I think I'm addicted to lace cookie or Florentines, as some call them.
I was shopping at BJ's before the holiday's and had to stop dead in my tracks.
There they were!!! LACE COOKIES!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes.
Cookies I haven't seen since I bought them at the bakeries of NYC- over 40 years ago. So I bought a container for the holidays.
They are crunchy and delicious- they have a nutty, caramel flavor, with chocolate in the middle- YUM!
I was in BJ's yesterday and I bought some more- 2 more plastic container's (I'm eating one right now :facepalm

I just had to find out the origin of these cookies. I always thought the cookies were Italian, but I was wrong:

You just have to eat a lace cookie- you'll get addicted too! :floorlaugh:
Addicted is correct. That is the gift that I make for my neighbors every year! As many are not Christians (are from India etc) I usually spend Thanksgiving weekend making them and taking them to all my close neighbors and the card reads "Thanks for being such a great neighbor" vs Christmas gifts. And they ARE! I came to Florida for just 3 days at Christmas...and still here as grand nephew went into PICU burn unit and still in medical coma. Meanwhile, stuff at home needed to be done. My neighbors came out in force and my faucets were dripping during the 8 degrees weather, the mail picked up, other helpful neighbor stuff done too iykwim.
Anyhooooooooo, google "oatmeal lace cookies" for the recipe. The are the BEST! Warning though, you use about 1/2 teaspoon per cookie and do them on aluminum foil, so it takes a longgggggggggggggg time to rotate them all through the oven.
ETA: Mine are different from YesOrNo as mine don't have chocolate in them. Already the recipe is mostly oatmeal (be SURE to use the ONE MINUTE kind, not regular kind) and sugar and butter lol. Adding chocolate... the calories! :shame:
