They have a list of CEO's and salary. ST. Jude CEO/director is listed as William E. Evans and he makes $939,979.00.

I don't know how he handles his salary, but remember some CEO's, turn around and donate their salary back to their organization. There are rules by which they are guided to do this. I have no idea how Mr. Evans handles his salary.

I support St. Jude and will continue to support them. It is a shame that 'she' pulls in innocent people and organizations and then hurts them by her antics. I will be happy when this trial is over. I would hope AZ and other states look at and maybe change some of their rulings for future trials

Seems to me, the witnesses that the defense promised that the proceedings wouldn't be televised, have some issues. Seriously, if you're going to say it, do it, write it, you better OWN it. It's called integrity, and taking responsibility for your actions.

If CMJA's family didn't think it was worth it to testify on her behalf, why would anyone else?

I realize $90K is not a huge income in today's world but when you view it in context, it's not trivial. When it is thought that returning a $900 donation that was made in bad faith might harm the organization, halt research, and result in a child suffering needlessly...a $90K paycheck for one administrative position in an organization that gets all its funding from donations is considerable.

But it is moot anyway because the paycheck is in fact $900K.

I wonder if Brian made the donation for a tax deduction for their non profit scam?

I'm sick of huge salaries that many people get. I'm talking about the CEO"s at General Motors and others, that get millions in salaries and then get bonus's when the company is going down the drain. They should have to pay back their bonuses. They should be ashamed. How much money is enough?

Won't what they testify to be public record anyway? I think they don't want to be in Arizona for legal reasons. Like Gus not wanting to come back but doing it through a phone call.

No, Jodi's pulling the same old BS. I think Jodi is hunting up anyone that will lie for her from another state, and still thinks she's going to re try the guilty phase of the trial. She''ll have many chances to taint the jurors by saying something not allowed or improper because you can't un ring that bell.

Taping of the trial can still be done....the portion of these secret people testifying, can have the camera aimed on the judge or seal and their voices can be changed....it is always done on news interviews! I think there is an other reason, like if certain great detectives I know (like WS) were to see and hear, they could put together just what 'she' is trying to do illegally....JMO...did she threaten them, did she bribe them, pay them in anyway, or are they changing their stories for other reasons. I cannot believe these people did not come forth the first time....when 'she' was the one calling in all the news interviews. I smell rotten fish here.

I also hope, any threatening gestures she does, such as slicing the neck, is dealt with....she got away with it last time....enough is enough. If it was one of us, we would had the book thrown at us...she is not special...killing a person is serious....very serious....and the killing gesture is serious.

Okay...I have to go...we need new windows real bad....all windows have been painted shut previously and one door won't last another winter....until later...I hope we hear about taping...we should see the end of each day that day!

Agree. When she was studying up to represent herself, she would have noted that the rules of evidence pertaining to mitigation don't apply. She would have seized on that, thinking she could stray into guilt-innocence territory. Since she is highly critical of her lawyers, she probably persists in that delusion. We've already seen where she lays blame with all of her abuse survivor nonsense. Tee shirts anyone?

Her family (or at least her parents) could not testify since she sacrificed them by alleging abuse. As for others, you're right, Bernina.

BBM - If it weren't for the cameras, we also wouldn't have been treated to the site of the convict and her mitigation specialist passing notes in court. Somehow, I doubt the lack of any cameras will suddenly illicit proper courtroom behaviour from the convict's gum-chewing, giggling support group. The convict doesn't want the cameras so that all of this abhorrent behaviour can carry on unchecked, and so she can give an 'exclusive' interview to the media outlets of her choosing after the trial is over. :gaah: I'm also going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't believe any of this fundraising is actually for the convict's defense or appeal fund. I really believe the donations are being funneled to her family for their travel expenses to attend the trial. Contrast that with the Alexander family who has selflessly done charity work to support the homeless in honour of Travis.

Sure wish we could hear about the cameras. I realize Jen said by Friday but I had read other places that Nurmi asked for a quick decision but the judge had just said she was taking it under advisement. I mean does the judge have to do what defense wants? In my opinion, the judge should have just said cameras ARE allowed and stopped it all right then. But that's just me.

She doesn't have to do what the defense wants, but she does have to read the case law and make a considered decision. There are two competing constitutional rights at issue (free speech and fair trial), so she needs to be careful. The "safe" decision would be to say NO cameras, because the downside there is only that David Bodney might file a special action and get a quick reversal, while granting Mr. Bodney's motion carries the potential downside of a reversal of any ultimate death penalty sentence. IMO the fact that she is not just picking the safe option is commendable.

Back to my point, I'm not sure how St. Jude's budget is handled (anyone can ask for it, may even be online?)
but I do know some not-for-profit organizations allocate a percentage for administrative costs based on total donations.

From that percentage, they pay CEO's, Directors, etc. - could it be, that's how they pay this person.

St. Jude's is not a small, or even a medium size organization - I would not be surprised if the salary amount is comparable to a respectful percentage of donations.

I have not checked this information out - this is just an opinion on why this CEO may be paid the amount given. :moo:

What they mail me in Thank-you's probably cost more than my donation. Never noticed if they put the amount in the letter.

There is a huge call center here in So. Indiana for St. Jude's, where they ask for donations. Something like 60 people there on two shifts. They are definitely making money.
