IMO I would LOVE that to be the truth. I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that the last thing those precious boys saw was there father strangling them to death.

Being he is a hunter and in IL, there is a very good chance he had a ski mask handy.

Here are my thoughts...

CC is getting tired of having to live under so many rules - he simply getting sick of his religious life, his religious wife & children, religious family, religious employer, religious social circle.
He wants out of all of it and he wants to go play the field and find out what he has been missing out...
straight out of HS, becomes a Marine, meets a beautiful USAF gal, she gets pregnant before they are both out of the service, probably gets married because or family and military pressure, gets out of military moves back around family, daddy C lines him up with a good job with JM, wife starts enjoying the religious life. Wife starts getting more appreciate by others than what he is getting (or thinks he deserves it more), she has a closer relationship with boys than he does. He starts disliking his children, he starts disliking Sheri, he starts disliking his employer, his family, etc.
He does not want to pay alimony nor child support. He wants a free break.
He comes up with a plan... I'll write threatening letter to make it look like someone is threatening my family because I work for JMM.
I'll kill my family and I write things on the wall to make it look like it was hit all because I work for that "B", JM. (I recall someone said she-devil was on the wall in the house)
I'll get away with it and I will collect the life insurance and then I will sue JMM because they did not protect my family from these threats or the killer(s).
I'll sell my house and disappear with my bank account and pockets full of cash.
No wife and no kids to deal with - no employer to deal with - no family to deal with.
I will be able to retire and I will get away with it.

You are only missing one thing. A stripper GF that would give him the life he wanted until the money ran out. What if there is more to that relationship then meets the eye?

My bet is a camera across the street at a local LE detectives house who I am pretty sure is the LE that CC called for the welfare check on his family. This detective was knowledgeable about the "threats".

I am hoping that he had a camera set up watching the Coleman house.

Not sure but I thought I heard there was a camera set up by the neighborhood association on the street.

They could explain that away if it was his mask, but if there were skin cells, fingernails, etc... from one or more of the victims, I'd take that!

If he wore the scrub bottoms, there was no shirt found that we know of yet. A long sleeved shirt would help cover his arms, but she could still have gouged him through the material. Altho...it would mean she may not have skin under nails, but could have lint or something.

Do we know exactly where that trash can was from his house? If his camera did work...would it show if he walked by his mailbox to throw those away?

But maybe he didn't know they had them! I'd never looked up to notice them until this case. For some reason, I just don't care if cameras catch my movements since I'm not trying to give myself an alibi for a crime ;-)

SURELY he was competent enough in the video surveillance field to have disabled the recorder BEFORE starting this.

It's in one of the slideshows, so we can figure it out. Scrubs aren't very sturdy so she could have ripped them if she fought. I'm leaning towards the scrubs not being involved. Didn't Art say trash was picked up later in the day? Or am I thinking of another case?

Hmmmm...do you think maybe he did wear a mask? It would keep Sheri and the boys from seeing his face plus keep the paint off his face, too. (A ski mask would keep the paint off his hair.)

That is a thought and a good one.
My bet is that he did plan it all out but the timing was not of his choosing. I am thinking Sheri had figured something out and that started a fight which let to a premature acting out the plan but not following it completely.
