I actually feel a little sorry for Nurmi too. I can tell how much he despises his client. And he is stuck like glue to her. LOL :panic:

I feel sorry for him right up to the moment that I remember how dramatically and deliberately he attempted to paint this sociopath as the victim and Travis Alexander as a pedophile then I realize Lady Karma is working exactly as she is supposed to.

Morning, Curious! We had such good news yesterday. The replacement play fell on its face. Word came so fast after the hearing on Wednesday. What a relief!

Good morning Spellbound. You are awesome. This is just what my paper report says. UPJ. I just don't want surgery. I have had surgeries and I don't do well. But I have to remember there are many people suffering a worse fate and God uses doctors and medicines too. I am in His hands. Thanks for this article. I will read it now. I looked a bit yesterday for this but it is found a lot in children. Didn't say much about adults. I do know this. It is extremely painful but my kidney wasn't my first guess. It does feel like someone kicked me in the back so there's that. Oh and the headaches. A friend told me that health food stores sell something called SDR. It flushes built up calcium out of your kidneys and other organs and it helped a friend of hers get rid of kidney stones. I am going to check that out too

I am glad your eye surgery is behind you and that you recovered alright. Thanks for thinking of me and doing some sleuthing for the article. :)

i noticed how most articles discuss UPJ as more likely in children than in adults. I figure you must be "young at heart" then. :) You have to go quite a way into the article for the "adult info" Just remember, anything that will take this pain away permanently surely will be worth it. I volunteer to come hold your hand :cheerful: :cheerful:

Thanks for your kind words, too!

I'm wondering whether the killer plans to cite emotional frailty, although to me it is no mitigator. She has referred to it a couple of times in her complaints.

Hi Neesaki,
i have a history of back pain because I fell in 2008 and my back went into spasms and I was hospitalized for 17 days. So three weeks ago this Saturday I walked through my house and started having severe spasms again. My neighbor came and called my husband and gave me something for pain and I refused to call 911 for fear I would be in the hospital again. Dumb me. Anyway, yes it was so severe that my husband had to carry me into the restroom and back to bed for three days. Then it still hurt but I hobbled around. I called my back doctor and he refused to give me pain meds unless I had an MRI. He told me I should have gone to the ER because I could have an aneurysm or kidney problems. That kinda scared me so I did get the MRI and the results yesterday. Right now I walk funny and feel like someone kicked my in the center of my back. And the right kidney hurts as much as the left one. He said I had to see a urologist. Now that I think back to my younger days, I had similar pain (but not spasms) and thought for sure I had a kidney infection. Turns out, I had a tumor in my female organs and had to have a hysterectomy. That was hard. I thank the Lord it was benign and just trust in Him to guide me and heal me now. The pain fluctuates. Mostly dull and aching, sometimes strong but never goes away.
Yes, the back doctor said an obstruction, possible kidney stone or something else. But when he mentioned they might place a stent in my kidney, my kness buckled. I am usually strong and I like tackling things head on and I am a realist, but I sure thought it was just an old backache. We never know. Thank you for your prayers.

Curious, please take care of yourself. There is no point in suffering silently. Please get the work up. Stent placement is quick and easy with little to no after effects. Knowing what is wrong will enable you to address this pain. I am concerned about you and hope you feel better soon.

Sticky wicket. If Jodi decides to withdraw as her own counsel, how can she be forced to defend herself? The Constitution is on her side there.

I can't stand the attention she is getting and wish she would disappear into the penitentiary along with the other criminals. That's why I want every i dotted and t crossed. Jodi needs the best counsel possible to make sure we never hear from her again.
Why would she be "forced to defend herself" if she changes her mind? JSS would simply appoint counsel, and guess who that would be? But they start exactly wherever she left off with no do overs and no continuance - she said she understood that and agreed to it.

She won't be forced to defend herself, that's why JW & KN are there. Whether they like it or not.

Frail now, or then? I love it when they claim their sentence should be based on the condition they've experienced as a result of their CRIME. First blame the victim, then the consequence. It never ends

After seeing TartLemon's comment in context of your earlier post, I'm now guessing she misunderstood that the request you mention as being denied was Nurmi's request to withdraw. Possibly she read it as JSS denying JA's (blackmail) offer to withdraw if Nurmi was allowed to quit - thus TartLemon's question about how could she be forced to defend herself. Just a misunderstanding, IOW...

The jury does not get to decide between LWOP and LWP. They get to decide "L" or "D" and the judge gets to decide the parole part.

Jodi's case is old enough that the judge has the option of sentencing her to LWP (no longer an option in AZ). However, there is no procedure in place to allow these defendants from the older cases to actually apply for parole. IMO, eventually some defendant will sue to require the system to be reinstated for those people sentenced to LWP. And they will probably win.

I should know not to post. I am not a lawyer. Also thanks to everyone for their posts. It is impossible to thank everyone but I do. I will still be reading.

Reading bits of 'For Laci' by Sharon Rocha. She talks about how the Victim Impact Statements provided her family the opportunity to address Scott directly. For example, Brent told Scott "I chose not to kill you myself for one reason. So you would have to sweat it out and not take the easy way out.' And Dennis told Scott he was going burn in hell.

