Wow, glad you have something that works. Weird, advantage did not work on my dogs. Makes me wonder if different regions have different type of fleas.

We had fleas. A friend was training a service puppy. She brought it to our house for a visit from her farm....hence fleas. Our service dogs are very allergic to them. They went to the groomer for special baths and we had an exterminator come out and spray inside and out. We always do it ourselves, well hubby does, but the girls had such bad skin reactions the vet was worried. Fleas were dead by end of day inside, outside I am not sure but we were happy with the spraying. The girls were on antibiotics for several weeks from the skin sores, even though we saw no active fleas after the day of spraying, their reaction to the fleas was horrible. We have our girls on heart worm/flea pills all the time because they go with us everywhere, so we were so surprised to see fleas. This was the first time in over 10 years we had fleas. I agree there must be different varieties of fleas. It was worth the money to have someone spray, it was a one time spray. He would comeback if needed but the exterminator said usually a one time application kills them...it did.
The oil drop on the back of the neck almost killed our kitty, he collapsed in front of me. He was allergic to that flea application, which was vet recommended....just a strange thing. He got washed in Da-n
Dish soap, blue colored one.(did not knew if I can use brand names here, so add the w in the place of the -). We had to wash him three times to remove the stuff, he survived.
What a real mess. I feel for you. If all the suggestions fail, try calling some exterminators and get pice quotes...it may be as expensive after you try so many other products.
Good luck...

I wonder what the killer would think that we are discussing fleas on her sidebar thread.

  • #1,003
This is not her sidebar- it's Travis' and Travis would be talking, right along with us, about fleas. he loved animals (unlike missy:jail: who tortured animals).

Fleas are much better than her, IMO. :floorlaugh:

I was just being obnoxious. We care more about fleas than the killer.

  • #1,005
And what is that? and where do you get it?

I used something called Hartz UltraGuard.

Good to see you back, Yes !!! :skip:

Regarding your flea problem, I recently started using an oral flea / tick med for my dog, called NexGard. It is available only from veterinarians and unfortunately is a little expensive. But it's worth it for me, as I had an ongoing problem with Frontline and/or Advantage topicals, in that my dogs hair is so short on his back that much of the liquid was not being absorbed into his skin, but staying on top of his hair instead. The oral med is once monthly, and tastes like a treat to him, I know he's "getting" it, and it works.
Anyway, good luck, not sure how to get rid of a flea problem in the house, other to to do a lot of vacuuming, and use some sort of spray as Steely mentioned. :seeya:

Pennsylvania UFO Caught on Camera

"Residents outside Harrisburg, Pa., spotted a mysterious object in the sky."

Video here:

What do you think?

Is someone watching us? :scared:

Yes, we're being watched. Our pastor had a sermon one Sunday about those that have passed before us watch over us, and it was the only thing I could think of the next time dh wanted to get frisky. All I could think of (as I hid my head under the covers) was my grandparents and parents watching. It's does kill the mood.

Hmmm.... interesting point you brought out about Parasites, Kensie. I just wish that's all JA had wrong with her. :scared:

I'm tired of the bugs of Summer. :gaah:

We found a flea on The Queen  and proceeded to give her a bath and put those oily drops to kill fleas, ticks, etc. on her back. Vacuumed everything I could.
Hope I got any fleas that were hanging around. :dunno: (now I feel itchy all over :sigh: )

There are these little flying something-or-other (biscuit bugs?) in my kitchen. Hunted down where they were coming from (an open package of cat food that I forgot
about- in the back of my food pantry) and cleaned up everything in the cabinet. Thank goodness all other food stuff was in plastic containers, closable bags, etc.
I still see some flying around. :(

And when are the mosquitoes going to their last demise? I've had enough of them!!! :pullhair:

Can't wait for the cooler weather of the Fall. :autumn:

I'm tired of bugs too, Yes. Especially tired of spiders and snakes. I can't even walk outdoors without being assaulted by spider webs. I carry my broom with me, and knock them down as I go. I carry my hoe if it's close to dark. If anyone saw me, they just might think I'm a little  .

Warning, totally OT.
Has anyone here every had a massage ? I haven't , in fact I've always avoided them. Until today, and it was just one of those where you sit in a chair like contraption, and it's done on your neck and upper back. It was in the health food store / bistro where I had my lunch. And, I was having neck problems / upper back problems and my chiropractor was booked up and couldn't see me until next week, so I thought, why not ? Maybe it will help.

Well, ever since I left there, I have felt dizzy, light headed, and had a headache. Like I'm on another planet or something. I couldn't finish my errands, etc. Now, I feel wired and can't sleep but am in pain. Ugh. All I can say is that this kind of result was totally unexpected, and will probably be my last massage, unless someone here can tell me something reassuring. Just wondering if anyone has ever had that kind of experience, or is there just something wrong with me..... which wouldn't surprise me, LOL.

I get them all the time, but not that kind.
I have NEVER experienced anything at all like that.
I'd try to get into your chiro tomorrow!

Try just laying flat with your arms up. That might help. ( that advice came from my neighbor that's sitting here and doesn't seem to want to go home)

Apparently Frontline works great but not on larger dogs. That's my experience. :)

Be sure you get Frontline PLUS. There is Frontline, and there is Frontline Plus.

Plus kills the eggs and larva on the pet and in the environment where the pet goes once treated with it.

Frontline (no plus) kills fleas as they land on the animal but will not do anything about fleas in the environment or the eggs, etc.

Two products with two sets of side effects, although safe for most pets. I would not use Plus on any animal that is diagnosed with kidney disease but for healthy pets Frontline is safe and it is the most effective of any product I have tried.

Wow, that's really weird. A massage usually is very relaxing and makes you feel great. To be in pain after one is very strange. There must be something else going on.

My dentist has one in his "relaxation" room where early patients can sit and watch TV, drink a bottle of cold water. I tried it ONCE. It certainly felt okay while I tried out all the options, but had a similar reaction as you did. It will go away, sooner, hopefully than later.

Shiatsu chair... As with hot tubs, whirlpool tubs, etc., they have a tremendous effect on one's circulation. They shouldn't be used for more than 15 minutes. I lasted less than that and found no relief at all from my normal aches and pains.
