I was born in January. I always hated my birthstone because it was a garnet. My mom wanted to buy me a ring for Christmas one year, and she bought me an amethyst because she knew I didn't like the garnet. Turns out my "zodiac" stone is an amethyst. I really miss my mom right now :(.

My daughters 2nd child has a birthday in January. A girl born on the 27th. My son was suppose to be born in February and I was going to get myself an amethyst ring but like his sister he was late and was born in March.

I'm getting worried. My son went to NYC at 2:00 this afternoon and he hasn't called yet- 5 hour drive :scared: he was suppose to call me when he got there.
maybe he forgot (with his ADD he forgets a lot).
I'm going to call him soon- hate to call if he's still on the road. :scared:

Yesterday we were talking about Stephen King here and last night on the 10 o'clock news I caught the end of a story on someone who they said was 'taunting a town', I think they said he has the IT clown's pic on his Facebook page and is somehow taunting wherever he lives through his FB. I didn't get much more out of the piece or the town and can't find anything on google - did anyone else hear about that? They showed the IT clown pic, as skeery as ever, and a pic of someone dressed like a clown (not nearly as good as the IT clown), just thought it was so weird since we were conversing about that author on the same day.

My birthday is July 20 and I did not like having a summer birthday. As a kid, it was hard to have a birthday party with friends because of summer vacations. It seemed as if no one was around.

Mid July tends to be hot and very humid here, so that the frosting would literally slide off my birthday cake. :(

My mom started making peach shortcake as my birthday cake...not because I liked it, but because fresh peaches were in season and it would be a treat for everyone.

I do like summer and will be sad to see it go. I'm enjoying listening to the crickets and screech owls as long as I can.

I hated when my birthday rolled around. A birthday near Christmas is no fun. My parents to this day make it special for me. They wrap my presents in birthday paper and not Christmas paper. My parents are very thoughtful.

CALL him. It will relieve your mind once you talk to him. He'll understand why you're concerned.

I did read about that geevee. Apparently he's in a snit because of the negative press he's receiving. I'm wondering if it's some kind of publicity stunt, or if this guy is a certifiable nut.

YoN, if you had all the money in the world, you would probably like rubies better. High quality rubies have beautiful color. Garnets pale next to them. Just like emeralds...the low quality ones are meh, but high quality ones are gorgeous.

Ah, if only I were queen. But there can only be one and you're the one! :floorlaugh:

Believe me he will appreciate it later in life. Only my parents and a close friend whose birthday is the day before mine wrap presents in birthday paper. Most of the time birthday and Christmas are combined. Of course now I don't care.

What is your birth month? Mine is December.

We have ten December birthdays in our family. We all danced around a Christmas day one,and several were close, but no cigar.

I hear you Kensie. My grandparents on my dad's side always gave us "combination" Christmas and birthday gifts (my brother is also a January baby, as was my dad). We always felt ripped off. My mom and dad always made it special though. They held back a couple of gifts from Christmas for our birthdays, and made us a special cake (whatever kind we wanted) on our actual birthday.

ETA: and this is funny. My brother and I are two days apart in our birthdays. When we count back on our fingers our day of conception is exactly our parents anniversary. :floorlaugh:

No. That's only 3- 3 1/2 hours from where he is going- to Queens, NY.
He has to travel back roads for the first 1/2 'til he gets to the Thruway.

Oh- I have rubies of all kinds- rings, bracelets, earrings, etc- really- no kidding. I've been giving them to my future DIL a little at a time. I never wear them anymore and it's such a shame to not use the jewelry. She loves them and I love her.
