Did you feel the earthquake this morning? It could be felt as far away from Quebec and Toronto in suburban Detroit. I didn't notice anything but apparently local TV/radio stations were bombarded with phone calls wanting to know WTF was that?

No but my Niece and MIL did. I just got off the phone with them. Prolly in my fatigued coffee laden state I would have thought it was sleep deprivation. My Niece said her apt. window was trembling and her water bottle on the table was gyrating. Brief. MIL said she felt something and thought it was a heavy truck going by. Fault line here must be same as Quebec's as last time they had one we felt it.

Accidentally hearing this is how I found out about this case, believe it or not.
This is honestly the one good thing I've found about the convicted killer. :thud:

However, that's the sad and infuriating thing too. Why didn't she make something of herself?
Why didn't she take singing lessons, audition for American Idol? Do something?
Didn't anyone ever TELL her that she had a decent voice? That might have a chance?

She might have been famous for a GOOD reason and Travis might still be here.

A lot of people make the same mistake as prisoner#050813. She became obsessed with Travis and that was all she could think about was revenge. She couldn't stand the thought of him marrying someone else or starting a life with them. So the old saying kicked in if I can't have him no one can. At the time it made perfect sense to kill him, not thinking she would also be giving herself a life sentence. The prisons are full of these narcissistic people and will probably stay that way for years to come.

"Costume" - that is the best description of what I was watching yesterday - definitely. Somehow, someone got it through her head she needed to at least pretend to have some compassion. I'm thinking that trip to the p-ward and now her continued isolation may have tightened up a few screws...

Could very well be ... Good thinking!

Your post got me thinking about something else too ... the Lifetime TV movie about her that is currently in production and whose script is reportedly being rewritten to reflect the M1 conviction and presumably the victim impact statements we just heard. Was Jodi playing a role she hoped would be recreated in the movie? Is life imitating art or the other way around?

Viv, I will seriously cover all costs associated with that.

Hey, don't worry about it - if we can pull off this caper I'll just get Mr. Mertz to open his little change purse... once the moths fly out I'm sure we'll have enough change for postage!

She does all right 'til she tries to hit that high note...
It's like a nail gun going off in my ear drum

I agree, she was off key near the end a few times, it was painful to listen to. My daughter is a musician and one of her jobs is she teaches voice...so I have had the opportunity to hear many singers and CMJA is by no means a fabulous singer. She's ok, average at best.

I had a hoagie from Jersey Mike's once, it was pretty close to the real thing, just enourmous. I don't get green peppers on cheesesteak, I do get sweet peppers and onions.

Thanks for the input. I thought it wasn't bad. However, my son buys Reubens there, which. . . . Obviously I've failed him in some way.

There's such a thing as a hoagie that's too big? :waitasec:

I read on FB the DT want to limit JM's cross of the witnesses, but I haven't found any MSM reports verifying that.

There is no cross examination of mitigation witnesses. They say what they say and no one asks questions.

The attorneys may get up afterward and point out the fallicies or perfections of what was said during closing argument, but never during the saying. It is a respect given by the Courts to allow the mitigation witnesses to say what they wish.

Oh Viv I so envy you... But am also much excited for you!!
Enjoy!!!

Jodi's jail cell being featured on Inside Edition now. I will post link when it's available.

I'm not sure what to say about that picture except there's not enough bacon. Nice to see a decent amount of sausage, though.

That's not fair I have to maintain my weight for my daughters wedding in June. If you keep posting this delicious meals, I'm going to cheat and have to run an extra couple of miles daily. It's really hard to eat an orange when you see a pizza and a delicious breakfast. I have to keep repeating, I don't want to look fat for my daughters wedding, I don't want to look fat for my daughters wedding.

testament to how horrible pizza is in California (where I now live and console myself with the wonderful produce)

I went to the Farmer's Market once and still dream about the raspberries.

BTW, what's this trial other people are talking about? I'm a little lost.

Bc that would have taken effort, and there was no guarantee of success...from an early age JA learned that sex and manipulation got her the results she was after.

Its always nice to see a decent amount of....oh....nevermind :blushing:

Hi TexMex! Just wanted to let you know I made your Banana Quesadillas the other night and they were scrumptious! Mr. M. was in (diabetic) heaven! Are you a chef? Your food always looks so delicious.

Hi VV

They are so good and easy. It's a recipe from the food network I've made for a few years now. Glad you liked it

Not a chef! Cooking is just relaxing to me. Have entered a few chili and BBQ cook offs and I did ok.

Went fishing today and caught some trout so that's what I'll cook tomorrow.

Tonight is espresso rubbed pork tenderloin w/raspberry sauce and salad with home grown tomatoes. Our daughter wants me to make some apple dumplings for her and her friend home from college. New recipe but if it's good I'll post it. Looks pretty easy. But the banana quesadilla? I could eat that every day!

Interesting that you should say that juror #1"Church Lady" had a rather muted answer of "Yes" when the jurors were polled.

I did not notice that. Perhaps I'll have to watch the video again.

The one I noticed as not answering in a strong voice (for the M1 verdict) was juror #16 "Maureen." Because of this, along with other reasons, I remain a little pessimistic that she might be a problem during the death penalty deliberations.

Fortunately, I have KatieCooLady to talk me down from my paranoia.

I've heard (from Beth Karas, originally, I think) that the microphones we hear the courtroom through are not really designed to pick up everything -- I'm not sure we should read anything into how loudly or softly we hear a juror since I don't think the mikes are placed to pick up their voices.

I can imagine a lot of reasons that could explain her Mom not testifying (strategy, JA said no, issues on cross, or she may be unwilling to lie under oath) but I'm wondering about the rest of her family.

Where is this brother (older one) that supposedly backed her up on the abuse stuff to ALV? And said she was held at knifepoint by someone. If any of it happened why wouldn't he want to stand by what he has said? Even if he and the monster are estranged, this is her life and if there were anything that could be said about her childhood, good or bad, that might save her, you'd think a person would do it if for no other reason than that his Mother's heart is breaking.

Again - trying to apply logic where there seems to be none

BBM: ALV testified that she never interviewed anyone in the convicted killers family. If I recall correctly, ALV never interview anyone but the killer.

IMO - Mommy Arias isn't testifying because there are many instances on record of the convicted killer being violent. She would have to tell the truth on the stand and be crossed by Juan. :moo:
