If she [and we know she is/well] appeals will that affect sentencing? Will she be shipped to the big house?

I don't understand this joining of the "joinder" business as she hasn't even been sentenced yet to the DP.
Just more delays, IMO.

Someone asked me if missy:jail: could be transgender (I don't think so).

I did look up what would happen if she was, in prison, and wanted her sex changed.

Looks as if prisons will do the sex-change for the prisoner. This sounds very unfair to people who want the operation to change
their sex, don't have the money for the procedure, and are not criminals, IMO.
------------------------------------

Look at this case:

Robert KOSILEK

kosilek000.jpg

"Robert Kosilek (57 years old) is a convicted murderer who has made headlines by fighting to undergo gender reassigment while in prison. He changed his name to Michelle Kosilek in 1993, and lives his life as a woman in an all-male prison.

In 1990, he killed his wife Cheryl. He is serving a life sentence in Norfolk, Massachusetts.

He has been diagnosed with a gender identity disorder. After suing the government in 2000 for violation of the Eighth Amendment, he has undergone female hormone therapy, laser hair therapy and psychotherapy. He wears women's clothing in prison..."

Prison Officials: Inmate Doesn’t Need Sex Change

1118_michellek-300x230.jpg

"BOSTON — Massachusetts prison officials on Thursday made another push to overturn a court ruling that would force them to provide a taxpayer-funded sex-change operation to a murder convict with gender-identity disorder...."

-------------------------

Inmate Michelle Kosilek's Sex Change To Be Funded By State, Judge Rules

"BOSTON (AP) — A federal appeals court on Friday upheld a judge's ruling granting a taxpayer-funded sex change operation for a transgender inmate serving a life sentence for a murder conviction, saying receiving medically necessary treatment is a constitutional right that must be protected "even if that treatment strikes some as odd or unorthodox."..."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/17/inmate-kosilek-sex-change_n_4619456.html

------------------------------------

I don't see why the gov't has to pay for this operation??? (If he/she was out of prison, she/he'd have to pay for it himself) Sounds like robbery of the taxpayers to me. :(

Sex Reassignment Surgery Cost
How Much Does Sex Reassignment Surgery Cost?

"all the costs of transition, and estimates that it is typical to spend a total of $40,000 to $50,000 for a mid-range transition, including surgery..."

Figured this would go better in the sidebar since it's not trial related or Jodi related. To finish the article you do have to sign up with them for free (I haven't gotten any spam at all). I work in psych so this fascinated me enough to sign up for peer reviewed medical articles written by those in the field...figured many more might like it. Personality disorders are in so many...if not majority of, criminals.

Very interesting article on psychopaths- almost makes you feel sorry for them.

I always wondered if these people need more from their parents than they received or would the psychopath still be psychopaths. (I'm not blaming the parents tho'- just ruminating on what
these people need to make them more "normal").

And I wonder if most psychopaths actually know there is something "different" about them in comparison to "normal" people. Israel Keyes knew he was "different" and acted accordingly to "blend" with others. But he still murdered, so definitely something very wrong there with knowing that he was different.

Remorse, empathy, compassion for others is missing- not being able to put themselves into "another's shoe" and feel that person's pain- but to do that, they would have to get out of their own shoes. When you put yourself in another person’s shoes you risk seeing yourself as others would see you—not quite as special as you think, so that's why the psychopath would not be able to do this? They become not so special? Other people don’t share the psychopath's egocentric view.

Pyschopaths are also narcissists who do not consider the pain they inflict on others; nor do they give any credence to others' perceptions. In his own mind, the narcissist is brilliant, perfect, etc. Maybe this leads to a rage of some sort when others don't see the psychopath's/narcissistic's brilliance, perfection, whatever- not a reaction to stress, IMO, but it is a reaction to a perceived slight, insult, criticism, or disagreement, so hence the murders? This is how I see missy:jail: and her murdering Travis. Travis' rejection of her was something she could not bear- the ultimate betrayal for her.

All my :moo:

Thanks for the article.

Yes or No,
just the thought of reading this article, or studying the mind of a psychopath or sociopath terrifies me. I don't see how anyone can commit murder. I remember when I lived back in Texas many years ago, there was a killer on death row (he was executed sometime after) and he was interviewed on 20/20. I forgot his name but he killed people on highways randomly. He just smiled and said if he saw you that was it, didn't matter who you were. It was bone chilling. The closest thing I have ever seen to his interview was the BTK killer. This is the way Jodi strikes me. During her cross by Juan, it was as if she was shocked that anyone cared that she had slaughtered another human being. Same look in her eyes. I just know that she has either killed before or will kill again if she is ever set free. I could never have a career studying the minds of these people. It sounds like an interesting article but it creeps me out just thinking about it. I pray I never see anyone like Jodi up close and personal.
