Hi, moose butt~ Lamb Chop , long nose?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATTHELAKE!
:bdsong:
GN has Stephens Johnson syndrome. He's been in PICU with burn team and in a medically induced coma for over two weeks now. Ventilator/feeding tube etc. Its a condition which is similar to having third degree burns. Google It is awful. Poor boy is 6 years old. Hopefully he'll come off the vent this week. Meanwhile, I'm helping with the other 4 siblings while mom and dad have been 24/7 at the hospital/Ronald McDonald house. Thoughts and prayers appreciated.
It's been a hoot as I've never had children and love the bonding that is taking place, and they threw me a birthday party today. :giggle: What fun it was as I haven't celebrated my birthday in over 25 years.
It was all "Greek" to me when I first ventured there....newbie and all! But that forum is incredibly helpful, fantastic peeps, and it's connected with a group called CASAA (Consumer Advocates for Smoke free Alternatives Association). When I took the leap, I wanted studies that were independent of Big Pharmaceutical and Big Tobacco. They have the most current studies online as far as health effects, good or bad.
PG is Propylene Glycol (Not ETHYLENE glycol used in the old coolant for cars) a substance found in lots of food items, drinks, toothpaste, lotions, very long list. It's non-toxic.
VG is Vegetable Glycerin, a sweetener made from vegetables. Also used in foods and other items.
the combination of the 2, in varying percentages, create throat hits and/or more vapor when they are heated by a coil with electric current going through it for 6-10 seconds. It vaporizes the PG/VG, NOT incinerates it like a cigarette.<---the cause of tar and carcinogens when tobacco is burned.
The nicotine extract is added into the PG/VG, along with food grade concentrated flavor extracts (there's several calculation apps for DIY e liquid) in varying mg.'s (25 mg or less) or none at all.
The nicotine expended during the vape process, those 6-10 seconds of it, it similar to the nicotine given off in the vapor of tomatoes stewing on the stove. (Yes, tomatoes and the "chili" family (Night Shades) all have nicotine in them) The nicotine you inhale is absorbed by the membranes of the mouth, and/or the nose if you expel the vape that way.
The "Vapapocalypse" is Big Pharma, Big Tobacco, and Big Government trying to pass strict regulations on the ejuice and it's singular components, and the "battery" holders, and the topper or thing the juice sits in and makes contact with the heat source. It will make vaping as expensive, if not more, than regular cigarettes. Right now I might vape $10 a month. So........most vapers will have a stockpile of the ingredients for ejuice and extra gear.
Vape companies have been strictly self monitoring for the last 10 years. There are some places where you DON'T buy ejuice, like Asia, because their labs are most likely bathtubs, no gloves, masks, or general sterile facilities.
The study making the most negative impact on the industry is one that was done with cig-a-likes from Asia, they found formaldehyde in 3 or so of the units. The study is several years old and didn't bother using American made devices which have intense standards on their own.
From current independent studies, the good far outweighs the bad. Some people have had allergic reactions to PG, some to specific flavor concentrates. But some have seen improvement in emphysema, higher blood oxygen, reversal of some and sometimes all of lung damage............just a better alternative. For actually being around for almost 15 years, there is no study on long term effects, but there are plenty of vapers who have vaped that long and swear by it.
And it makes the room smell like blueberries, waffles, Swedish Glogg, or just about anything your taste buds like. I actually lost a few pounds, no cravings for food, no nic fits. It's was more of the hand to mouth and patterns of smoking I hadn't paid attention to.
Blah, blah, blah............nicotine is being used in studies for Alzheimer's, Parkinson s, and ADD/ADHD. It helps with concentration functions.
I have now switched gears, haven't "talked" vaping for about a year!
Thanks for the info- it's very interesting.
I actually just bought a disposable E-cig today when I stopped at a gas station- came in a single cig and is suppose to be the equivalent of 1 pack of regular cig, so I tried it again. It did make me cough a couple of times, but it wasn't like the last time. I like that it is disposable and doesn't need recharging. It's called Zoom. I actually bought the 3 pack too. I bought the "smooth" strength and it's not bad.
Now I can "smoke" in the house when it's winter time.
I'm going to look online for more info on this Zoom brand, but I'm not planning to stop smoking tho'.
Have you ever heard of disposable e-cigs and Zoom? (It's actually cheaper than a pack of regular cig!)

Jodi Arias case weakens: Jodi desperate for mitigation witnesses, and money
"...Does nobody find it strange that the State of Arizona basically pays for….everything…for Jodi Arias, but she still collects money from people online? What is this money for, and where is it going? Details from “Team Jodi” are very slim on that matter and transparency is not exactly one of the “strengths” of this killer, or her supporters..."

Looks like SW and others are making "trouble" for Christine: (see comment section on above article)

BBM As long as you realize that, you are forgiven. :dramaqueen: :floorlaugh:
We'll all be dead and in our graves before this trial ends. :scared::banghead:
:gaah: I'm up early today... let's get this show on the road. I'm putting aside reading time for the transcripts!
:waiting: :waiting: :waiting:
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for my GN. They doctors are considering taking him off the ventilator today or tomorrow. He'll continue to be wrapped like a mummy to keep the infection potential down until the epidermis grows back, and on a feeding tube for a while longer.
