I know the B&B you are speaking of but I don't know how the quality of the service is.
I am not sure which restaurant you are speaking of. (I guess it depends on which way you are coming into town) - but there is not much here nowadays for eating out.
We do have a nice Mexican Restaurant up in the small strip plaza next to the grocery store.
What type of food do they serve?
Is it an old building that sits on the river edge called the Landmark/Captain's Table? (if so that has new owners and the place is not doing so good now.)
Now Sparta (20 miles out) has a great new restaurant called Southside Ribs - If you come down here you really have to eat there. It is on the south end of town (on South Rt 4) towards the Steelville T that links to 150 that comes into Chester.
Do you know where the Grace Church sits in Chester? (It sits next to the Best Western Hotel near Wal-Mart)
Grace Church sits on State St (Rt 150) and Murphysboro Rd (aka Rt 2)
The only Hill near the Church is across from the Church's right side (along Murphysboro Rd) and there are home up on the hill there. The reporter probably walked through the back yard of the home that had the big tree down so she could watch what was going on at the Church since they were not allowed to be on the Church property and there are no sidewalks in that area of Chester.
I am just wary now on B and B's - we stayed at one a couple years back in another town that sounded nice, but, was way beyond tacky!
The restaurant serves all kinds of food -good, and I can't think of the name as it has been almost a year since we were there, and it has in my lifetime changed names a few times - it is on the way in if you are coming from Red Bud, etc.
That is a shame about the Landmark, I have been there but it has been a few years.
And, now I do know exactly where Grace Church is thanks to your saying it is near the BW. Thanks!
And thanks for the tip about Sparta - another small town I just love. Did you know a lot of the outdoor stuff for the movie In the Heat of the Night was filmed there (and other areas around these parts)? Just some old trivia. And we love BBQ.
If not a little getaway, I am feeling a Sunday drive coming on.
