geeze i wish i had your nurse when I was in labor with my son! not only was my nurse absentminded but my doc wasn't on call. my son was born via c section healthy as a horse...if you can't tell I'm still upset about the whole experience!

Yes, after our experience with the last nurse, my husband was critical of the first ones (it was a long labor so I think I had like 3 during the course of the day!). I told him I'm sure the other nurses worked hard, too...just this one had a special talent (at least with us!).

Luckily my doctor was on call, but I had no idea previously that they LITERALLY come in at the very LAST MINUTE. LOL! I kept asking, r u sure my doctor's actually available? I know I asked them at least once in my delirious state b/c I remember the nurse saying she lives very close and is only a few minutes away. She did come in during the day briefly to check some stats or something.

first thing in the morning haha. usually they say if its a faint line and its pink it's still a positive just very early in the pregnancy. i'm a "pee on a stick" pro after having 2 kids lol. i get the early tests where you can test before you even missed your monthly visitor

Was just sitting on my patio, little boy is still out running around again while the numerous adults ignore him. Just heard one of the females say "get your back here you little s***. Bad baby." So that in combination with NG the last couple nights....:stormingmad: I should just go lay in bed and watch cartoons or something.

M, your neighbors remind me of the "characters" in the Joshua Young trial.

Zuri, I was thinking about the judge....I don't think he has any bias to Juan, I think that judges aren't used to "flamboyant" kind of lawyers.

Also Juan can come off as sort of rude sometimes b/c for example, when the opposing attorney gives him a paper or smething, he kind of grabs it and doesn't say "thank you" or anything. And if he gives them something, he kind of just throws it their way!! LOL! In the other trials I've watched, I've never seen the counsel act so personal against the opposing counsel. And don't get me wrong, I love Juan!! But I can see how his courtroom demeanor would be considered against the "norm."

You may very well be right. I thought Juan's points were valid, but the judge did not. Oh well.

They used ether a lot as a general anesthesia.

It was given to me when I had my tonsils removed in 1966. Nasty, because a typical side effect of ether is vomiting. That did not feel good on a throat that had just gone through surgery.

I had my tonsils out in 1964 or 1965, and I remember that stuff too. I was sicker from that than I was in pain from the surgery. Awful stuff, and I can STILL recall the taste it left. I'm glad there are other things nowadays that are safer. I had to take my oldest son in for some dental surgery today, and he went under general anesthetic. All done through IV now, and no lingering side effects.

i will keep you posted. im a little scared because my daughter is 2 and my son is 9 months old. we wanted them close in age but this wasn't planned, i accidently miscalculated my ovulation days which have been weird the past few months. if it turns out i'm not i will not be upset

I understand but I'm so excited for you! My brother and I were planned, we're 3 years apart. My younger sister and I are only 20 months apart. Needless to say, she was a surprise! My mom actually found out on April Fools Day that she was pregnant with Sara

Hey ladies, i had a c-section with my second. My first was easy (thank god for epidural) but my second, my water broke but the contractions weren't coming. i was only 2 cm's dialated and my fluid level dropped and wasn't replenishing. my son's heart rate went low so i had an emergency c-section. it was very difficult for me as I was totally expecting another easy delivery and my dr wasn't on call that night so I had someone I never met before. i think im pregnant again and i am very worried about placenta previa, etc. i am hoping for a vbac if I am pregnant again (home test has a faint positive line so I will call dr tmw for bloodwork) but I know there are also risks to this.

Molly, please don't worry. If you have a good doctor everything will be fine. Previa is not that common (1 in 200 women), so not to worry. Usually it presents itself in the third trimester, but I was much earlier in my pregnancy than that, so I was really not a textbook case.

Every pregnancy is different, and there is no reason to think your next pregnancy will be like your last one. My first was a c-section, but my second was a natural birth, so I'm not sure the VBAC is a useful predictor. I was 34 when I had my first, and 37 when I had my second, so age is also not a huge factor IMO. If you are healthy and have good care throughout your pregnancy there is no reason why you can't have a natural birth after a c-section. HTH.

omg that is terrible! i'm so glad you called and reported them. i bet theres drug use going on in that house. drugs and child neglect go hand in hand from my experience of 5 years in child welfare..ugh

I agree 150%. It's a terribly unhealthy and neglectful environment from what I've observed. My hands are tied though...I've done everything I can do. Some people just suck.

Molly, hope it works out the way that you want it to.

Hmmm...ovulation days. How do you calculate that?

I got pregnant on the 3rd day of my cycle and on the 24th day of my cycle, even using birth control. After I got my tubes tied, I still worried about getting pregnant. :scared:

My son was given laughing gas at the dentist when he broke his front tooth in half. He had this silly looking piggy nose thingy on his nose and he was belting out that bible song Deep & Wide at the top of his lungs. They couldn't get him to stop! Lol

Me too! That anesthesia was nasty back then.
Now we have general: Patient is intubated, ventilated, sedated throughout procedure and deep sleep; amnestic to surgery
MAC: Monitored Anesthesia Care: Propofol Drip ( Michael Jackson drug),
IV Sedation : Typically Fentenyl given
Blocks: Usually for limbs; nerves blocked so as to no pain perception
Epidural : Form of a block given through the epidural space around L1 and L2 disc space; catheter left in place to redose medication
Spinal: similar to Epidural, but medication is injected into spinal fluid. Good choice for elderly patients requiring shorter acting anesthesia
Local: Lidocaine injected at injury site (numbing agent) like for stitiches
