KILGORE, Texas — A third person has been charged with hitting and setting a Kilgore woman, who has been missing since 2016, on fire causing the deaths of her and her unborn child, recent court documents show.

Edward Brager, 23, of Troup, was indicted on June 9 on a capital murder charge in connection with the disappearance and death of Sheriya Grant, 20, who was eight months pregnant in 2016.

Allen Lamont Sutton Jr., 33, of Kilgore, and Laneshia Lashae Young, 29, were indicted in December on the same charge.

Sutton, the father of Grant's unborn child, and Young have been arrested and sentenced to prison after being found guilty of tampering with evidence.
Indictments for Brager, Sutton and Young all allege that they intentionally and knowingly caused Grant’s death by striking her with a blunt object and setting Grant on fire with accelerant and at the same they caused the death of Grant’s unborn child.

The indictments also state Brager, Sutton and Young could have struck Grant, set her on fire all while trying to kidnap Grant or while trying to commit arson upon Grant.

The trials, which were initially set for sometime this year, have since been moved to begin in 2026. Both Sutton and Young are facing the death penalty.

According to judicial records, Sutton's trial proceedings will begin Feb. 12, 2026, with the jury selection process and the actual trial is set for March 23, 2026. Young's trial process is set to begin with jury selection on Sept. 3, 2026, and the trial will be Oct. 12, 2026.

Brager's trial has been delayed as well, but a 2026 date has not been set yet. The trials will be held in the 241st District Court in Smith County.

On Wednesday in the 241st District, Judge Debby Gunter denied lowering his $500,000 bond that had risen from $350,000 based on a February 2025 bond violation. Because of that violation, he was arrested on March 14.
His original bond, which was set after his 2022 arrest, was revoked and then increased to $500,000.

Natalie Tise, a prosecutor with the Texas Attorney General's Office, confirmed the February violation related to Brager admitting to having alcohol and testing positive for marijuana. Both are violations. Tise also pointed out Brager hadn't paid his pre-trial fees since this past January.

The defense argued that prior to the February violation, Brager had been compliant and missed none of his pre-trial appointments. His attorney Brett Harrison said Brager communicated with pre-trial officers.
