Yes, if you haven't read the book "Defending Jacob" it is based on this premise... it is worth reading. I liked the ending, great twists.

ETA: Personally, mental illness, or genetics, would not cause me to eliminate the DP as an option.

I'm reading that book right now, and very much enjoying it. Gone Girl was also a great read.
