Well JSS and the DA need to get this nonsense quashed quickly. They are trying to do everything to get the judge to do LWOP without them. Absolutely disgusting. They are long overdue to be reigned in.

Isn't it up to Montgomery?

ElleElle, I've been searching on-line to try to uncover the witnesses on the list you found at the Maricopa site. Those witnesses might tell us something about intent going forward. So far, I've had no luck, but thank you for bringing it to the Thread.

Well alrighty then I will be there lol!

Jodi is in a solitary type of lockdown, isn't she?

IMO, it doesn't really matter when they do the next phase. Again, it will end in a 'No verdict'. The judge will sentence her to natural life.

I knew defense would delay as long as possible. Please realize it is their job to save her life. If she gets life, they have done their job. Of course they will try for saying she was in a crazed state, but I don't think that is allowed at this point. At least in this state it is not, the trial has been had, sentencing is the issue. AZ has different laws though. However, if they can simply get life that would be better than death. That is the defense goal.

On another topic, I need advice or helpful hints.

I just found out my brother's house burned. He has a wife and 2 teens. He has had a rough financial life trying to make it. They were 1 year away from rent to own.

We are a very dysfunctional family, so I do not know how to help. He lives far away. Should I just send some money? I told my mom (hard to talk with her but I am doing it in fear she will die and I will regret not trying, yet again, and again, and again) to tell to let me know what I can do from here. They will not, that is the way it is.

Any advice is helpful, and, thank you so much in advance, if any is given. I will gladly take good and bad. :)

It would benefit the taxpayers time to be done with it, I think? Not sure if it makes a difference or not considering JA will remain in jail either way, there are caps on what defense gets paid, and DA's get their yearly pay regardless. At any rate, they are dealing with a knowledgeable jury pool, that is the issue. Let the steam float to another case, and, honestly, DP qualified attorneys do have other cases going on. A few months is an acceptable continuance. Especially with the public on it. Judge SS has her hands full to make the decision.

If it were me, and I was in a position to help, I would send a check and put aside any conflicts. Your brother may not respond, and don't expect him to, but he will appreciate the gesture. You will feel good, too.

Thank you. That's what I thought too. My brother and I have no conflict, my mom and I do. My brother and I just don't talk, we were not raised to be close, we did not know any extended family members beyond facial recognition. We were not raised to care for each other. He and I know that, but we care, from a great distance that does not involve mom. And, we were not raised to know what appropriate actions are in any given situation. :blowkiss:

My brother went to Thailand to have a comprehensive physical, he had several polyps removed after his colonoscopy, one very early bladder cancer removal that was seen on a CT scan that would have never been done here in the US (since he had no symptoms), a bunch of dental work and more, and he spent less than $3k. I have a $3k deductible on my health insurance, and no plan is going to pay for CT scans or MRIs as preventative screenings for me.
The medical care in the US is SHAMEFUL. The only people who do better using the health care in the US are a lucky few, the insurance industry has made most of the advances in medicine little or no use to the majority of Americans. Sure, get cancer and then they will approve a procedure, but preventative health in this country is still in the dark ages.
The dichotomy between the rich and the poor when it comes to health care here is heartbreaking. This is considered one of the richest countries in the world, and yet we have poor who die because of a lack of consistent medical care. We rank near the bottom in medical care quality for all the developed countries, and yet we hear it all the time that our system is better than everyone's. it just is not true - yes, for some, it is, but for the majority if the middle class it is not, and for the poor, they would be better living in many other countries.

As a medical professional, I am going to defend the medical care in the US. I think your gripe is with the insurance companies and trial lawyers and NOT with those who actually give medical care. I can assure you that when you go into the ER, the nurses and doctors are not concerned with your ability to pay. They are first and foremost only concerned with diagnosing and treating the patients before them. In over 30 years of working in med-surg, ICU, and ERs, I have never seen any doctor choose not to do their job and treat their patients accordingly. I personally have never treated a patient differently because of their ability to pay.

As the wife of a physician in private practice, I hear his frustrations on a daily basis having had to fight with insurance companies. He does not like that insurance companies have the audacity to tell him how to practice medicine. He is an excellent physician and goes to bat for his patients when the insurance companies deem that a certain test or scan is not medically necessary. He usually wins.

Another problem contributing to higher health care costs is having to also practice defensive medicine. We chart on all our patients as if an attorney was going to read them. Work ups by physicians are done with the same mind set. Most physicians can diagnose and treat a medical condition without a million dollars worth of testing, but because of the underlying ever present threat of lawsuits, they are so ordered. Medical malpractice rates have skyrocketed. It is pretty sad that cardiologists and oB GYNS are having to pay over 200K a year in malpractice insurance premiums.

My husband did not go into medicine for the money. He went into it because he loves it. I certainly did not go into nursing for the money as I made 60K/year with 30 years experience and I worked hard and did my job well. I personally would not go anywhere else in the world for medical care except the United States. Our system is not perfect, but with a few exceptions, our doctors and nurses are some of the most dedicated and excellent professionals around.

Thanks for reading. JMV :seeya:

Don't concern yourself with your mom and what she thinks - this is for your brother! Let him know you're thinking of him and care about his situation. Now don't ask me about my sister as I detest her - she is dishonest and deceitful! Let us know how it goes.

My brother and his family are moving in with mom, that is where the problem is. They can share with mom, but sending money to them is like putting them down. We were/are poor, but mom and dad were extremely proud folks. Dad died not asking for money. He needed it, he left a whole lot of debt. But, if I send it to mom's house I have to send it to "The XX Family", not to my brother. Sigh.

Think I'll listen to 6 hours of not my style performed Beethoven, nah, I'll go nuts if it is not performed extremely passionately. Here is the crap channel for those on a bad date, haha. Scratch that, listen to this guy perform, his Debussy is out of this world, his LP's are out of print and it is not that long ago. A fading art.

Zuri;

You are correct. It is the system, not the workers. I can't afford all the help I could get, but that is the system in the U.S. I seriously hope it will change, along with stopping untested pharmaceuticals. That is a different rant.

It should take less than 3 weeks to re-try the penalty phase only. SHOULD...if JSS could keep it how it should have been kept.It wouldn't cost that much more. Now if it had been a hung jury at the criminal trial then yeah it would be an even bigger expense to re-try all that but penalty phase alone? No. Nothing like the costs with the criminal trial.
Yes DP qualified lawyers have other things going on...however this DP qualified lawyer should have her current DP case as priority, since it is almost finished. It is obvious they are dragging it out because they can and because they are being allowed to. With Nurmi's filing and her doing this, they are both just trying to push it into JSS's hand or delay it as long as they can. It isn't even about JA for them, it seems it is about them and their issues with the case.
