All this playing with the court system JA is doing only continues to show us tidbits of what Travis had to deal with when it came to her.

This is a question based on total ignorance on my part but please indulge me! Is the judge an island? I mean I understand she has the resources to research prior rulings and laws and such...and I understand that the rulings have to be hers alone...but is it unethical or unconstitutional to seek advice or support from her boss or her peers? I dont necessarily think shes doing a bad job but do feel gthere should be someone laying out a 'if this happenes, this is the precedent.' I just dont understand why everything has to be researched. Why wasnt this considered a posibility? Thats where I get lost!

Exactly. Why weeks' worth of delays for every single motion. Weeks lead to months which lead to years and here we are...August 2014 with no end in sight.

My impression was that a) Jodi wants Nurmi OFF the case, and b) if the judge allows Nurmi to withdraw, Jodi will happily turn the reins over to JW and whatever other attorney is there to advise, and then everyone will be happy. She's only representing herself because Nurmi refuses to go along with whatever hairbrained scheme she has up her striped sleeve.

Am I misreading something?

Yes. And Travis wasn't angry or stern enough. I think most of us would have handled her very differently. I mean, she slashed his tires and he still talked to her?! And then he himself said she betrayed and scammed him and he still didn't kick her out of his house that fatal day. And this gives me the shivers...he actually agreed (if reluctantly) to get into a small cramped shower stall so that she could take photos?! Poor, naive Travis!

Thanks for posting this! I must say this whole thing is causing something to happen which I would have thought was impossible: I'm actually feeling a little sorry for Nurmi. I'm sure it's just temporary and I'll recover in an hour or two. But, jeez, what a mess.

The way I understand this new sentencing hearing is that there will be a 2 week period of bringing the new jury up to speed on the facts in evidence. How does that work? Will witnesses be recalled? This is not a new trial for the guilt phase, so what is the procedure?

Hi Curious! I got your note and came here looking for the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT but can't find it...but yes indeed my dear brother DID get in to this prestigious chorus and I feel like I've been walking on air for the last 24 hours. I'm going to be a seriously twisted Stage Sister..watch out! lol

If anyone wants to read how it went down it's on my blog:

http://twoinnocents.wordpress.com/2014/08/13/baritone/

It's all just so exciting...thanks so much for praying for him! And now I owe you a prize and I know exactly what it's gonna be so please you need to send me your mailing address. You will be very surprised I think...and pleased! (it's trial related).

As far as Jodi's shenanigans today...more stall stall stalling. She will drag and twist this thing as long as she can and sadly the State of AZ will help her every step of the way.

Blech.

God morning KCL,
I just found it. It was post 790 at 8:12 P.M. Last night. Guess it was too small, in all our discussions about the trial. I thought it was removed. But it's there. I wanted to put emoticons all over it and the buttons would not work for me. Just when I needed them. Usually it's the thanks button. :). And I use an I-pad and there is a lot I can't do from here. Can't cut and paste, etc. Oh well.

We are all so happy for John and for you. He needed this. I sent you my address by pm but it's totally not necessary but I am excited.

I guess we have to allow JA to stall. And when she sits alone in her cell and is demanding her case be heard on appeal, maybe the court system in AZ will stall and stall. Maybe they will tire of helping this one. What goes around, comes around.

Great News. The last time Arias threatened and tried to intimidate (give me second-degree murder and I won't reveal Travis' secrets) it blew up right in her face on May 8, 2013 when she was found guilty of first-degree murder. Now she tried her usual intimidation tactics again (with her 'fire Nurmi or else I'll represent myself') but the Judge won't play these games with her. The joke's on her.

Hi G&A,
yes please recover from your pity for Nurmi. Thisis a guy who defends child molestors.

I'm wondering if JA's comment that if Nurmi was removed that JA would give up the idea of representing herself actually sealed the deal that Nurmi would NOT be removed. She is entitled to two lawyers and having a new one appointed to replace Nurmi would have meant a delay in the retrial. She just made it clear that representing herself is only a tactic to get rid of him and she has no real intention of acting as her own lawyer.

JA's hatred of Deanna Reed is palpable. Deanna is, after all, the only woman Travis ever truly loved and it drives the killer nuts. She will try to destroy Reed on the stand, I think. Lets hope Juan stops her in her tracks.

Hi, I think it will be like a refresher course for all of us. Two weeks! Thank God! She would go on forever, I was actually worried about her dragging it on for months. You made my day!!:happydance:

About half the people associated with this case have said that parole is an option and others say no. I wish we could know for sure.

At the present time, there is no life/w/parole in AZ. However, it could be enacted some time in the future.
