This is funny, YorN, but I can't really blame the guy. It's one of those things that is a wild card factor on any jury, from what I've seen of this case. He did find her guilty of Murder 1, so he wasn't completely crazy. Maybe, in the end, he simply could not vote to sentence a young woman to death. And here again, we're up against the fact that she is a female.

I'm going to go off on a tangent; please bear with me. Jodi Arias was one of those young women who needed to find a husband, who seemed to have no sense of worth of herself as a person who should have her own education, interests, and self support. She was some kind of a throwback, IMO. This guy, too, seems to be a throwback. Women should have equal rights, and with this, they should have equal responsibilities--not to murder, for one thing. I simply cannot get past the fact that the defense had some kind of double standard at work. It was so sleazy, so pathetic.

I do think the foreman is "old-fashion" in his ideas of what women's and men's roles should be (and how men should/shouldn't talk to women).

Jodi Arias and the Dilemma of Beautiful Killers: What’s the optimal amount of lipgloss to avoid the electric chair?

"...she could avoid the electric chair if she got just one juror to take her side. Since verdicts need to be unanimous, a single holdout could hang the whole case – and save her from hanging. For that reason, Arias’s better strategy might have been to come to court in full vixen mode, and hope to make one of the jurors fall in love with her...."

:sheesh:

I really hope Juan can show the jurors how the convict has blurred the lines between fundraising for her 'appeal' (but most likely family expense) fund and her alleged 'fundraising' for the various self-serving causes that she developed an interest for after her incarceration.

Another question for AZlawyer? Great find, YorN.

Please post in the "lawyer question" thread (I hate to "run" all over- I'm old ).

BBM seems that the court should be able to stop it:

"...C. An inmate shall not send mail to or receive mail from a communication service provider or remote computing service. The department shall impose appropriate sanctions, including reducing or denying earned release credits, against an inmate if either of the following applies:

1. The inmate corresponds or attempts to correspond with a communication service provider or remote computing service.

2. Any person accesses the provider's or service's internet web site at the inmate's request..."

http://www.azleg.gov/FormatDocument.asp?inDoc=/ars/31/00235.htm&Title=31&DocType=ARS

But- what do I know. :dunno:

I guess since others are doing this for her, she will be excused. Sometimes the Internet is a curse.

I think that is referring to inmates in the state's prison system. She's not there quite yet - she's still a guest of Maricopa County - but hopefully when she does gets there she won't be eligible for earned release credits anyway.

Tomorrow he starts "intensive. Therapy " --in for a looong day at VA. Charging all electronics -- hoping they have wifi! !!!!

Our VA does not have a wifi....infact 3 years ago we were not allowed to use cell phones in this VA...however my husband said that changed, he leaves his on and he sees others talking on their cell. You are in a larger city/VA you may have it...I sure hope so.
Take your chargers with you. There are plugs usually in the waiting areas. Love and prayers for all of you.

I think it is highly likely that people considered physically beautiful have a better chance of their jury finding reasonable doubt. It is a proven fact that people prefer beauty over the alternative. But Arias without a boatload of makeup is really quite plain, bordering on ugly, actually. Is it possible that plays in her favor, that a juror or two will give her the benefit of any doubt--not just reasonable doubt--because they feel sorry for her for being so plain in a society that values beauty? Considering she claims unrequited love made her feel desperate and alone, and some people who experience it may feel abused...I cannot help but wonder how much her coming to court looking so unattractive plays in her favor and that TA not loving her the way he "should have" could be considered a form of abuse. I don't see it as such but I think some people might.

Which visitor did she give the glasses to, so the glasses could be out up for sale? Who is handling the sale...which friend or family member? They had to sign in to visit so it is someone on the list. I thought only paper items were allowed in and out....guess I was wrong. If she gave away a pair of glasses to a visitor and now they are up for sale, but she got the glasses from the jail so she could see....that should be an infraction. I do hope Sheriff Joe is looking into this latest issue. IMO, the monies are going into her family pocket.

Wouldn't it have been at one of her "legal" appointments? I don't know how else she could have gotten them out.

Woke up Sun. AM with a stuffy nose, feverish, etc. but think it won't be too bad. And on a good note I found a watermelon in my patch. It's still small but I think it'll develop before the cool temps arrive. :)

Ah, Maria, smuggler in chief. I'm astonished that she continues on with virtual impunity. Her lack of professionalism has been on full display since the very beginning of this epic farce.

IMO her willingness to enable CMJA is largely responsible for how visible that locked down 23/24 felon has managed to be.