I've wondered for a long time why Travis' family did not address Arias directly during the Victim Impact Statements. They were eloquent and it was gut-wrenching to see the pain written all over their faces but I wonder why they did not address her. Not that it would have made a difference to the 4 hold-out jurors but I wish Arias had been forced to sit there and listen to them tell her off.

There are always arguments over the constitutionality of victim impact statements. The safest route is to confine the statement to a discussion of exactly what the name suggests: the impact of the crime on the victim(s). Telling off the defendant might make the victims feel better, but it's not worth the appeal issue.

Curious, my husband had had a kidney stone ten years ago (laid on the floor in the ER the pain was so bad) and passed at the hospital after two bags of saline and two shots of Demerol, and then in November last year it struck again, after the ER visits and them finding a stone the size of a pea, and told him to see a UI Dr, which he didn't do hoping it would pass. So after another visit to the ER in January, and then overnight stay in February, he saw the UR Dr. he had seen before and a "surgery" was scheduled because it was stuck in one of the tubes leading to hid bladder.. It was done in day surgery. took less than an hour, and was back home up and around no problems. They did place a stent, for the stone that they broke up to pass (he couldn't have the laser blaster thing, but the older way) and took it out about ten days later. He hasn't had anymore problems since. He was told to drink some lemon juice everyday, something about it makes something do something so stones don't form, and has been OK since. He has had two other MRI's and so far nothing has shown up. Dallas Ft. Worth is called the kidney stone capital of the south.

Never give up on the power of prayer and praying friends.

Good morning :seeya:

"So, it seems that it is only fitting, that this individual that has craved the limelight, it is really only fitting that she now bask in a different kind of light: the light of truth. And in the light of truth, you can see who she really is.”--Juan Martinez

23 DAYS 20 HOURS 11 MINUTES 23 SECONDS

Soon.

:goodpost: and  good quote from Juan!!

Regarding the post about Kristina Randle's Blog, CMJA said she will relinquish her defense to Jennifer Wilmott if Nurmi was allowed to quit. JSS denied that request, thus Stabby is her own defense attorney now. I really think both JSS & JM want to get this trial finished. Sheriff Joe stated Stabby has been working the system for almost seven yrs, everyone else realizes that as well. Her retrial was delayed in March due to a case that was languishing over almost seven yrs too, the cop killer, and I am thinking CMJA's trial is taking too much court time off their schedule. Arizona has its hands full with border issues, state revenue needs to be used elsewhere. As far as Aiken, Stabby has had well over 13 months since her verdict to get her witness list together & hasn't presented it to the Court yet. Really? I don't think she took this seriously. Thought she could delay, now realizing she is playing with grown ups, & Stabby is shaking in her stripes. I bet September 8 is a firm date.
Thanks AZ lawyer for the explanation on what the jurors will be told when seated. I am thinking the process may go quickly after they are seated. Over by October 15.
Thanks KCL for correcting me on Ryan Owens. You can see the real Jodi in that interview. Pure evil.
I am home sick these past few days & have been watching parts of the trial. Watched JM's cross of Jodi & her interview with Flores when she introduces the ninjas as the killers. I believe she in her own way described Travis' killing in that interview & it made me very sad about his death & how he suffered. How vulnerable he was - nude, caught off guard, & how she continued to attack him as he was getting weaker & weaker. Imagine his fear. Heartbreaking. I can see why the Alexander family want the DP. While I have mixed feelings about the DP, if anyone deserves it, it is Jodi Arias.

re red bold - SEVEN years already??!! :ohwow:  :shame:

re blued bold - Stabby

re green bold - Totally agree!! :seeya:

Let's hope it's this... :trainwreck:

I too have a dull and aching pain, sometimes STRONG, that doesn't go away either. But it's in my groin area (left side; right is my new hip!!) - it was caused by my massage lady sticking her fingers "into" that area and that's been since March of 2013 and lately has/had a small lump where it hurts; I've had a Ultra sound, a CT Scan, and just had an MRI done last Monday; and now am scheduled for a PET Scan on Monday... why are they doing ALL these tests on me?? :waitasec: I guess they didn't find anything on the ultra sound - the girl said she was looking for blood clouts - none found; the CT Scan don't know the results, but I guess they couldn't tell with that test, so I had the MRI... guess nothing found on that either... so the need for a PET Scan - does anyone know the DIFFERENCE in all these tests, and what each one would be "looking for" ?? - TIA!! :gaah:

Oh, I noticed on the top of this page it says: Click here to see your arrest records now - no doubt
if you do click, you'll be inidated (sp?) with emails from lawyers!! :D

edited to add - I don't have ANY arrest records... :)

I guess I'm one of the few who believes every defendant is afforded the best counsel available. The Constitution says so. I'd much rather a defense attorney put up the best fight possible to get their 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 clients off, still being found guilty by the jury than to see them clogging up the court systems with ineffective counsel appeals granted.

But think of how the courts would be freed up and so would our tax dollars if when we KNOW some 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, as you call them, is really guilty and they are just sentenced. I do NOT believe a person who slaughtered one of our friends, neighbors, family members, and admits it, should get any counsel at all. Except GO TO JAIL. This is who we are taking about when discussing JA. And no she shouldn't be allowed appeals. She is making a mockery out of our system. JMO.
