They can also sue for wrongful death (which they should do asap once charges are filed in hopes of freezing the assets). In that situation it would not matter what her name was or wasn't on, they will be going after any and all of his assets.

Well I can tell you the house will not be worth diddly squat! In our state if someone dies and it's not natural causes it must be stated on a disclosure (not that people wouldn't know due to high profile case). Houses where people are murdered usually are hard to sell, and sell for less than market value. I'm thinking one where two kids were murdered is going to be really hard to sell. Look for this one to become a non selling foreclosure! JMO

Are you a trained detective? Are you speaking from a "trained detective's" point of view?

Can you cite a source to back up your assertion or is it an assumption rather than a statement of fact based upon reliable evidence?

Hopefully detectives approach each case without bias ... even on the Coleman case a "fresh set of eyes" was called for in the first few days.

Oh please, quit trying to goad people into an argument. Everyone learns from experience, trained detectives or not.

Don't you think that if a "new" suspect was presented to us we wouldn't be jumping all over that in a second? We all want the correct person caught and brought to justice.

So far all I've seen presented pointing to someone else is similar to a mystery novel.

Because I choose not to be.. in the words of another poster describing themselves "suspicious and cynical" .. but rather "open-minded and logical"

Open minded I would concur with, logical would be open for debate at this point.

Since my credit was better, it was easier to leave my husband off the mortgage but as in your case, his name is on the deed. I think our agent told me he had to be on it, does that make sense or am I having false memories ?Anyway, I wanted him on it to make sure he felt equally obligated to make the payments.

Depends on your states statues.

If that were the case it would definitely be a red flag to LE if the A/C were on when they arrived. I don't imagine the outdoor temperature at that time of day would've warranted it?

Forensic Files fan here too. :D

It was VERY mild that day.. the low was in the 50's and the high was in the low 70's... A/C was not warranted.

I think most here are open minded. Some, it seems, have shut their minds to the possiblity that cc did this, in spite of overwhelming evidence.

Reasonable .. yes?

The sum total of past cases and this case sums up to Coleman being guilty .. no.

Oy, you take one thing and focus on one thing at a time, including with how we sleuth here. Past experiences is only one part. Gotta look at the big picture you know.

Suspecting the husband and sole survivor is anything but illogical.
There's an awful lot of info that suggests he did it, but he could be innocent.
The only thing that would shift my opionion of his guilt would be to know who else could have done this and why.

Got feedback from Pat Brown from NG's transcript tonite....sounds like Pat thinks there's something really hinky about the crime scene...imagine that!

Out to Pat Brown, criminal profiler out of Washington, D.C. When you look at a message like that, how personal is that?

BROWN: Oh, Jean, I just have to sit here and laugh because it`s, like, the worst staged crime scene I`ve ever seen. This is the kind of scene you see when somebody is trying to say somebody else did it. The open window, number one sign of a staged crime scene. It`s, like, Well, gosh, somebody had to get into my house. Number two, scrawl something across the wall that says, See, the bad guy came in here and was really, really angry.

Three, the people are all strangled, so there`s no blood in the house, so I can get my house back and it won`t be messed up. And here`s what`s really curious. Mr. Coleman supposedly has these very vicious somebody after his family. He is in security. A man that`s in security doesn`t have any videocameras taping anything in the house. He provides no safety, no locks for his windows and doors, and he leaves his family unattended. I`m sorry, but they`re going to be -- this guy`s just looking bad very bad.

Asking specific questions is in no way attempting to "goad" someone into an argument.

Now .. back to those specific questions?

tax issues? one has to be in a "hefty" income bracket to incur estate taxes

what "tax issues" are you referring to?

I am not going to get into a debate with you about the thresh hold for estate and inheritance taxes (they are seperate btw, one being state and other being federal) and how those rates vary from state to state and vary again depending on one's relationship to the deceased. Considering the average property value in many cities would put one near a "hefty" income bracket it is widely recommended that your spouse be on the deed regardless of your mortgage choices.

Taking your spouse of the deed to the home months before her unnatural death, I know you don't like it, but it is suspicious. Not enough to lock you up by itself, but it is definitely going to have people take a closer look.

Yes they can! They do have two years to do that; I know that because our time just expired April 18th. But there is a statute or law that you can sue for personal belongings as well. I'd have to check with my attorney again, because in the long run we didn't need it after slugging it out with my brothers girlfriend to get his belongings back.

http://www.pathguy.com/TimeDead.htm

Supporting the claim that you can find anything on the internet here is an online program that will calculate approximate time of death. Lots of interesting info in the links on this site.
Thanks~ Sometimes think I am a closet forensic pathologist. ;)

This site gives me much hope they can determine TOD down to the narrow window they need for this case. Of course, if the TOD is say 3:00 am (which is my theory) then it isn't a problem and easily determined.

Speaking of betting...what are we going to wager on this one? LOL

If you research the cases we have here, you will find we are very accurate when it comes to our predictions and the guilty verdicts handed down. We don't miss much and our record speaks for itself. We should really have a place to keep up with our stats on such things. ;)

IIRC there was case that was pulled for awhile because LE requested because I guess some where hitting the nail on the head. Can not remember the case.

For most people it's not a sinister move, but you throw in a dead wife, two dead children and alleged girlfriend and it changes the entire picture.

In so many cases, with missing or murdered wives anyways, a discovery of a spouses financial dishonesty was a major factor in their murder. Sometimes wives are murdered to prevent the wife from making a discovery of that nature.

Follow the money....

There is a kinder way of putting that, ya know rather than making a "you" statement into a personal attack.

I haven't blanket discounted the sum total of the reported threats, the interaction reported to the police described as "interaction with an individual of a suspicious nature" ...

Do you have another suspect ?
Why would someone "target" this family ?

It is the job of the defense attorney to give his/her client the best defense possible. I wouldn't want the job but that is their job.

It's also their job to get their client acquited of the charges regardless if they are truly guilty or not. If it wasn't, there would be no need for defense attorneys.
