Stepped away for a few days and wow, lots of posts. Guess I need to stop in daily now!

Things are heating up for Missy and I imagine things will be even more interesting as trial finally comes. She's always been one for tricks up her sleeve and so far this summer she hasn't disappointed. I just hope the judge can be convinced to allow the trial to be broadcast, even if it is a 15 minute delay.

Wow, watching a giraffe and waiting for a birth! Pretty hard to imagine that drop, yet at the same time, have to appreciate how Mother Nature makes things work. Human babies are so helpless at birth and need protection for so long, but then again, think about marsupials. They are born and then climb into the mother's pouch for months and months after birth. Pretty incredible, the complexity of nature.

Why is it that humans eat daily, yet Emperor Penguins can go for months at a time without eating?

The Sources (sorcery, actually) are invading every p.c. move I make. Down with Java! Java introduced my computer to all of these awful "ad" intruders.

SuperAntiSpyware has an online scan that's very good, try the quick scan and if it finds a lot of stuff (besides tracking cookies) then run the long scan afterwards (the long one may take an hour or more, the quick scan +/- 20 minutes:

http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

(Click red 'Click here to start the SuperAntiSpyware scan now' and once it does a short download select the quick scan)

Malwarebytes is also a very good free program that finds stuff antivirus programs miss:

Click 'Free Version Download' (orange button), install, update, and then run either quick or full scan.

That Youtube video..........:floorlaugh:

I've just got experience with goats, horses, dogs, cats, and cattle as far as mammals.

As far as single births (not the whole litter business) the fetus is on it's back as it gets bigger, and as it gets VERY close to delivery, it turns over. (that MAY be what looked like "contractions" but it was just the baby getting in position) This can be just a few hours to several days before birth. The flanks of the mom "fall in", ie, a depression forms. The flanks are just below and forward of the hip. It's similar to when a human feels their baby "drop" into the cervix area.
The belly drops more noticeably, the vulva relaxes, as do the muscles on both sides and below the tail. You might see a distinct "V" shape at the bottom of the belly when looked at from the side: this is the baby's back hooves pressing downward, it's getting cramped in there! The "V" shape comes and goes.
Biting the sides and pacing, circling are all indicators of discomfort and getting annoyed that enough is enough, let's get this party started, kind of like when a person gets into the last 2 weeks of pregnancy and does silly stuff like go out and mow the lawn to kick in the contractions. (That's me, BOTH pregnancies)

The only way to absolutely confirm delivery within 48 hours is take a sample of the colostrum from the teats and test it. The kits are sold online.
But like any pregnancy, you can't predict WHEN it's going to happen, just the general time frame within a week or so, from the last heat cycle and gestation time.
She's close, but it COULD go on for another week. If that IS the water sac, there'd be vets there ASAP. Once the sac is apparent, the contractions and delivery should happen very quickly, other wise your dealing with a breach of some sort. The sac being exposed makes it susceptible to bacteria...which is a bad thing. (septicemia/peritonitis) It's probably just part of the vulva that has distended out from the pressure of the baby.
The best thing is for everyone to walk away and get a cup of coffee........seems like that route ALWAYS works with my horses! Finish your coffee, go back and there's the wet baby!:happydance:

I've watched her though out the day and night (hope to get some sleep and hope I don't miss the show) and she is pooching out more in her lady parts, and her belly is lower and at times more rounder hanging down. Didn't know if that was just the weight of her calf. She has almost squatted and strained/pushed for about a minute twice. That is different from yesterday.

What other things should we be looking for (other than a baby) to let us know we're getting closer?

How's you mama doing? Getting closer or is she holding out for September?

Morning shift reporting for duty. Nothing yet, just one very huge mama who can't wait for this to be over... even more than we do!

Update on Java woes.

I had updated Java through Oracle and soon began having problems with computer being really slow and more popups than I had ever had before. Once I read of Tuba's similar experience I uninstalled Java via Control Panel. All was well for a day or so but then yesterday I could not access WS Forums page; it would come up and then immediately dim with a Java Updater popup in the middle of the page. Closing the popup was impossible as it would just reappear. Trying to cancel the popup, also not doable.

I now have CCleaner installed and it took care of all the weird stuff that had been left behind from the Java fiasco and probably others. Comp is working pretty good now (knock wood).

I see there is no new baby yet. If anyone wants to view the 2012 birth of Kiko scroll down below the Live video on the cam page. There is a link for the birth archive video.

I am now addicted to the Giraffe cam. She is sort of hitting her haunch with her head, poor dear. I wonder if she is trying to stimulate her sac to burst? This is so cool. I am trying to see if I see activity in her belly by the calf & think I saw some rolling. So glad it's Sunday so I can watch. But I have the site as a shortcut now on my tablet so I can peak while at work this week. Awesome!

Thought I'd be able to sleep, we have some storms going over. So, where's mama? All I see is Walter and son. Checked the paddock and haven't seen her.

I ran onto a site last night about mental illness, BPD, and psychopaths, and it was pretty interesting.

There was one about a man that had molested and raped his children, stepchildren and grandchild. Many from the age of two His daughters also said that they watched and heard him raped and strangle a social worker that had come to check on and take the kids, and he was never charged. Failed a polygraph miserably, but that had nothing but what the kids told. His first wife knew he was molesting their baby daughter when she was around two, and she's take off the baby's diaper and put her in bed with the man. He also prostituted his daughters to other men. just real 🤬🤬🤬 that needed killing. His name is Melvin Just, ad the youtube is hard to watch.

I didn't think I could hate a man more than I do Warren Jeffs, but Melvin right up there with him.

This is the ffirst I have seen the Giraffes. I saw two and thought she had the baby.
Then again I thought it looked large and very sturdy for a newborn.LOL. Mommy

I have really become addicted and I think Autumn is just so beautiful. I saw something on YouTube of the first public viewing of Kiko and it was so cool. Mom came out of the barn first followed by the little guy and it was a hoot! Baby giraffes don't look babyfaced like other animals--they instead look just like scale models of adults. It was really fun seeing Kiko scamper out right behind Mom!

OK, I promise to be less vocal about this in this thread, particularly if some more news re JA happens. I just figured now with the lull...hope I am not at the point of being offensive yet--someone just say so and I will zip it.

No, no, you're not offensive!!! We're ALL hooked! I can't figure out why I get so obsessed with watching -- I find it all very mesmerizing. Some day someone will do a study and find out that watching the giraffe cam is better than meditation.

McAfee does not like this new forum platform. For some reason, I keep getting new pages opening up when I try to scroll down the page and then I get a red warning.

This has happened three times in the past two days. I'll keep tracking it and report more detail if I can. The first two times, I was brought to a page with a java update. Today happened so quick that I didn't catch what it was before I closed out the tab.

Lamby?

That probably was Walter the dad hitting himself hard on his haunches. He apparently has an ear infection that is hard to treat. if there are two together, the big one is dad and the smaller is Kiko, the 2 yr old. Mama Autumn will always be separate from the boys.

Just curious...are you getting this on the WS Forums page only? Or do you get the red warning on other WS pages?

For me it was always just the Websleuths Forums page, and nowhere else in WS or any web page I visited. Makes me wonder if a virus lurks on the main forums page...

ETA: I don't use McAfee and I had the same thing happen.
