Van Houten showed no reaction to the ruling and quickly was escorted out of the room.

In her final statement, Van Houten apologized to everyone she harmed.

KCL....don't you find it interesting that the two sidebars AZCentral decides to post and discuss are the two related to Juan's comment about marrying JW? They could have picked any number of sidebars more interesting than that - for example I would love to read the one where JSS talks about CMJA giving too long, rambling answers.

I think Keifer consulted with his buddy Nurmi, and Nurmi told him to put those two out for the public. Maybe b/c they took it personally, maybe to bias the potential jury against Juan. I'm leaning towards the latter. They wanna make Juan look mean and anti-woman....that would play perfectly into their agenda, especially considering Juan's natural style in the courtroom.

I have no doubt this was done deliberately by Keifer to hurt Juan and hurt his case going into the next penalty phase.

Everything at this stage I believe is calculated like that. It's 100% biased IMO and less about helping the defense as it is about hurting Martinez. Of course just my opinion.

Ps I think he's also trying to just humiliate Juan Martinez at every opportunity and its personal. Funny though who's ending up looking like an a$$

Not just for Juan's smart @ss replies, which are truly great, but also in a funny/sad way, how much time they spend arguing about a bunch of made up crap they all know is bull**** anyway.

As an aside, I am on day 10 of the Abaroa trial and not a single sidebar so far.

You got that right. I don't think he will like how HE might be mentioned for his unethical journalism in reporting sensitive information about a witness (cough Alyce LaViolette cough) while she was still testifying.

It's my opinion that he escalated when *his* Murder Two conviction he was counting on didn't come in so he's gonna milk his opportunity to mess with his nemesis Juan Martinez as long and as hard as he can. Whatever he's doing, it's not journalism anymore.

He sure does love all his whiny "death threats" refrain doesn't he? If I could request a new song by jayarohh it would have these "death threats" as the droning on and on refrain.

Journalism? Is that what they're calling what he does these days? Back in the olden days it was called an 'opinion page.' And his "opinions" are not particularly well informed, IMO. Seriously. This guy needs a personal blog for his tantrums, not a newspaper column.

What is funny about the Wilmott/Juan bit is that JM was seriously trying to make a logical and legal argument. It got worse when neither Wilmott nor Nurmi understood it.

I am a diehard Buzzcocks fan, but I alway appreciate a good cover tune. I grew up in Costa Mesa at the height (and heart) of the american punk scene, right around the corner from a club called The Cuckoos Nest. All of my friends were in bands and we hung out with famous UK rockers who would come to southern california to play at the club.
