

I was trying to find you a photo of the Coleman's mailbox -- there are a scad of clips in this thread that show pictures of the front of their house, and some films. I just couldn't keep digging for the graphic, but you could find a graphic by hitting the links starting at the beginning of this thread.

What I saw was a typical run of the mill type of rural route mailbox (on the curb). You know, you flip the front of the box down and slide stuff in. We have one like this -- we cannot keep it locked (or we don't get mail), we have to leave the lock in the box so that after the mail person delivers they can lock it.

But you asked a good question -- did the Coleman's put up a new mailbox because someone mucked with theirs?

W

Wrinkles,

Perhaps you might consider doing your own due diligence?

Sorry that I won't have time for a litany of questions.

I've stated it before and someone has stated same on SLPD .. once an attorney is retained .. all requests must go thru the attorney to his client thus a court order.

I don't have time to bother asking my neighbor ... I know this to be true but if you don't want to believe me I have nothing to lose or gain and you can choose to find someone you find more credible or simply use your local phone book and call up a criminal defense attorney's office and ask his legal asssistant about procedure.

Some things are really very simple.

It just remembered that there is an old vacated rest stop at Koch Rd on the Missouri side after you go over the JB Bridge. The last time I went past it the spring weeds were tall around it the whole rest area. I sure hope LE searched the old rest stop at Koch Rd.

Good find. Now if she were a good friend of Sheri why would she delete her myspace? Now if somehow involved with CC then I can understand it.

I'd delete it too if I saw myself being discussed all across the net. I doubt you can impugn a motive ... she probably doesn't want all this "publicity" and her only control is to remove what mention she can of herself from the net.

She better keep deleting then, once you're on the web, you are all over the web!

Chestergal... never said pretend...you may want to clarify
22 minutes ago from web

http://twitter.com/PERTZFOX

Glad to hear it, Pertzborn! Now...exactly what did he say, Chester? LOL I will have to take back my wisecrack.

I think Pertz has gained some fans from here, too. (We just increased your twitter readership! Welcome to WS, PB!)

John Pertzborn has been a local newsman for years, on various stations, and is pretty good. He is one of the reasons we watch Fox - we started watchig on Monday's after 24 and then Thursdays after Hell's Kitchen. And they actually do better local news than the others, especially on IL news. Not much use for the National Fox, but, the local is great.

Glad to have you join us John! WS rocks and you might be surprised what you find here. WS is nothing like the comment sections on Stltoday or forums on Topix, etc.

Court orders are not necessary if the client of the lawyer is cooperating with police.True all communications must go thru his lawyer but if CC were cooperating his lawyer would accompany him to police station and give finger prints without a court order. They only go before the judge to get a court order if the person refuses to cooperate.

Artie,

Thanks much for the details on the mailbox.

Hmmm ... threats ... mailbox damaged ... "I told you this would happen" .. scrawled on the wall

Sheri reportedly telling neighbors she was "scared" .. I would be TOO!

Still can't discount those threats as being VALID and someone out to "get" this family .... he "got" them .. and said "I told you this would happen!"

...putting on flameprooof underwear and hearing the faint sound of PM's flying...

Very true!! Plus once a name is out there a lot of ways to find out a persons info.

Does anyone think LE is waiting until after the funeral to make an arrest?

well, I beg to differ ... but what the heck .....

the request is not made .. ring, ring ......"Margulis, bring your client in for fingerprints.."

where is the paper trail? where is the written request? communications now with Coleman are "by and thru his counsel of record"

Finally, I can respond. Hey everyone, I'm completely new at this but I wanted to share a few things that are wrong with what some of you know about the investigation. (I know that I am correct because I live 8 houses down from the Coleman's and I was there on tuesday morning and afternoon watching the story unfold, just like a bunch of other neighbors)

The story that I have heard, is that between 6-9 months ago the family was receiving threats in the mail, related to Chris's job. Sheri notified the local school district, where her children attend and Chris notified the cops. The Coleman's live on a street corner so there is a house diagnally from it as well as across the street. Now, a police detective, who lives diagnally, asked the one who lived across the street to keep a watch on the house in case they see anything unusual. This neighbor, has been quoted by the news and spoke with me, because he never saw anything out of the ordinary. The only person he saw near their mailbox was CC.

Now, there isn't a issue about the gym, because normally CC works at night, this monday, he did not. So, the gym working out in the morning was not usual. At 3AM, neighbors reported hearing screeming and fighting. The nighbors also have dogs that bark at anyone not known to them and the dogs were silent all night long. At 5:30 CC left for the gym. At 6:00, the neighbor, who lives across the street, came out and did some jogging and let the dogs out, he said he saw nothing unusual. 7am, now here is the kicker, and I can post more in about 2 hours, but, the police DID NOT find the bodies!!!!!!! I repeat, do not believe the cops nor the news people!!! I was at the house at 8:30am, CC called from the gym and when there was no answer, he went home after calling the cops. He was at the house first!!!! The nighbor across the street, saw CC go into the house, and come out crying and wailing. CC sat on his lawn and called JM, the neighbors called the cops. When the cops arrived, CC went back into teh house with them. I know this because CC's car was still running and in the driveway, with its door open, when I drove by at 8:30. He ran out of his car in such a hurry to get into the house, that he left the door wide open. Why would he have done this if the cops were already there and would have already gave him the bad news?

THANKS, Artie! And welcome to Websleuths!

I guess that surprises me. I really thought the family would have made an effort to keep them up there and bury them near her family.

Hi Medusa!!

I was hoping that was going to happen too. It's all just so sad, my heart aches for her mom to lose her only daughter & grandkids. It's too much!

Anyway... haven't heard any local news updates today, been out enjoying the weather.

Interesting info from Artie (welcome to WS Artie)!!! Why would LE lie about who found the bodies first? That info is even on MCS' website.
